I wasn't even born yet, not until January 97' Seeing this is incredible I grew up an enthusiast and now work Rides Maintenance in the industry keeping classics like these running. I can't thank you enough for the history!
3:46 I See You Even Got The Main Queue Area And 3:57 The Main Station For Montu, And 3:59 There It Is, The Train For Montu! And It Has The ORIGINAL Colorful Wheel Cover Art On It.

I Cannot Believe It! I Cannot Believe You Filmed This Media Day Preview Of Montu Yourself. 25 Years, And It Is Still One Of The Top 10 Bolliger And Mabillard Inverted Coasters Oit There. You Did A Great Job, Dude!
This is neat footage, Sean! I have only visited Busch Gardens Tampa once and that was on New Year’s Day in 2017. I don’t think I’ll ever get another chance to visit the park and I tend to forget most of my visits to theme parks after a few years, so seeing this video made me remember some vague memories of riding Montu.
And Hey, That's The ORIGINAL Wheel Cover Art, Which They Used To Have On This Attraction. They Kept It Until December 31, 2008. They Stopped Using Those Wheel Cover With The ORIGINAL Art On Them In 2009.
Even though I only got on this coaster once back in 2016 of December my only time at the park I absolutely had a blast on this I’m going to most likely go back this December
Best invert in the states. Rode it first time in 1998. Gets better every time I ride it. It is threatening to be listed as my #1 coaster. I could ride it all day long.
I Finally Rode It For The First Time On Sunday, March 24, 2019 With My Sister, Zaniyah, And It Was Incredible! Those Inversions Are SO Powerful. Too Bad We Never Got To Do It With The Original Wheel Cover Art, Or The Old Blue Seats And Yellow Harnesses, But Still, It Was Awesome! The Mid-Course Is Still At Its Best, And We Did Not Let The Trim Brake Stop Us From Getting The Most G-Forces On The Batwing. Best First Ride On Montu Ever!
Mannnnnn, just awwwwesome! Just to be able to meet Walter and Claude, i would just be soooooo happy to thank them for all their beautiful, hard work...
Rode it a month after it opened on a weekend. And I remember the line going OUT of the queue and under the arch as you enter where Montu is. We were high school kids so the wait didn't bother us at all. That footage of Python seriously brings back memories for me. The corkscrews were in every BG ad growing up and it was my first "big coaster" as a kid.
I'm such a roller coaster nerd and so entertainment world illiterate(except sports) that you Sean are the one I would recognize today not Drew Carey who I just looked up lol. My 1st ride was in 1998. I actually chickened out in 1997 when I was 9. Same goes for Kumba, but I also saw Kumba in 1994 but was too short. Thanks for the upload!!!
Really cool story about Carey! Didn’t know he was a coaster fan. This is at the very top of my smaller list of bucket list coasters left to get on in the US!
I love how all the grass around Montu (and Kumba) was always so well manicured, like a golf course. I miss the crocodile pit! Is that Raimar sitting next to you in the Imhotep outfit?? (Wouldn’t surprise me!)
Nope, that wasn't Raimar. The park hired that guy to be the pharaoh. I saw him later that night in a completely different costume, handing out Montu t-shirts to those that were in attendance for the media party.
Think about this, Sean: Montu is such a great coaster, than a (presumably) 3,000 year old Pharoh came back to life and traveled from Egypt to Tampa Bay, Florida (a distance of over 6,500 miles) for the ride’s media day. Impressive!

That's awesome! I have a few other friends that went into that field and love what they do. Thanks for the kind words!
6:01 Montu media day with LIGHT brakes!
That's one helluva trip down memory lane. And so interesting to see this brand new
It was a great time. That thing was incredibly strong back then. It's still one of my favorite rides on the planet.
Even the sound it makes is amazing!! I love this ride!! My favorite!

Drew was very popular in the 90's. My first visit to the park was for this media day.
Wow you saw a celebrity must have been cool
Drew was very nice. I talked to him about Ohio and Cedar Point once our ride was over.
