The two of them got together just four hours before the show and came up with this rawbeat style duet. We apologize for the shaky camera.. try holding a camera with out a tripod for 30 minutes while keeping focus on two cats gettin down on some groovy licks. Enjoy!

YO i have no doubts, that this is actually the greatest drum duet to date! and this was uploaded on my bday hype!
This instantly became one of my favorite videos right after it was done.
It is kinda funny but also a bit insulting towards matt that right above him Zildjian declares his setup as unserious.
Yeah I really hate that slogan. So pretentious and it just makes me not want to like Zildjian 🤷♂️

it's very clear why so many of the people hear prefer gergo.. matt doesn't try to play faster.. he generally tries to explore new and more uncomfortable rhythms within that same rhythm. take that very slow 3/4 at the beginning for example, while gergo plays simple stuff faster. its like how youd like cola over beer before youve drank beer enough times

lets get real here, borlai stuff to most people would sound more impressive but the more difficult stuff is being played by matt. also it doesnt really matter they are both amazing drummers with thier own flavors. also matt can play with crazy speed he just prefers to blow your mind with crazy time signatures, and displacement notes.

The visual is not too big a deal it's actually a good "real view" but GENTELMEN and LADIES of DRUM...please invest in some better AUDIO sources.
This drum battle would have been so much better with dedicated microphones.
No knock on what you did but a suggestion that your staff likely also agree with.
the drum parts are great but for DRUM MAGAZINE this audio is a major let down.
+stillphil we're using ZOOM H4N field recorders. They placed us behind the audience and wouldn't allow recording devices on stage. This footage is by no means a professional video production. Just two righteous dudes laying down fire. Works for us.

Borlai has three times the vocabulary and five times the ideas.
Matt is definitely great, and will continue to improve, but man, i gota agree with you, Gergo is superb.
That is actually nowhere near the truth. Borlai has tricky ways to impress snobs and he has a flow that is much easier to comprehend. I still think Matt's drumming is much more unique and musical

Well Matt is very good and Gergo is excellent. Gergo comes from Jazz like all the heavy greats have. The new guys bore me and they all sound the same. Which is the point that more complex is not better or musical. Look at Virgil. He's great but the shit he plays is not musical 80% of time. It sounds unnatural and you just cant listen to it. The best drumming Virgil has ever done is when he just started to play with Holdsworth. Allen forced him to play all the shit that Vinnie and all those cats played. But as time went on Virgil started to overplay and added all of that bullshit odd groupings....it go bad. One guy that makes complex patterns musical and beautiful, is Vinnie. Vinnie still the best and will always be. All these gospel chops guys, and I mean of them play the same patterns and try to make music out of them. And the worst part is its all EGO. They love their own shit but rarely play for the song. And its comical some even think they are better than Vinnie Instagram. People need to stop telling these boneheads that they are great. I wont name any names, cause all of you know who I'm gonna name. Drumming sure has gone to shit with all of these new drummers. Too many notes, too much math and Ego and little feel. Give me Dave, Vinnie, Dennis, Peter, Billy, Gadd....etc.....All day.
