0:03 WHAAAAT!? The fact you got sponsored by a game from a franchise you love is FUCKING INSANE! Soon It’s like a teaser for you Sonic X Shadow Generations Review which I will patiently and eagerly be waiting for. Reach for the Stars, Nick! Sega must be proud of you!
That second SEGA employee exclusive Sonic themed Dreamcast made me do a double take, because the Sonic head emblem through the lid looked like the Twitter logo and my brain could NOT handle that
Really loved seeing my country being represented in the video. My master system 3 collection was my first console (I'm only 24, but consoles are reeeealy expensive here) and though it doesn't have any sonic theming outside of the box and some stickers that come with it, but it still was my introduction to the blue rat that ruined my life, so I still keep it.
You got sponsored for the new game?! That’s so cool! 🤩🤩 “Look at this stupid, beautiful thing!” Those are my favorite word combinations ! That screen is so cool! “I am totally normal.” No one is normal in the Sonic fandom, and that’s how we like it! 😊 Wait, Evan’s art got featured on a Play Station?! WOW!!!
Nice to see Sega sponsoring you. I haven’t played the remaster of sonic generations but I have played Shadow Generations and well… to say I was impressed is an understatement it’s fantastic
I shouldn't be surprised that Nick is also interested in collecting weird Sonic consoles like myself but ... I guess seeing them in a video and someone else knowing about them is always a wild trip
the Black & Gold Genesis controller looks unironically hype & i would love if SEGA released that color scheme on an official Hori pad also I'm glad to know there is still a pair of Furry Sesbox controllers
Dang, so many Sonic game console variants, so little time... ...to buy every single one, that is. Not that I'm implying that I am made of money or anything. Great video, Nick!
Firstly, congratulations on the sponsor! Shadow Generations is awesome, I’m currently going for 100% completion. I thought it was weird that this video had old Nick and not the Scourge Man, but the video being made a while ago explains that. And the helium arc is never truly over.
It's absolutely insane being an early subscriber and seeing how much your channel has grown. The fact that you are sponsoring a mainline Shadow game is awesome!!! I subscribed back when you had about 27,000 subscribers. Can't wait to see your channel continue to grow. Well done. 👍🤘
Sad thing is I actually own the @Games Sega Genesis plug and play. Saw it while I was out and saw that it could play actual Genesis cartridge's which a lot of plug and plays don't do, which I thought was really neat. I hadn't heard of the infamy of @Games at the time because I tried to avoid drama in the gaming space. It wasn't until I plugged it in and heard the wonky sound did I realize I had made a mistake.
The older Master System versions manufactured by Tec Toy used to be pretty good. They started declining in quality around 2008, when they started using single-chip variants of the hardware, and didn't give you cartridge slots anymore. They got visually cooler, yes, but they kinda stopped caring about quality. But, these were made primarily for very cheap/poor consumers that didn't know any better (i.e. my parents in 2008, though luckily I got a model that didn't sucked), so it's understandable. If you convert their prices to USD, they were basically sold for pennies, and included like 100 decent to pretty good games on them, so we can't complain much. Also, Tec Toy re-released the Genesis a few years ago, and it was actual hardware not emulation, but, since not all parts of the original hardware are available these days, the quality is subpar. Especially in the sound department. It was still cool to see the console in a box very close to the original, with the original shell design, being displayed in stores out there, though. But that thing didn't had a market. It wasn't cheap enough for the Master System re-releases market, nor it had enough quality to cater to the retro market. Also you can basically buy an original used Genesis here for a couple hundred brazilian bucks, they're pretty common.
I've been seeing that here and there in the comments. I'd love to get down there some time and do a proper deep dive into Tec Toy and their business model.
I’m not a consul collector, but back when I got sonic forces in 2017 it came with some stickers to put on the controller. As time went on some of the stickers broke sadly, but the one that would go over the home button proudly showing off the logo for the game is still intact and I proudly keep it on my controller. The game is pretty mediocre but it was my first real sonic game so it has a special place in my heart
once I saw the AtGames genesis, it brought back a flood of memories of me playing sonic 2 and 3&k with my dad (god rest his soul 🙏) when i was 3 or 4 years old. made me emotional ngl, thanks for the nostalgia trip nick 🥲
& honestly, other than the stock art, Sonic Forces makes for some amazing themeing with the Graffiti aesthetic & the Eggman Empire logo looking so imposing
✨The most recent "sonic exclusive🦔🌟" themed console I've seen, is the "🧡❤💙Sonic 2 Movie". I agree that it was insane 💀. I wish the fur addition was planted on the back of the product🎮. Congrats with the Big Bro sponsor from SEGA! Take care & God bless🙏💚💙.
28:14 The sad part is, the only thing that made this game bad was the Kinect controls. When you slap on a controller mod, you actually learn it’s a pretty decent game when not limited to your whole body.
That tealish green translucent Dreamcast controller that comes with the funky TV Dreamcast is so fucking peak I want it so bad I don't even need the funky console dawg I just want that controller.
Sega’s marketing strategy is gold, paying diehard fans to gush about their games instead paying some rando to do it and them not being passionate, that ad made me want to buy the game
I'd love to see you do a follow up to this list with controllers, I've been curious about them since I found out about the sonic movie ones. At some point I really want to get custom xbox series controllers to remake the movie controllers in order to play every sonic game with them. so I'd love to find out about more, similar curios in a convenient list like this one
19:44 honestly that probably made it easier for kids to play through the game since they can just continue where they left off a little bit more easily
Sometimes I happen to be wearing a T-shirt of a certain franchise while I watch a video about it. This is one of those times. I’m wearing my classic Sonic shirt rn.
Wasn't there a Shadow The Hedgehog 05 PlayStation 2? 🤔 Or I'm misremembering things and it was just a controller Congrats on the official sponsorship!! 🎉🎉🎉
I have a variation of the sonic shaped console. I got it used in a discount bin. It has a firecore sticker on it and a cartridge slot, and also what looks like a built in receiver for wireless controllers. It has two genesis controller slots and matching blue wired controllers. I’ve searched for info about it previously, but was not able to find much.
The atgames has changed a lot over the years. I think some variants have a rubber grip on the And some came with different games I believe the early ones from 2012 only had 20 and later ones had 80 but 40 of them were random aftermarket games bye like tectoy The last model also added stereo audio instead of just mono audio before sega cut them off There were also some bigger HDMI versions that looks like a model 1 genesis
21:19 Funny enough, my father got a fight pad because the original controller stopped working, so playing Sonic with a joystick is all I knew growing up. Now, I *hate* playing platformers with them, because you get so much more control with a d-pad not accidentally going up or down while moving side to side. 😂
While not an official sonic themed console, the first DS my parents ever got me was a blue store-display DS that sported the officially licensed Gamer Graffix Sonic Rush decal. Apparently they got it on a discount due to them rotating it out the day they visited and not having any other DS's present at the time. I wish I had any photos of it, because I kinda used it to it's last legs and didn't take photos of anything until i got my DSi to replace it. It was extremely reliable an lasted for years, was probably the most excited i had been with any console I owned because of it's sonic themeing. For the longest time due to it's previous use as a display console, i actually thought it WAS a rare official one. Not very often you get to own the exact console used to advertise like that.
I actually think the Gameboy looks pretty sick, although I understand and kind of agree with the signature complaint, I feel like it would have been better if that was like in a corner, but I do like the way the silver and the blue contrast I think it makes it look better especially that little bit of trim around the blue of the cover
BRAZIL MENTIONED!!!! 🗣🗣🗣 (fun fact: they still make those tec toy ones to this day, at least the blue one, as I remember that I've seen that one in a store)
The beginning section of this video wasn't even part of the advertisement, it was just our regularly scheduled Game Apologist content
forgot it was an actual ad until the end of the ad lol
Getting sponsored to do your job normally is fucking crazy. Congrats man
Congratulations, Nick. You finally have made it to the big leagues with the Sega endorsement
The sega logo scream is fully endorsed and we're here for it.
No he didn't. Hes not a sonic youtuber really
@@reggielacey2235 nah I am, which is fine I love Sonic. but I’ll find other avenues to make other types of videos!
Lol it was an honor to talk to you about the Xbox, man! :]
Least lifeless sponsor.
Well, of course. The Ultimate Life Form is sponsoring.
It definitely would’ve been ashamed if he wasn’t enthusiastic. But then again, I’ve seen some very bad ad reads
Nice job Nick on getting the Sega sponsorship.
Fr
probably because it's not the one millionth world of tanks, opera gx or raid shadow legends sponsr
If only Maria was here to see this...
Not that hard to get a sponsor
That second SEGA employee exclusive Sonic themed Dreamcast made me do a double take, because the Sonic head emblem through the lid looked like the Twitter logo and my brain could NOT handle that
You could almost say your brain could not Justin-fy those two things. Now, I shall take ten lashes for that pun. 😆
0:08 Clap it UP for my man. I don't think sponsors get better than one of the best Sonic games ever. Hard work pays off. 🔵💨⚫️💨
Really loved seeing my country being represented in the video. how was it
You got sponsored for the new game?! That’s so cool! 🤩🤩

That feeling when the Sponsor is actually something everyone wants
1:25 caught me of guard 😂
Nice to see Sega sponsoring you. I haven’t played the remaster of sonic generations but I have played Shadow Generations and well… to say I was impressed is an understatement it’s fantastic
You know you're a good Sonic UA-camr when Sega themselves sponsor you 👍
Sounds like an incredibly expensive collection, but with a SEGA sponsorship it makes a bit more sense
@@CopingContinuous took me YEARS to grab all this stuff. None of it was too expensive at the time I grabbed it!
@ wow impressive
Dude, you said "Genesis" so much, I was anticipating you throwing us off by saying "je ne sais quoi" once at some point :P
Yeah which is weird since there isn’t even a Genesis in the list of consoles!
4:16 No Shadow Basketball!!
I know, tragic
Dude! Congrats on the Sonic(and Shadow) Sponsor. I bet this is big for you!
In a time before virtual console, collections, and switch online; I did give ATGames a shot just for the Sega titles I missed out on.
My guy made it big.Congrats man
3:00 *concern*
I shouldn't be surprised that Nick is also interested in collecting weird Sonic consoles like myself but ... I guess seeing them in a video and someone else knowing about them is always a wild trip
3:55 are there going to acknowledge who has that strangely proportion Sally Acorn
I refuse to believe that's an official product, It'd be wild if it was
She actually had those proportions at one point pre-reboot…
@@ManiacX1999The only official Sally merch were plushies…
@@ManiacX1999There are a few other products, but they get weird…
I've paused the video 7 seconds in. Congratulations on the sponsor. On this sponsor. Long overdue!
That design at 7:25 looks familiar? That’s the silhouette used in Sonic Pocket Adventure!!!
I should add that it is an animated image for the Title Cards at the beginning of each zone.
the Black & Gold Genesis controller looks unironically hype & i would love if SEGA released that color scheme on an official Hori pad

If he got sponsored to gas Sonic x Shadow Gens, imagine if Sega saw the Hyper Sonic video.

YES! Weird Sonic controllers, please!
Kinda of odd you called the Saturn a failure but not the Dreamcast.
You with the green consoles is like me with orange, especially translucent orange.
The scream in mic at the bottom of the sponsor was gold
My jaw dropped when you mention SXS Generation as a sponser lol but nice though.

Love the turtle light. I got one just like it
This was a nice dive. I knew of the At(ass)games ones but didn't know much beyond that so I learned a lot from this!

That SEGA yell brought back memories 🩵✨
Oh man the hand drawn PS5 art. That would be the sole reason i would want a PS5 💀
The most on brand sponsor possible
I remember seeing the Sonic dreamcast being on sale in a swedish website and the price was litteraly out of this world.

The sad part is, the only thing that made this game bad was the Kinect controls. When you slap on a controller mod, you actually learn it’s a pretty decent game when not limited to your whole body.

That sonic movie xbox one looks alright, but the controller for it is such a dope design even if it doesn't have the hedgehog explicitly on it.
