I was privileged to meet Van stage door Ulster Hall a few Years ago now. He shook my hand, Just doing a job, he quipped, he then signed the common one album so neatly squeezing his name into small space!
Wonderful interview....natural back and forth talking between people____Van Morrison and Marty Whelan..thanks for sharing this conversation. Like it, Love it.
Its good to hear Van talking so naturally to Marty instead of holding things back which he so often does. Cheers and thanks for the excellent interview
An introvert and a reader. How wonderful. It shows in interviews and more so in his music. “The peak of your powers.” Yeah, man. Your duty IS to keep singing. The Outsider by Colin Wilson. Brilliant. Show business conformists. He tells it like it is. He is in his own Club.
When you see Sri Sir Van advertising insurance ( unlikely ) then we will know he was a conformist all along ! Thank you for your music sir van - you have given me so much Peace and Joy over the years 🕊️✌️
This was an interesting interview. I love what he says beginning at 7:12. Many of the performers of Van's generation get the image as if they are rebellious and nonconformists but in actuality they are total fakes. He knows what he is talking about. What I always loved about Van is that in interviews he always stand out from most performers in their 60s and 70s. Like when I hear Bonnie Raitt in interviews she is the biggest bore who talks in endless cliches. The only things that I find annoying about Van is that he often times has a tendency to sound like a cranky old uncle. But I love his music so much that I always excuse that. Also that duet album Van had sold alright. Van's always acts like he doesn't get promoted as well as he should. I saw on celebritynetworth that he is worth 90 million. I know there are many performers without a fraction of his talent who are worth hundred of millions but he still does pretty good I think in terms of making money.
I love Van but at 90 mil can't he sell his tickets for less? I mean 345 to 400$? I guess that's what schmucks are paying now...but my God I saw the who in 72 for 10 to 15 bucks....no wonder music is floundering.
Van Morrison,Tom Waits,Bob Dylan,Neil Young,Lou Reed,Leonard Cohen,Paul Simon,Gordon Lightfoot, These guys, I mean, who gonna take their place when they are gone???? I feel sorry for kids today, who they got, Niki Minage????
One of the world's greatest musicians without question. He doesn't give many interviews - probably just as well. Let's be honest - he's pretty dull. Not much of interest here.
Idk I think he's very interesting and entertaining. Idk what you expect from him but this is a way better interview then most of the other interviews I've ever watched. And I've watched a ton. The best most inspirational interviews I've ever heard are from artists like him. As in this style interview/personality and listen to his words they're deeper then most could comprehend and very interesting to dissect. He sounds relaxed and natural. He's not forcing something on you he's just him. If that's not why you're here listening to this (to gain a greater insight into a greats mindset) then idk why you commented even
I see conformity also among singers. Van is unique and always will be. Cheers Van! You are loved dearly. 💚🍀

Van was laughing, nice to hear! He is brilliant. Nice interview.
The most intelligent answers to interview questions come from Van the Man .....no pause to make something up....just 3 Chords and the Truth...
Such a lovely note to end on. “There is no past. There is no future. It’s all just happening now.” The fruit of the Search...
VM is amazing. So true. Inspiration isn't enough. Hard work/Consistency is key.

IN ALL VAN MORRISON'S INTERVIEWS HE REVEALS HIMSELF TO BE A HIGHLY INTELLIGENT, DOWN- TO -EARTH , VERY INTERGRATED PERSON AND ARTIST.

adanacman666 ed sheeran
adanacman666 You pretty much listed all of the greatest songwriters ever ... except for Lennon and McCartney.
You are absolutely right. I am glad that i grew up with musicians like Van Morrison etc.
That’s why their suicide rate is so high.
Great Writers aren't always great conversationalist
There is nothing wrong with this conversation.

He's not FLASHY. He's ann introvert. He has no need to make you like him. There's a difference.
