- We are pleased to share that the one and only classical guitarist, Irina Kulikova, has visited the studio of Siccas Guitars in Karlsruhe to record an unforgettable concert session with a bit of surprise!
As an extra special treat, the talented 13 year old student of Irina Kulikova, Paloma Chaprnka, who is studying at Irina's Classical Guitar Academy performs two heart-touching pieces at the end of the concert video. This recording session is a must-watch for classical guitar enthusiasts!
Irina Kulikova is a true jewel of the classical guitar world and has won many prestigious guitar competitions, captivating audiences worldwide with her unique skill and artistry. In this recording session, she performs works by some of the greatest composers in the classical guitar repertoire, including Luigi Legnani, Francisco Tarrega, Johann Sebastian Bach, Jan Depreter, Konstantin Vasiliev, and Franz Schubert. I did a Master Class with Irina once in Houston (I played an easy Sor piece). She told me that except for my right hand technique, left hand technique, and the way I held the guitar I would be just "okay" if I practiced a lot. Her suggestion to use lap pads on each leg made my playing easier if not any better.
Flawless! Really enjoyed the student. A very light touch and plays with a nuance that belies her youth. ❤😎

probably the strongest hands on a classical guitar i have listened to; my guitar teacher of 25 years Leon Atkinson had many many classical guitarists come to Spokane to perform and loved them all, but Irina just "nails" these voicing and it's very heart warming to listen to her play; Leon would have loved having Irina on his NPR Guitar Hour................

I can’t understand your crusade against contemporary music. Should we play Tarrega until the end of the world? Or someone could… try something else? Beauty can have different forms, not just those in line with your canons. Contemporary music composers should write the “same” music again and again and again? I think there’s space for many different genres.

Tonight I played the cello suite #1 and Moreliana. My fingers turn into turtle toes for you can guess which section of Morleiana. Nice concert.
What surprises me most that every piece she played on a different guitar. That was unbelievable. For me, if the neck is shaped differently or the strings action is different - I can’t play the same.
I understand that each guitar has its own personality and voice, I wonder if it was your choice of a certain guitar for a certain piece you played.
