I really appreciate that you show the whole making and problem solving process by not editing out mistakes or hurdles. Thanks for showing that builds aren’t always smooth sailing!
This workbench is so well constructed and thought out. I know you said it wasn't "precious" but it's obvious how much you value your partner and her work throughout this entire video.
The finishing touches make all the difference. Love the open slats on top, all the hand made storage solutions for the back, and the leftover patterned ply drawer fronts are just beautiful. Great job on this entire build 👍
I love that you shared the hammer holder was a "fail". I find every project I make, even when Ive watched video tutorials or followed detailed plans, will have multiple fails and rewrites. its nice to see even professional wood workers work through the same things.
Man, that bench turned out SO GREAT! Ashley must be stoked, and you've timed it so your Valentines' gift is covered too! A twofer! My favorite feature is the integrated table on the right, and the laptop shelf is really smart. My 8 y/o daughter was drooling over the bench as Ashley filled it with all her craft supplies, and I could see her side-eyeing me as if to say "hey Dad, when you are you going to build ME one of those!" [SIGH] Thanks Michael. I'll add it to the list. ;^)
I mean, the design is cool and all, and the production is excellent too. But can we get a 25 minute Winston video? That's the content I'm really here for.
I love the diferent size drawers with the pattern plywood on the front. And the way of simply catch it and drop the content on the table. All the project is great!!
as always I love it, I used for my wife an aluminium panel with holes , like for workshops, then I primed and painted it white , and now it looks like a peg board, but can also use magnets , so the best of both worlds, and by just gluing magnets to whiteboards, was able to add them too
Michael you are an inspiration, and have truly made a difference. I am looking forward to being able to set my workshop up. Thank you so much for sharing. Looking forward to seeing more projects. Good luck to both of you....and Winston xx
Amazing as always. But the music was very “Silence of the Lambs” when Buffalo Bill was putting on his lipstick and human remains costume. But again… amazing! You’re a true artist! I try to watch all your videos!
What an amazing and creative workbench - and people (y) :D I love the different plywood patterns, and I've taken screenshots from the videos and printed them out, with a link on the back "just" to one of the videos about making these. I'll only use Pine plywood for my workshop, jigs, etc., and practicing how to do make patterns and hopefully within a year or so I'll be skilled enough to make more and use Birch in small projects I can sell, as it's not cheap material to work with. And hard to find with many lairs. (3/4 inch Birch plywood, 11 lairs, 48x96 inch sheet: 330 US dollars Pine, has only max 7 lairs, and price is "only" 80 dollars ;) )
I have that same Bostitch brad nailer and I absolutely loathe it, just waiting for the day I can upgrade to the cordless Milwaukee. The Bostitch jams on every third nail!
I’d be super Thankful if my hubby did this for me. Instead it’s me fitting out his man cave.😂😂🇦🇺🇦🇺🙏🙏 LOVE THE DRAW FRONTS. No I know where I can house all my pliers too👍
Great video. Gave me some great tool organizing ideas. I like the pliers rack, the wee lip on the shelf, the corbels, and the desktop riser shelf. Not a fan of the chisel rack with the exposed tool edges. Really cool technique of bandsaw re-sawing the small part using your clamp as a holder. Power and wire management are always issues, so I’d guess that a power strip under the front or side edge of the workbench will be a future improvement., rather than have your tool power cord cross your workspace. Small comments versus your huge effort in advancing workspace designs!
I like the music... But it hit me why it sounded familiar: Buffalo Bill. Then I was concerned, waiting for us to be asked that infamous question that matches the scene. 🤣🤣
The music at 1:39 kinda sounds like "Goodbye Horses," from Silence of the Lambs. Great video though!!! Amazing project. Sorry to creep-i-fy things with the Q Lazzarus call out. Guess you kinda can't un-hear it now. Huh? 😆😁🙃
FWIW, your small supporting brackets are of the type called consoles rather than corbels. A corbel is a structural part of a wall that juts out to support something. A console is applied to a wall or surface to support something. If in doubt just say bracket.
Great project! I love the slate top and the veneer magnetic bar! I’ve been wanting to try lino carving and actually bought some of the tools & supplies. Why don’t you all do a video on it on your channel?
Good job planning a space for the doggy pillow! And the roof rack shelf is awesome. I am wondering what brand your tool pouch (right hip) is, please. Thanks!
Michael, love all your videos they are so creative! When you are screwing in a screw I notice you back it out a bit, and then put it back in. Is this just a habit or have you found some benefit from it? I just pre-drill, drive in all the way and move on. I was just curious. As always thank you for sharing!
I saw that you used a spindle sander with a belt assembly. I was trying to figure out if I wanted something like that or belt/disk sander and a dedicated spindle sander. What are your thoughts on that?
Hello, Can you make a Tamiya/Vallejo/Mr Color Paint Holder/Rack, Modelers we have problems finding stuff like that or they are way to expensive thanks in advance 🙏
For the router on the patterned plywood, if you had done it in 2-3 depth passes it might have survived a lot better. Taking full depth cuts on a router with delicate pieces is always asking for trouble. haha
I really like the idea of raising the laptop spot up, but you really should've considered duplicating it in the left side too, thus leaving the option of moving things around on the workbench (good for your neck, remember?)
Thanks to Policygenius for sponsoring this video! policygenius.com/michaelalm
I really appreciate that you show the whole making and problem solving process by not editing out mistakes or hurdles. Thanks for showing that builds aren’t always smooth sailing!
From someone with OCD, thank you so so much for making the nail gun match the music.
This workbench is so well constructed and thought out. I know you said it wasn't "precious" but it's obvious how much you value your partner and her work throughout this entire video.
Did you mean "perfect"?
If someone made something this amazing for me I would just drop dead of happiness
OMG the patience for repairing the patterned plywood...
The many other nitty gritty elements are so impressive. Lucky GF. Congrats!
Love the close up of confused dog at end! Looks great
Also, I really enjoyed the whole three videos. Didn’t realise how much maths u need to do quickly in woodwork!
I'm so glad I'm not the only one that uses his old talenti jars in the garage!
The finishing touches make all the difference. Love the open slats on top, all the hand made storage solutions for the back, and the leftover patterned ply drawer fronts are just beautiful. Great job on this entire build 👍
Your work is always above par
All this organisation is soooo satisfying
I love that you shared the hammer holder was a "fail". I find every project I make, even when Ive watched video tutorials or followed detailed plans, will have multiple fails and rewrites. its nice to see even professional wood workers work through the same things.
I recently learnt a trick when using the big hole saw. Let the wood rotate and rest against the upright of the drill press

13:48 your sander is keeping up with the music ;)
It's a match made in heaven!!
omg!!
Good video, cool ideas for organizing but the thumbs up is for that good doggo... little dude was stoked to lay on that bed
This video was satisfying!
Thanks Giaco 😁

That’s a good idea!
Awesome work from an amazing wood worker and artist ( Wood-artist)
Thank you very much!
Impressive ! I really like the pull-out work surface on the right hand side - that's inspired !
Nicely done! I may need to make one for my wife. Thanks for the videos.
So good. I picked up a tip for mixing epoxy too - no more searching round for a scrap piece of plastic to mix it on :)
I started with one video I saw on "foureyes"... Literaly down a rabbit hole now lol, beautiful channel!!
Welcome aboard! Thank you 😁
What a dream of a workbench! Amazing.
Very nice.. Great result. I didn't see a lot of sanding process on the plywood surfaces, but it looks so soft. 👍👍👍
Very nice. Enjoyed the series!
Happy wife... and happy dog ! 👍👍👍
I couldn’t survive without my Talenti containers. Delicious and utilitarian, what more can you ask for?
Would love to see how Ashley ended up setting up the whole work bench and drawers.
Great work again! Couldn't wait to see how it turned out! 😎🤘
Really really really cool!
Michael you are an inspiration, and have truly made a difference. I am looking forward to being able to set my workshop up.
Thank you so much for sharing.
Looking forward to seeing more projects.
Good luck to both of you....and Winston xx
Looks (and is !) great tout use it seams. Congratulations !
Love it man - great design all around!
Oh my gosh, I want a work bench!!!! (I make wire tree sculptures and that would be heckin awesome!!!!)
Awsome - more than one learning during this video! This is a great source of inspiration and skills
AMAZING! You made me want to build one for myself, I wish I had the skill, experience, or tools for it...
So cool to see everything put to use at the end!
Really inspirational video, thank you. Gave me the urge to start at last on mine, great job!
the sander was in time with the song. epic
Tony is a great Guy! Nice video
Wonderful project, congratulations Michael. Keep it up, I always follow you. SL
Awesome video! Thank you, Michael!

Such a cool workspace!!! Great ideas!
I have that same Bostitch brad nailer and I absolutely loathe it, just waiting for the day I can upgrade to the cordless Milwaukee. The Bostitch jams on every third nail!
Interesting. I’ve had mine for 3-4 years and it’s never jammed
What a huge holesaw kit! $$$
I know 😬 treated myself
I’d be super Thankful if my hubby did this for me. Instead it’s me fitting out his man cave.😂😂🇦🇺🇦🇺🙏🙏 LOVE THE DRAW FRONTS. No I know where I can house all my pliers too👍
The most important bit is the Good Boy holder.
AMAZING work, as always! congratulauions
Amazing job; congrats!
Top class, as usual. Thank you.
Awesome and functional
1:55 ...not just any old ice pick, but a Diresta Ice Pick.
I can see installing strips of LED lights between the slats.
Awesome build! I spend too much time building stuff to make stuff for myself!! Lol
I needed this episode. You should see my tool bench! It’s a disaster...
That's great, Michael. I wish I could organize my shop like that but, alas, it's futile. Take care.
Bill
Just watching live shaper session and seeing you comment when I get a notification your new video is live. 😂😂
Hahaha! I'm multi tasking today 😉
nice! glad to see it done and moved into :)

Yes sir corbels is the correct term, heard that while watching black dog salvage
Fabulous!

love this!
Best part of this video is at 27:39!
Love the workbench! I have a bunch of the Swiss Made palm tools. By any chance, do you have a template or measurements to make the palm tool holder?
Good job planning a space for the doggy pillow! And the roof rack shelf is awesome.
I am wondering what brand your tool pouch (right hip) is, please. Thanks!
Thank you for showing your mistakes (plywood blowout)!
Michael, love all your videos they are so creative! When you are screwing in a screw I notice you back it out a bit, and then put it back in. Is this just a habit or have you found some benefit from it? I just pre-drill, drive in all the way and move on. I was just curious. As always thank you for sharing!
I wonder if eventually she'll switch over to the infinity grid solution.
OMG! I recognize the Talenti Gelato containers you’re using. I save them to use in my shop too. Is that Double chocolate chip?🍨
Would love to see Ashley's art if anyone has a link?
French cleats no option? Nice video!
Winston FTW!
I did not find the link for making pattern plywood.
Thanks,
Dave Janis
Ooop! I fixed it. Thanks for letting me know, and here's a link ua-cam.com/play/PLubIXu5zYL2-Jn8fruy568Hi2CMZY7pDy.html
Hey, it's been two years since you made this workbench for Ashley... how's it working out? Does she like it? Made any updates?
I saw that you used a spindle sander with a belt assembly. I was trying to figure out if I wanted something like that or belt/disk sander and a dedicated spindle sander. What are your thoughts on that?
I use it on just about every project. That said I very rarely use the spindles. Too much hassle to swap out.
Hello, Can you make a Tamiya/Vallejo/Mr Color Paint Holder/Rack, Modelers we have problems finding stuff like that or they are way to expensive thanks in advance 🙏
Great build! Got plans for a stool to go with it?
Anybody know what kind of straight edge that is? The orange one
For the router on the patterned plywood, if you had done it in 2-3 depth passes it might have survived a lot better. Taking full depth cuts on a router with delicate pieces is always asking for trouble. haha
Nice work buddy! Ashley seems to really like it. Do you think penetrating epoxy would help hold the pattern plywood together?
Thanks dude! I’m not sure what epoxy would do... might be worth a shot
I really like the idea of raising the laptop spot up, but you really should've considered duplicating it in the left side too, thus leaving the option of moving things around on the workbench (good for your neck, remember?)
Are those rusty screws? I’m curious about that design choice. Is it intended to match the metal dowels as they oxidize?
I believe that is a coating on the screws. I have some like that.
Awesome..
say hi to winston for us. more winston please
This one needed WInstons aproval too i see :) Lovely dog nice project.
What kind of dog is Winston??
Also, great video as always.
