I grew up in Palatine in the 60's and 70's. (I currently live in McHenry). What happened to my tiny little town? So many old, classic homes torn down for condos. My grandparents house, which was on Palatine Rd., just west of 14, is now a parking lot for the park. So many memories gone. :(
I remember what it looked like back in the early 80s, and I had worked in Palatine for the better part of almost 20 years from 1983 to 2002... Many of the big changes took place after about 2001... The village USED to be very nice and homelike...Now, it's all about the $$$$$$$, and I AM NOT IMPRESSED! I'm glad I left the area, and Chicago in general in 2005... I grew up all around this kind of upscale, "Show me the money!" garbage in NYC Metro where I'm originally from, and now back again! If I want to venture back out to the Midwest, I'll go further out where the sprawl (and the stupidity) ISN'T!
