Top Baits For Post Spawn Bass Fishing (May and June)

- What lures should you fish with right now? How do you catch bass after they spawn? We've got you covered! Last week we taught you how bass transition after the spawn as they shift toward their Summer haunts. Today we're taking an in-depth look out our confidence baits for this same time period. Whether you fish shallow or deep, these are the baits we trust.
This time of year can be amazing because bass tend to congregate. When you locate them it can be fish after fish for hours! Understanding where the fish position is one piece of the puzzle, knowing which baits to fish confidently is the remaining piece. Today Tim is covering his favorite baits for post spawn bass fishing in a variety of different situations. From muddy water to clear, deep to shallow, these are the baits he uses throughout the coming months.
Below you'll find links to the exact baits Tim discussed in the video. We've also included some of our favorite budget friendly combos for these techniques. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehousehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

Your guy's upload schedule is perfect. Comes out right when I'm sitting down on my porch to have my morning coffee. Great video guys.
Life is good 😊
I enjoy that Tim and Matt have different fishing styles. It's like 2 channels in 1.
We agree most of the time 😉
When you or Matt say "keeping it simple" I get ready for my head to explode. Keep it going.
Lol!
I recently left a comment thanking you guys for helping me in catching my first dropshot fish. Well, I am back to thank you again after I also caught my first Senko fish, and have continued to smash loads more on the dropshot! As someone who has never bass fished until this season, your videos have helped me a ton. Cheers!
Man you probably are hooked on bass fishing now eh?
You got that right! Such a great sport and community surrounding it 👍
The video is perfect timing as I’m heading to a Texas lake Memorial Day weekend
Good morning TB family!!!🎣
Yew!
Good morning!
I'm just starting to work the Shakey heads in my arsenal, and when to use them it's been a total blast to fish this way. I'm not killing it yet but I'm learning some things from you guys. Hopefully, I'll have the opportunity to work on this skill set soon. I will watch what you and Matt have available on this subject and go from there. I hope people are getting some cast in and enjoying the spring. Thank you . For the opportunity to learn from the best.
Great Great edit for sure. Matt giving away some of his tricks... Thank You for sharing.
It's nice that y'all are down south from me. Fish are just starting to spawn up here so all your videos on how to go after spawning fish were nice to watch before spawn. Now post spawn videos to get me ready for post spawn.
Mornin Tim. There's the man back with us! I see that SLX in your hand. Man thats what I like about you guys, you genuinely want to fi d good gear at all prices. I don't have near the funds and access to gear as you and yet I don't put down the Megabass Destroyers and Aldebarens etc. You guys have the best of the best and still fish with SLX to be able to give a genuine opinion on it, that's where you get my respect big time! Have a great day, dude!
Back to the Carolinas (Lake Norman) after mom's passing, nice to see the family but I already miss Bull Shoals! 😂
Good eye!! Thank you for the kind words and safe travels home.
Love the vids thank you for all the info y’all and some other channels have brought me a long way
Great work guys!
You guys never disappoint. Incredible
Great video can't wait for that wobble head bite
Very nice videos 👍 success always for friend 👍
Great stuff! (As usual!)
I took everything off my boat other then topwater and big swimbaits! I’m putting in the work to learn big baits this year
You'll get it down then! Tight lines brother!
@@Tbowie13 I’ve caught a few on glides but it’s to easy to pick up a confidence bait so I took that option away lol
@@Texaslivinoutdoors I completely understand! Hope ya catch a new PB on a glide.
@@Tbowie13 thanks man! Trying to break the lake record lol it’s 11.69 I know there’s bigger fish then that in there
@@Texaslivinoutdoors big fish- big baits....try a big rat wakebait in early morning or late evenings....once u catch 1 like that, it's over...u will be a big bait addict like the rest of us
Another great video Tim, thanks.
Thank you!
So stoked I was using a technique that you mentioned. I'm not a huge jerkbait angler. So I use suspending or slow float cranks when some use jerkbaits. It's almost guaranteed to catch something, even if it's bluegill or crappie 😂😂😂
I always love watching these videos, and they are so informative! Lately I’ve been having issues with getting skunked, because my lake is very shallow and the water is incredibly dirty, is there any advice you all would have?
❤👏👏 thank you Tim,great job 👍
Swing head Tim. Great tutorial bud.
Thanks Tim and matt❤
I instantly noticed the new thumbnail design.
Thanks Tim
I need this! Thanks
Thanks for the video I don't have any luck with top water lures
Try the Berkley Choppo, in the 90 or 110 size early mornings/late evenigs....it WILL get bit
@@andybales7318 I almost got it today at bass pro but I didn't have enough cash
@@50JoshLovesFishing could also try the bass pro version double plopper...I have some, just haven't tried them...little more budget friendly if i recall...likely will work, too
@@andybales7318 thanks for the advice I appreciate it
Choppos are garbage. I bought 4 of them and they all started taking on water after the first 3-4 casts.
mantap dan sukses...lanjut terima kasih sharing nya..
I know the Berkley choppos are cheaper made but I’ve had a lot more luck this year on them than the whopper ploppers they make a little bit deeper sound and right now is clearly outperforming the whopper plopper for me
Thanks TB
I lost a giant fish yesterday he was on the edge of some reeds in the dead part of the reeds. I lost him twice once on a white frog once in a blue jig with a craw. He's a beast any ideas on what to try to catch him again or do you think he won't bite again because I hooked him twice but he is hard to pull out of that stuff
Throw a soft plastic. Wacky work my personal fav. Dropshot if heavy pressure
@@TerpDerp heck yeah I'll try it I really want to catch her driving back later to try lol
@@arthurgarcia4871 - good luck...and yeppers, most likely a female fish.
Thanks!

@@midwestfischermanhaha. Howzit Midwest?🤙
Great video. New bass fisher here with a rookie question. When should you throw a regular frog vs a popper type frog? I'm just trying to have a better understanding on when I should use each of them.
I tend to see that the “popper style frog” works in colder water, bc you can make it work slow. But both will work almost any time of the year. Also I like throwing a popping frog in clearer lakes. But I like the regular style frog better. All opinionated
My .02...I use the popping style when the water is a little more stained...helps the bass zero in on the frog
@Ross Cornell Thanks for your input. I appreciate it.
@@andybales7318 Thanks for your input. I appreciate it.
Dt6 still works even if the water is clear you just have to match the color of what the bass feeding on
Tried all these yesterday in clear water, and by clear, I mean I can see beds in 11 feet of water. Didn’t start catching fish until I started throwing a black skirted spinner bait on 30lb braid. Some days are just weird
Intersting...
Do you ever throw the Big-M 7.5 or 4 for those large shad eaters, or is that one you stay away from? I just grabbed 8 or 9 Big-M's to try out but don't have much time with em yet. It seems like a mix between a deep crank and a glidebait sized body. I thought it might be different enough to draw bites from fish that had never seen anything like it.
Awesome
Too bad Clearlake is sucking right now. Can’t wait for the frog bite. Throwing a spinnerbait up against the retaining walls is one my favorite things to do
Have y’all ever thrown the manns crank that runs 30ft
I’m ready for a heavy squarebill bite 🤘🏽
Would the St Croix Victory SB Ranger y’all mentioned for mag draft video throw a 6” mag draft and also double as a deep crank rod for like 10xd?
I throw the 10xD on my swimbait rod..it works fine for me...I use mono on all my big baits
Would you fish the pop max in the Matt finish if the lake is going through an algae bloom
My .02, I'd use a darker colored topwater
Can I ask why when throwing frogs, the color patterns are shad and bluegill? Would there be a frog pattern that would work?
Imitation of spawning or feeding shad on the surface
Add Georgia to your DD 75 deep crank “killin it list”
Had one in December hit it so hard I couldn’t find it in the back of her mouth 🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟😎
Chatterbaits and buzzbaits are also good post spawn baits
Show us. Walk us through picking a spot and throwing those baits. More fishing guys! You'll sell more baits on tackle warehouse links.
Are you a child???? Want them to read your bedtime story?
I don’t think I’ve ever seen you talk about the bubble walker as much as y’all like R2S, do you not like that popper?
You don’t get it do you????
@@stupiditypissesmeoff330 I don’t get your vague question, no.
Our fish in iowa are like just comin shallow
How do you feel about big spoons?
Love spooning, big spooning is ok if it’s only spooning you’re going to get, but I like the nice tight small ones as far as spooning goes. You can get super deep spooning the little ones
Not the post😞 But still a great bite!!!!!
Tim : flashy swimmer vs spinnerbait... when to use which?
You didn’t mention the chatterwagon!
What about dropshot?
When it comes to frogs.. all i have to say is " toad runner jr..."
If you know, ya know.. lmao
You might be the only one who knows. Always knew you knew. Good on you for knowing
.Subscribe from distant countries. There are largemouth bass in South Korea, and I plan to purchase a Shimano World Pop as a lure to use in clear water.
Nobody is talking about the lure that has been catching me TONS of fish the last few weeks. I’m not even mad either. 😂
My big fish this spring have been on 7-9" soft jerkbaits....GUARANTEE I'm the only 1 throwing that
Because you’re really really smart and special and you’re just on it! You’ve got something figured out no one on the planet has EVER thought about before! You’re special. If I ever see you I’ll pat you on the back
@@stupiditypissesmeoff330 thanks man!
Pissed
Not sure why, but every River2sea Bully WA I've bought takes on water & sinks before I get it back to the yak....only frog I have, out of hundreds that sinks that bad
Interesting... Their customer service is great. Give them a call and Im sure they will take care of you. Sounds like a bad frog.
You guys need to come catch some of our Coosa River spotted bass just saying they are so strong......
What are they biting on. Lol!
Help! Give me your top 2 Florida baits and colors for bass. Talking to the community and the creators of this channel. Any info helps
Just my .02....if I only had 2 baits for Florida....10" plastic worm in a natural type color & a double willow spinnerbait in golden shiner....a 3rd bait...Hollow body Frog in a bluegill/perch color
@ Andy. Thank you man. I’m going on vacation next week and am going to completely unknown territory. I appreciate your info.
Can't go to Florida without June bug colored soft plastics for that tannic water color .Good luck tight lines
Lol post pawn 😂 we haven't even hit into the good spawn in Western New York
I want to know do you use any football Jake's gender summertime
Any advice for post spawn bank fishing?
Yes, go stand on the bank and make casts and fish
Do you guys still fish the Carolina rig .bassmd
