I'm from Detroit and swapped hellcats are VERY common. A lot of these people not only steal hellcats, but they pull out the engine and slap it into a mopar shell, then hide an airtag in that car so they can steal back the vary engine they just sold!! The cycle keeps going untill they get caught.

Two sides to every coin. Definitely isn’t worth saving the 100 a month. Insurance values the car less so you are more prone to totals.
You’re saving $50k+ upfront. You can buy 3 bodies and swap in a motor 3 times before you spend as much as the hellcat
Just because you total your car it doesn’t mean the insurance has to keep it. They can write you a check and you still get to keep the car.

The insurance company will try to recover whatever possible from the claim.. the insurance pays out at least the value of it on the market so say 80-90k on a 120k hellcat redeye .thats to whoever got there car stolen from them. There's a lot of fraud claims done just like that tho. A fully stripped car and bye it back reassemble and you just got the car +cash . and if you got the parts that match up to that than it's nothing more than put in back together..

Salvage auctions and junkyards is where it’s at!
Odb2 reports the vin that’s encoded in the cars ECU. This vin won’t match the body vin if the engine and ecu have been swapped. The ecu can be reprogrammed to report the body vin, but that usually takes specific knowledge and tools.

If it says v6 and that mofo is a high powered v8, yes sir, they will look for the vin or any other identifying marks they can find to see if that engine came from a stolen car.

I get pulled over almost every 2 weeks in Sandy springs GA, and I decided to get Waffle House at 3 am with my lady and I saw a cop waiting outside my complex which is the usual and I told her.. watch him follow me to the gas station. And he did, and another cruiser pulled up while I was getting gas. As soon as I left to head to Waffle House, he got right behind me. I pulled over before he turned on his lights and popped my hood. yeah some parts are from partouts. and some could be legit. the best way to get a cheap one is buy a salvage. its not hard to find cheap non-oem panels for these cars if you need them. but when it comes to profit stolen is best. People who sell doors and engines don’t necessarily means it’s stolen people will sometimes part out a car that’s been financed and they stopped making payments on them so the bank puts a lien on it and they turn around and part out the whole car or sometimes the parts come out from wrecked vehicles that have unrepairable titles

As far as the parts from a Hellcat, have ever considered what happens when you wreck your Hellcat, such that insurance totals the car but you wish to keep the car. In most states, the insurance company has to report this status to the state DMV, upon which a new title “brand” will be issued reflecting the new status of the car, be it salvage flood, salvage fire, salvage rebuilt, etc. Most people take the salvage payout and run. If the insurance company has “totaled” it, they have determined that it is worth less the cost to repair it, and that percentage relationship varies by state. In SC the law says that “if it has sustained less than 75% of the fair market value or if the fair market value was less than $2000”, pre- accident, obviously. Some things are worth more to some people than others. All of these people who let their heavily damaged 1971 Hemi Cuda convertible 4 speed optioned out baby get “totaled out” back in 1978 are kicking themselves right now, cause totaled or not, that thing would be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. Our RTs, SRT8s, and Scatpacks of today will be the big-block (383, 440) or Hemi big block priceless gems of tomorrow. In some cases they already are. If you bought an SRT8 car in the 2005-2008 zone, and kept it in great shape and low mileage, say less than 50,000 miles, it’s worth more today than it was new. Magnums, of course, yay me, will be even more sought after, by way of their limited production run. Smoke em if you got em.

They are ghetto cars and preffer to purchase a 2024 Audi RS7, which has a V8 Twin turbo and the same exact ZF transmission as the hell cat. Or a BMW M4 or M5 AND or a v8 AMG Benz. This is nothing new ffs. Crooks been doing this since the 60-70’s frfr. Buying 4-6cyl Fords and renting 5.0’s for engine swaps. LS’s and Vipers same thing, buying SRT-10 truck engines for Viper swaps etc. Now it’s V-6 Chargers/Challengers bought legit for 6.4 Scat Packs to SRT Helly’s. Same “trick” different Car Brand/Model. It’s the “wifi”. That gets the info out ASAP…..
Instead of learning from the mistakes the Gbody/LS swap crew, Trailblazer ss guys of a decade or more ago they only got goofier. By goofier i mean building social media platforms around stolen engine builds, advertising builds using stolen engines, starting businesses around stolen engine swaps, going to meets,takeovers, riding with no hood, errything u can think of to draw attention.
They were putting stolen Caddy Escalade/Denali/Surburban in Gbodys with fresh LOUD paint, Street Spin wheels and everything else to make sure that mf stick out. Even carb’d swapped cops were snatching these cars as the owner was asked “You got a 2010 Escalade motor in your 1984 Monte. Do you have the paperwork for this engine?” They couldn’t answer because the engine was stolen and the car was seized.

If you buy it from a scrapyard you can get a receipt, you buy it off the street and don't get a receipt they can easily say its stolen
