I am a former 18E. I went to basic in 04 and entered under the 18X contact. I went to airborne school immediately following basic the. It was off to Bragg for SOPC phase 1-A. I was a first time go on everything. I got Persian/Farsi as my language and went to 5th group. I deployed three times to Iraq and ETSed in the end of 09. I came in the army at 120lbs but packed on weight. The most important piece of advice I can give is have a good mindset and have the willingness to push your body beyond what you think it can do.

You brought up a good point about motivations for wanting to become a Green Beret. Doing it for the clout, prestige and recognition isn’t going to be good enough when shit hits the fan and you get tested, you actually have to want to do the things that SF does so you can best serve your country. Do what you want to do, not be who you wanna be. I wanna be a Blackhawk Pilot so I’m pursuing Aviation, I’ve clarified what I want to do but I still love your content and watch for motivation and direction. Keep it up!

I'd say phase 1 is important as phase 3 from a psychological standpoint. If you're not building a strong, confident baseline and you're too busy beating yourself up with self doubt in phase 1, selection will kick your ass that much more and you'll potentially find yourself in a place you don't want to be. Of course planning out your decision only gets you so far.

Now with the job description and videos you’ve provided I’ve set on becoming a 18D (I hope I’m not mistaken) and am starting to get my paper work back in order and get back into tip top shape. Hey Buck. Ship out April 25th for 35M and going to DLI first. I’m in relatively great shape all around based off of your videos and my own research. I am 30 years old and had concerns going 18x vs the route I chose now. My TSC has already cleared, I’ve got Language School first then AIT for 35M. I went this route based on if I got hurt or for whatever reason didn’t make selection I would be kicked back to Intelligence. My question is will I have good “sof” opportunities on the Intell side if I’m high speed physically enough? I have the same mind set of you as far as I tend to want more and more and set goal after goal. Theoretically I was wanting to be sent to an sof unit under 35m and put in my packet for selection asap. I know this is a lot of jumble put together but I honestly like your insight and videos the best lol figured I’d ask. Keep killing it man

I’m late to the game, can you do a video on SOPC? How much does it prepare you for selection? I know the AF does an in depth preparation course for its SW candidates. Is SOPC similar?

Recently just got dropped on graduation week from RASP. A very stupid reason. I’m now headed to the 101st and have been looking into dropping an SF packet. Anything you recommend? Maybe experiencing the real army, trying to get the tab first, or timeline after I drop a packet? I just know I don’t belong in conventional army

I got an op. 40 contract. I'll be shipping on the 13th of june. Thank you for everything. After I finish my time with the Rangers, green beret sounds like a good area for me after watching hours of videos and podcasts of you with the good, the bad, and the oh shit I almost died. My main worry is the physical aspect to be honest, but I'm confident I'll be ready by then. Thank you man for pretty much everything

I am 47. So, US Army SF is obviously no longer my focus.
I do love the channel and I think everything covered is stuff I wish I had been told.
I got lucky in that my training was stuff you talk about
While it didn't happen, what attracted me to Special Forces, was ,yes, the challenge.
But the biggest point and attraction was it required thinking.
    Creative thinking.
Learning to ruck, land nav, etc... those are skills.
Physical fitness is a skill. It's learn able.
Creative thinking is the hard one to teach.
To get crude: I liked special forces because you fuckers think instead of checking boxes.

Buck what can I do if I’m in a unit that doesn’t just support my commitment to pursing my goal in earning the beret ? They tell me that I have to work around the unit I’m trying to get time to train physical for SFAS but my unit is so high Tempo . I don’t wanna be making excuses but I literally cannot commit to my training plan fully cause I’ll come back for a month then go back out for a month or go out for two weeks then come back for a week .

Any idea what the length of the Q course is now? Sounds like it’s been cut down a good bit (6months of SFQS followed by ~6 months of language). I could be way off, but was curious if you had knew since it had been cut down in length recently. Thanks!
