I've never played mother 1 so I might be wrong here, but ness just seems like a very courageous kid. Ness took all of his foes head on even through unsurmountable odds. When he was asked at the end of the game if he would transfer his consciousness into a robot to save the world even though it might kill him he did it with no hesitation. Ninten is just a kid compared to ness, it dosent exactly mean ninten is super scared of his foes, just that he is far more serious and weary then ness is about things
Earthbound feels like a power fantasy, with the main character being super-powered and ready for everything thrown at them. Ninten on the other hand... He fares as well as a kid his age would in the situations he's put into; which is to say, not very well.
why does everyone call this the sanctuary guardian theme when this came before sanctuary guardian? if anything, everyone should be calling sanctuary guardian "battle with a dangerous foe"
@PrimeOctober it is because usually people hear sacristy guardian before hearing this song. This causes them to reference it. It is just a matter of popularity, rather than release date
This gave me the feeling of: “any wrong action will result you with a conclusion of life or death” the song sounds like it’s jumping between you living and you dying
I definitely like Earthbound's rendition better, but this actually sounds like boss music. I can't wait to get my physical copy of this game (it's the official translation burned onto an NES cartridge)!
@@archusrtm6325 I meant in the context of Earthbound with the sanctuary guardians. Although, reading this comment again, I do see how it really only made sense in my head.
I think both renditions have their own charms, and fit with their game's overall nature. The one in Earthbound Beginnings sounds rather scary and ominous, which is fitting due to playing in a "Battle With a Dangerous Foe" and Earthbound Beginning's more serious story. The one in Earthbound (SNES) sounds more calm, steady, almost as if telling players to think carefully with their actions and approach the fight thoughtfully, which is fitting as its used for the Sanctuary Guardians. In addition, the song has a bit of weirdness to it (what with its occasional random sound effect being thrown in), which fits the Guardians' wacky designs, and the game's more quirky feel.
Many thanks for uploading this song! I'd been searching for it for quite some time since it's good music, so I'm quite glad I finally have it on my Playlist.
This isn't actually the one from the meme though, the one in the meme is from mother 2/earthbound The sanctuary gaurdian theme, it's just a remix of this one tho
The “What How?” Meme comes from an Earthbound song called Sanctuary Guardian due to how weird it is (good song highly recommended) this game, is called Earthbound Beginnings in the west and came before earthbound. Why does this matter? Sanctuary Guardian is a slowed version of this song.
Ninten's arrangement of this song is more intense than Ness's, which implies that Ninten is much more scared of his enemies than Ness.

no it doesn't, it just means the composer changed it in the second game idiot
Or that the composer wanted the first battle music your hear sounding threatening.
This is just the Sanctuary Guardian theme, but instead of it being strange, it's... _Actually kind of threatening._
