It's a pity Banjo Paterson is not around to see this brilliant musical tribute to his work.

An unappreciated Aussie gem, performed by an even more unappreciated Aussie act; I hear you, no one else might, but I do, and validate and appreciate your unheard agony.

Never been. But I met several. The wildfires when they were bad, I met Dani Bee. She asked for my small paintings to inspire them during that hard time. Months later I found a Seekers song: I am Australian. And I cried because in some tiny way I helped with the thing I do best . I am glad that your island home has given so much to the world.

This song is one of the best songs to describe the beaty of what Australia is all about, the hard work and dedication of the people that came to this beautiful country and made it what it is today, we the immigrants that fought of the Japanese imperialists to withhold them from taking this country (oh you dont hear that every day) and the thanks we get?..none!!, so people of Australia read up on historical events not just whst idiots want you to believe

I have witnessed the cultural experience of sharing a beer in a country pub, thousands of kilometers from nowhere, where a local gent in a big cowboy hat recited the Man from Snowy River to the entertainment of all of us. I decided right there and then, to learn Clancy of the Overflow by heart, and Mulga Bills Bicycle, so that if ever I was of the opportunity as a foreign Canuck, I would be able to rattle off some of Banjo Patterson as I love his poems so much. After two years in the Philippines adopting a child, I long to return home there, and can only tell the Australians how much I love the place, how beautiful it still is, and how fortunate we are to be able to liver there.

This poem is more pertinent today than ever. Most people are stuck behind computers in shoebox offices with unpleasant company and unpleasant news, and unhappy lives. Slaving and slaving and unable to escape their dreary lives.
We have a big and beautiful continent that so many do not know.

So keen to get overseas, over & over ...I had a headmaster, not the principal, at my high school whose lament, bugbear was people not seeing our great country first, then travelling if they must. He took the odd geography class & could be an ogre, but he had a valid point.

I actually bought this on cassette (remember those), and was so moved I bought the LP album for my Uncle. He absolutely loved it! His favourite track, "The Man From Ironbark". I didn't need to ask my mother which was hers I already knew..."The Man From Snowy River". I love this album for a lot of reason's....& I'm thankfull Andrew Barton "Banjo" Patterson wrote these magnificent poems...

The Great John Wallis, Loved this album since my old man bought it in the 1980's and I'm only 34 and still know who this band was, and a great band at that, the only ones who thought good ol Banjo deserved to be immortalized in music, with there incredible modern country folk sound. shame back in 1980 this wasn't a huge and I mean Huge hit, It deserved to be. but will be one in my heart.

These guys are grossly under recognised - those albums were fantastic adaptations of great poetry - their arrangements enlivened the words beautifully. Wonderful. I just finished reading "Kings in Grass Castles" - the "Pioneers" track a great tribute to a remarkable generation of people, the likes of whom we'll never see again as indeed the poem says.
