He was beating Lewis to the punch but, his face couldn't take the damage that Lennox was inflicting. Growing up in the 90s I was blessed to see several of the best boxers of all time. I remember seeing Tyson fight Douglas live from Japan. I was twelve and was a huge fan of boxing. To see someone who looked invincible (Tyson) get beat by almost no name Douglas was like Superman getting turned to a normal man from kryptonite. Love boxing and its history.

@@keithsimpson2446 Bruh, that is ludicrous. Fury, in a pound-for-pound sense, is a mediocre boxer who gets by mostly on his height and movement. Vitali has the ring IQ , the chin and the power to do far more work than most of the lame tree stumps that Fury has fought. But the main thing Vit has is the ability to effectively read when a fighter is about to throw and because of his chin he is notably more diverse in his offense than Wladimir, something that Fury has never really faced with the likes of Wilder.
If he was winning against Lewis, Fury wouldn't have had a prayer.

The Ukrainians, however, are currently at war with Russia, at no fault of their own. The odds are against them in this fight with Russia. Lennox Lewis was a great fighter, but he's full of it saying he was on his way to knocking out Vitali Klitschko in their fight. Lewis was losing that fight at the time of the cut stoppage and was going to lose if not for that. Despite a massive payday awaiting him in a rematch, he smartly declined because he had seen enough and wanted no part of Klitschko

Vitali Klitschko vs. Danny Williams was a huge miss-match. Williams was a fine European HW contender, but he was never a world championship man. His career peaked at 2006 and then from 2009 and onwards he just plain out fell from the top with a heavy smash to the ground.
9 straight losses and his career ended up with 55-33-0-1 NC. Got repeatedly knocked out even early by the most basic level journymen there was.
    Sad career turn....

Lennox has the funniest personality. Such a bullshitter and braggart. No self-deprecation. Excuses when he loses. Nothing complimentary to say about his opponents ever. Talks about himself in the 3rd person. Massive, massive ego, and that is why he was hated by the fans. He was guaranteed $20 million to fight Klitschko again but he didn't because he knew he'd lose. He wanted his record protected with its 2 avenged losses and 1 bullshit draw and was terrified of going out on a loss. He got out at the right time, but he was absolutely ducking the younger, hungrier, just as big Klitschko. Let's put it this way: if, in 2003, Lennox was offered $20 million to fight Tyson again or Ruiz he absolutely would not have left that money on the table.
