The dialogue from your team mates is flat, because they are pawns. Pawns don't have emotions and they mostly lack will power to make their own decisions.
Came here to say this! They’re basically robots. I do hope they have a little more variety in their call outs than they used to, but I always found their flat dialogue super funny, in the same way that the ridiculous timing and delivery of a lot of Bethesda dialogue always makes me laugh.
I was gonna say the same thing, it was said in the first game that these pawns don't have emotions so they are efficient in battle but when without an arisen they are clumsy asf.
I can only imagine what this game will have, considering they had to cut 75% out of the original game due to budget, I'm wondering if they will bring any of their numerous cut ideas into this game. I want to go to the moon...
Dragons Dogma made me have much less tolerance in fighting huge enemies by hacking at its butt all day. You could climb cyclops enemies and break their tusks, blind them by taking out their eye, make them drop their club by hitting their hand, or make them lose balance by going for their legs to better do any of the above. Much more thought put into the bigger enemies than most games do. I actually looked forward to fighting big enemies because of it.
DRAGONS DOGMA the only action rpg in the previews gen to ever actually allow the player character to grab and scale ALMOST anything. Sans Shadow of Colossus and Monster Hunter. The former was a ps2 game and the latter offers very limited scalability.
I can see how new players would be annoyed by the pawn chatter but for me the goofy, endearing dialogue from the first game is one of the most memorable parts.
I don’t remember it bothering me besides when all of them would repeat the same dialogue over each other. I think it’ll overall be a nitpick that won’t be an issue in the final game.
@@kkammei just like how people complained about the repeated chatter in Xenoblade 3 but for me I just grew to love hearing “Hear that Noah? Lanz wants something a bit meatier” If the lines are funny enough I don’t mind hearing them over and over. But if they’re just boring and out of place I could see it getting old
The running/standing on the enemy IS INTENTIONAL actually, so you can use "skill" while on top of the enemy or recover stamina while on top (because clinging drain your stamina like crazy) and the dev actually said this in the interview
The pawns talk like that because they are essentially homunculi with no emotion whose only purpose is to serve the arisen. Still can be annoying though :)
Lol you're going to change your mind about the dialogue once you got used with it in Dragons Dogma 1. They are endearing and very fun to listen to and its something you don't get from coop.
@@jonathantalley6110 thats why the dragon took basically no damage until the guy started slashing his more vulnerable parts... the thick hide was basically untouchable to a normal soldier.
Love hearing people talk about DD and never played it, I remember being new and it was glorious, remeber all wolves hunt in packs 😏🤣, but yeah Luke it's actually in the lore of why they say stuff aloud, they are there to serve and basically die for ya since they are pawns, but this game plans to make em feel more like a pack a friends which is cool cause once i saw the high five i was hyped as hell 😂.
This gameplay trailer and other showcases from this game , got me to bought dragons dogma arisen , this is a new experience for me and so far the game is a positive surprise . Im definitely going to buy dragons dogma 2 😁
better combat than from software games but fanboys won't agree..you cannot hold a candle to capcom in combat department ...This game is going to be a big surprise and this time it will get it's due recognition
Dragon's Dogma has some of the most interesting gameplay, like not only can you jump and climb on monsters, but you can also cut off parts to get stuff. Like I still remember jumping on a cyclops to get on his face to stab his out. Or the first time fighting a griffin, I hopped on and went for its wings. Only for it to fly up into the stratosphere as I felt my stamina go down, praying for it to land. It did NOT land and I just slow fell to the earth. Good times
If this helps with anybody's issues with the dialogue, it makes sense in the context of the game. Your pawns are emotionless beings, they don't have any will of their own other than to serve the arisen. They are basically robots, at most you will hear them yell a little if an attack is incoming or something, not because they are excited or scared, but yelling to get your attention.
You know those games that you play multiple times because how fun the gameplay is, this is one of those games. Dragon's Dogma is a dream for fantasy open world lovers of the genre.
To be honest if it's fun I won't mind jank or graphics that isn't the absolute best in the world. In my opinion if a game can't draw you in with a core gameplay loop no amount of nice looking trees will make up for a lack in the gameplay department.
You also play elden ring already? Also would recommend Lies of P if you haven’t played it. But yeah. I’m about to play through dragons dogma for the first time soon.
@@anonymousinfinido2540 yup, especially Bitterblack Isle. People who gave up in a few hours of early game missed out a big chunk of good contents in Everfall post Dragon and Bitterblack Isle
Yeah people would be happy if the pawn's were yelling anytime you were in combat lol, also what looked janky here outside of the climbing which i have never seen look good in any game(looks off in MH too).
I remember LOVING dragons dogma 1... as a child. I wonder if I'll enjoy this as an adult... the dialog is very bad, and the game isn't skill based at all, it is all about stats.. but I must've loved it for a reason, hopefully I'm wrong and the game is amazing
Tbh, the actual dialogue (I mean *what* they say and not *how*) was the same in DD1. It had this very specific, stiff, old English style and was a deliberate design choice that sets the game apart from most other fantasy games. I agree though that the way *how* they say it is a bit off. What I mean is: It would be fine and in-theme for the pawns to say "It seems we have enraged it!", but the voiceacting should emphasize the urgency more. Don't just say it, shout it.
The dialogue is just like the original one. Flat, annoying, and always so here. However the giant monster skating and exploration will more than make up for it!
Loved the first one, for how long its been since the first it doesnt seem like they did much different. Graphics look slightly better but looks very similar to the first. Monsters are bigger. Hoping for more we will see closer to release
Honestly I thought it looked like a ps3 game. Not trying to be a hater but I did not get the feeling that it was going to be good at all. Hope I’m wrong

The problem with the first game is that even regular NPCs felt flat and robotic. I hope they will put emphasis on humanizing NPCs
ITS WEAK TO FIRE ARISEN!
As a big fan of the original, this is exactly what I’ve wanted. The same but more and on a bigger scale. It’s perfect
