Outstanding footage, pretty amazing setting and environment. Which frame rate and file format did you use?. Still getting used to the Z9, JPEG frame grabs only work with 8 bit file formats. Looking forward to your photos from the Z9. Thanks
Thank you! For the video, this is all recorded with 4k 120fps and 8k 30fps on the H.265 8-bit option. I have a small memory card so I couldn't try out the 10-bit. Interesting to hear about the screen capture being limited to 8-bit. I'm sure you could extract it with software on a computer in 10-bit.
@Roald Credo I don’t know. I thought I read somewhere that it is 800 iso, but that could be something else. I just switched the video quality to ProRes to see if it limited my ISO and it did not. Any idea how to find this out?
@Roald Credo Ah yes, that must be it for N-log. I was able to have the ISO on 64 for ProRes SDR so it appears it goes all the way down to 64 ISO. On the high end, it will go all teh way up to Hi2, but it does not go into the Lo-iso values.
Thank you! There are a few comment threads in my latest two videos that discuss a few AF issues. Mostly it works well, but not as well as I had hope for. It’s still a struggle to get proper AF on birds - at least the birds I’ve been shooting so far.
@@aorr Yeah so I thought. Nikon it's great but I still believe that they are one step behind Canon and Sony when it comes to AF at least in video which is not surprising since Nikon came to video table quite late as well as in mirrorless. Thank you.
@@andreiiasi I agree. I still have faith in Nikon and they still have an absolutely amazing camera. The ergonomics on the camera are so nice. The build quality is absolutely incredible. It is such a joy to use the camera even with a few annoyances here and there.
@@aorr 100% agreed...I am a Nikon user myself and always been. Just hope that they will make cameras more price friendly like Canon and Sony on the video side. I am sure the photo side is just as good at least.
@@aorr This has been my experience too - though I have found the Z9 seems to track focus better in video than still mode - but my tests have been few so far due to horrid weather, etc.
Fantastic work! Your eye and editing is superb. Would love to know about the lenses you used and the AF modes, but sometimes I think we just have to appreciate a beautiful finished work for what it is.
Thank you! I really appreciate the comment and compliment! As for the lens, it’s all shot with the Nikon 600mm f/4E lens. For AF mode, I almost exclusively used Wide Area AF. I did play with some other modes but found that one to be the most useful. Still experimenting these days though. :-)
@@aorr I've been using the 600mm f/4G ED VR mostly so far, and the 500 PF. But I am also early in experimenting and trying to find the formula. Time and weather are keeping me from it at the moment, but I hope to shoot a lot of 4k/120fps video soon.
@@bobbyvwildlife Hope you get it soon! I was very amazed mine showed up on the first day of shipments. It’s an amazing camera. I am not so thrilled with the AF performance on the FTZII and 600mm, but it may just be a learning curve I need to learn. Lots and lots of the focus not being able to lock onto birds. :-(
@@prokremelskidezolati1426 Thanks! I’ll have to play around with it some more and try different settings. There are so many menu items it’s hard to remember where each setting is so I think it’ll take some time to dial it in correctly.
Amazing work Andy. Great music selection as well. Happy New Year to you!
Amazing. well-done!
Wow looks great in 4K Epic music, first footage I have watched on the Z9 looks amazing ! 👍😍
Good stuff, Andy!!
