- Some have called them the worst band of the nineties, but the fact remains that Creed has sold over 53 million albums worldwide and had a great run as one of the most popular bands of the 90s and 2000s. Led by Scott Stapp, many mocked the band, but people kept buying their albums and seeing their concerts. Yet, over time, substance abuse and addictions took their toll on Stapp and the rest of the band, but with them reuniting for an upcoming nostalgia tour, it’s time to look back at one of the most divisive bands of their era - CREED!

Human Clay is a thoroughly enjoyable album. The lyrics to Creed's songs are cheesy as hell, but no one can deny Mark Tremonti sure knows how to compose catchy tunes.
I remember Creed were frequently ridiculed despite being very successful during their heyday, which makes me think there's lots of closeted Creed fans out there.
I'm so glad the rest of the band (especially Tremonti) got to do Alter Bridge. They really got a chance to shine there. All talented musicians and it showed with a lead singer that didn't need 100% of the spotlight.
Creed is the Nickleback of Nickelbacks and Nickelback is the Creed of Creeds and Dane Cook is the…
As a Rangers fan, I'll always have a special place in my heart for Creed
Same. I'd put on headphones & listen to their songs while watching the world series.
What do they have to do with the Rangers?
@@JohnnyNiteTrain Rangers hit a rough patch towards the end of the regular season, so they started listening to Creed & played their music in the clubhouse throughout the playoffs. So, Creed was kind of their rally cry & started winning. Many credit Creed for the Rangers playoff success & ultimately winning the world series.
I just recently became a Creed fan last year, so happy they're starting to become relevant again. I'm rooting for them. Such a great video Jo, as always.
Say what you will about Creed but Tremonti's guitars are some of the best you'll ever hear. Creed had some bangers but Scott Stapp's mental illness (and narcissism) ultimately held them back.
Right?? His tone is memorable
If I’m not mistaken, he was eventually diagnosed with bipolar disorder, with Scott saying that he broke down in tears of joy at the diagnosis, as it was a relief to have a better understanding as to why he was the way he is.
Yup. Been loving his guitar work in AlterBridge for the last 20 years!!💪
I don’t agree but I do think that’s a very unexpectedly refreshing choice for someone’s underrated guitarists list. He’s definitely the best part about them, no doubt. But I’ll stick with Keith Levine’s aural note scrawling.
No they're not
If feels like Creed was Nickelback of the 90s, Right?
Yeah but without every song being about sex.
Creed was the Nickelback of the late 90s and early 2000s. Everyone hates them but for some reason they are huge
Creed was a good band with a great vocalist and guitarist but Scott’s mistakes over shadowed that and everyone loves to bring people down and talk crap about a band because everyone else does it. Scott is a human being who made mistakes and admitted it and has become a cool guy. A lot of people actually like creed including me because why else would they be having a tour again this year if they sucked that bad.
Got my tickets for their summer show in Sept 2024. Gonna be awesome
Creed was...is.... awesome!
I still Love CREED, after all these years❤️
I've always been a fan of Creed and it's great to see them back. I'll be seeing them in concert later this year.
one of the things i like about the whole band is the maturity journey they all have gone thru (stapp) and how they have look past their mistakes and have been amicable enough to work together leaving their egos aside and celebrating their history
I had only seen an exploding dove once in a cartoon. So when they brought it to life during the Super Bowl with that dove full of fireworks... it was epic.
Great! Now I'm searching for creed on youtube and fell down a circa 2004 rabbit hole of music.
They still remain my most favorite band loved it
Creed is a great example of when the sum of the parts is less than the whole.
Each piece of Creed on their own is outstanding. But, together as a band, are simply just another average rock band that just as easily could have never been heard of.
And they became so much more than the sum of their parts musically in AlterBridge!💪💪🎸
The single "What If", is featured in Scream 3.
I dont know why i randomly thought of creed today and i was jaming out to them in my car wondering what happened to them and now they are making a reunion? I am having major fomo now. Must go on cruise....
"Naked Toddler" 😂😂😂 Are you fvcking kidding???
With arms wide open and outside and my sacrifice and higher are my favorite creed songs
All l can say l will always love them and totally they are phenomenon..Always will be a fan and friend ❤❤❤🎉
OMG bro I was there 2001, I was there 👍🍻
Over 15 minutes long when all you gotta say is Scott Stapp couldn't stop getting higher and be done with it.
CREED WAS NOT THE WORST BAND OF THE 90'S AND 2000'S, I REMEMBER WHEN THEY CAME OUT, AND THEY DEBUTED WHEN THE WORLD NEEDED IT, ILL NEVER FORGET THAT, I WAS LAYING IN A HOSPITAL FIGHTING FOR MY LIFE, I HAD 9 HEART ATTACKS AND LOST 2/3RDS OF MY HEART, AND THEN THE WORLD CHANGED FOREVER ON 09/11/01, I ALSO CAME HOME FROM HOSPITAL ON THAT DAY, I WENT IN HOSPITAL ON 09/05/01!! I WILL ALWAYS HAVE A CONNECTION WITH CREED!!! IM SO GLAD TO HEAR THAR THEY ARE COMING BACK
Creed had talent. It also had Stapp, which was a curse as much as a blessing, not unlike a lot of frontmen whose egos grow too big for the creative process. C'est la vie.
I’ve always liked Creed’s music. They’re a fine band.
I honestly thought they meme'd their way back to the Super Bowl halftime show-but I would (as much as anyone would) lose it if they did a cut break during Usher's performance this year as did Rick Astley did at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in the middle of Usher's performance
"With Arms Wide Open" still haunts my dreams.
All I hear is the with legs wide open parody
Weird, I never connected Pearl Jam with Creed.
Your commentary was great!
Cheers 🍻
Creed went to become a major important character in The Office
Creed was a great band!! I especially love the first 2 albums. They were on heavy rotation in my gym music playlist! 🎶
Do a WTF happened to Tom Welling or James Van Der Beek. Those dudes just disappeared.
"What omg...what ladies & gentlemen there is a Creed & Kid Rock s*x tape out there. And I'm just assuming that nobody should ever watch it. It's probably like the tape from "The Ring" like if you watch you're going to die in 7 days..." JoBlo. 😂
Does anyone else remember when he did VH1 Couple's Therapy with Big Ang (Mob Wives), Janice Dickerson, and Joe Budden? Good tv lol
so random ! love it ! nothing is off limits
You should do Eric Robert’s next!
What if is what got me into rock … heck… music in general
Create sucks then and still sucks now, ty for the vid
Came here for this. Never liked them, never will.
I will be a creed fan forever, anything with mark tremonti I will be a fan
Creed was our nickleback
Hell yeah. Creed is what Americans need right now. Glad theybare having a revival. Memes and all.
Can’t believe I enjoy watching video about Creed🐒
Who?
I enjoy to listening Human Clay album. That album is thier best album by far. Most of Creed songs sound familiar and Scott Stapp voice is ridiculously creepy at some point.
IMO, Alter Bridge is a better band.
Still better than nickelcrack and Daughtry
Barely. They're still a garbage band.
Not totally denying that.😁
Do Rage Against The Machine please.
Love them
Creed to me came out at the perfect time for their brand. Are they actually good? I will say, yes, they are. In the early days it was the live shows. I had seen Creed several times over a short period of time and they just kept blowing bands off the stage. Then they got famous. Not saying they weren't famous before but those live shows but they were always epic live. Almost always toured with Sevendust and Nickelback, this was the early days still before 2000 when Nickelback was actually good to me. They wrote good songs, heavy riffs. Alt Metal was shifting during that time as well. I still think Stapp is a shithead though lol.
Im watching that tape.
I've never heard of them
They took my sacrifice literally 😬
There first two albums were amazing
Brett Hestla was an amazing guitar player and vocalist in his own right, he should have always been the front man, even tho he joined later😂. Check him out in Virgos Merlot.
taylor has a pretty voice
Nickelback versus Creed.
This is how you remind me with arms wide open
Mid for sure.... but they owned in the 90's 🙂. Lots of drama followed them everywhere.
Gonna be awesome to hear em again!!!
Wtf happened to Marlyn Manson as in the band not just Brian
Knowing them personally somewhat make me realize how mislead people are.
At least they're not as bad as Nickelback...
When nerds get drunk..its get bad..summon up..
This was the best! Not Creed, but THIS! And the imitations were spot on! Thank you, super funny! xo
❤
Creed was fine. Not terrible, not legendary. Fine.
Aside from their radio hits, their albums were absolute bangers!
He is going to portray who?? 😳
The wwe videos perfect
i love creed
I havent though about them in decades. I enjoyed that fact. Now ill go back to neving thinking about their shit music.
I like the band
Babble-on happened to Creed.
The only thing I know of them and the only song I liked was _Higher_, specifically thanks to Titan A.E.
All this other stuff I had no idea about!
I won’t deny that the members of Creed are talented, but their songs were definitely derivative and kind of generic “grunge” sounding. They were way too Christian for me. As someone who was a teenager during the grunge hay day, I couldn’t and still can’t stand them.
Great band creed they used to sings 3 popular songs I used to know with arms wide open I used to hear it on the radio my sacrifice from titan ae soundtrack and higher from titan ae soundtrack
The first song I heard was what if from scream 3. I’m not a huge fan of their style
That's another song chart topper song they sang also from scream 3 soundtrack
can you do wtf happened to michael bolton?
Great puns!!
This band has always been my number one favorite band, then skillet and so on.
Alot
*exploiting feelz to get us to invade countries was well done by Creed, but they're second best. For maximum cringe, I refer you to John Ashcroft singing, "let the eeeeeeaaagles FLY".*
Got married n divorced to this music ❤😢❤
By listening to a rip-off of Pearl Jam
They got taken higher
What happened..? They suck to much for a what happened because they never did happen.
You can't deny that they were HUGE in the late 90's, early 2000"s!
@@SubmissionGrappler83 Doesn't mean they were any good.
@@deadbeats4894 Their radio hits weren't as good as the other songs on their albums.
NFL need to take some fukken lessons from this performance.
🦁😎🎸
Not as good than Nickelback LMAOOOOOO 😂😂😂
Nickleback was a re-branded version of creed, and they both sucked
@@bigdaddydudely2002 FACTS!!!
Creed always has been shit
All their album covers are complete dogshit and I was a gigantic fan back in my teens. Loved them growing up, but they arent a band I go back to these days like some of my other favorites.
I wanna like this video because it gave me new info on a band I like but I don’t want to because Taylor sounds so fuckin embarrassed to be doing it in the first place. I get that he’s the main WTF narrator, but come on, try not to sound like a cringing high schooler.
You sound like one of those haters, but maybe I'm just hearing shit. Creed haters are nerds that think hating on the band makes them edgy and cool. jealousy and envy was a big part in all the hate as well. whats funny to me is that anything Stapp did, was the worst thing a human being could do..meanwhile the same people talking shit about the guy, were the biggest A holes in their neighborhood. how many vocalist in rock have done insane things in their drug fueled careers, but you never see so many people scrutinize or criticize their personal lives as much as this guys.
Love creed ❤
