Oh no Mick you broke it 😂I know how to take things apart it's putting it back together I have problems with lol. It seems like everything is going to plastic, but on a serious note this was very educational and this will help a lot of people for sure. Great video brother 👊
@@themowerman Your very welcome Mick. I agree definitely worth fixing. Everything is good thank you for asking. Hope everything is good on your end brother 👊
Thanks for the video Mick. I took delivery of a Brand New Allett Kensington 17H last week and it was damaged in transit on the throttle lever housing where cable goes in plus it’s out of line and the plastic part on the other end of the boom is cracked They are sending me replacement parts under warranty and they are happy for me to replace & fit the new parts myself. I’m assuming mine is the same or pretty much similar to the 20K you have there. I’m confident I can replace the parts ok after watching your video thank you. 👍
Hi Mick, this happened to mine and I believe that the arms situated under the fuel tank that the cable actually operates were fastened to tight leaving the throttle handle with too much tension resulting in the plastic housing breaking, I loosened ever so slightly and the throttle now operates far easier
Good show mate. I looked up that mower, only because we don't get anything of the sort and was shocked by the price. That was a good looking mower but I can understand why you are also willing to restore older ones.
@@themowerman I can see why you would like them better than little 2 strokers for sure. Weedeaters are between $50 and $75 used so it would take a whole pile to make what you could flipping just one of those.

Hi Mick. First of all - love your channel mate. Super interesting content and it’s cake in handy so many times so thank you. I have a question in relation to the Kensington that I’m hoping you can share some guidance on. Next year I’m looking to purchase either the Kensington or Cambridge, more than likely the Kensington. I’m curious however as to the different between the B&S XR550 and the Honda GX120. To upgrade to the GX120 is a good £300 and I’m wondering if I would notice the difference? Whats more is that I’ve seen new GX120 engines go for much less and whilst I’m no petrol head, I guess that could be a future upgrade I could do myself if it wasn’t total rocket science. Really hope you can get back to me. A future video changing engines would always be super cool - maybe something worth considering? All the best, Darren
Hi mate.. ok so.. let's talk engines.. I would go for a honda all day long... And maybe buying the Kensington with a Briggs and putting a honda on yourself would be a better and cheaper option.. I would say away from the Allett Cambridge.. it's a lower class mower.. I'm not saying it's bad.. it's just not as good as a Kensington..
I think this is a common problem with this throttle. I bought an Allett kensington 14k 3 years ago and I took it out of the box, put petrol and oil in, started the engine revved it a couple of times and the same part broke. I had to drain the oil and petrol and send it back. I don't know if Allett has addressed this problem.

Good work Mick. Would Allett warranty that part for a consumer?
I would say yes mate
Good one Mick...
Thanks mate
Hi Mick - well done on the video. I have the same problem with my mower but can't find the part listed on ebay - any chance of sending through a link?
What part do you need mate .. just the cable?
The cable is ok - it is exactly the same part that you had to replace - the throttle assembly that holds the cable.
