This video is part Jen and Yvonne dissecting the intricacies of the EU Blue Card changes and part Jen ranting about her less than stellar experience with residence permit and Auslanderbehörde 😅 Both are valid and important for folks to know!
Well, my experience with the Ausländerbehörde wasn't bad. It just took a lot longer for me with a regular work permit to be able to get permanent residency 😉
Yesterday I received the PIN-Brief to get my freshly new Blue card 🎉🥳 It's just a one year contract, but I'm going to fight for at least a +1 year contract and apply for the Niederlassungserlaubnis 💪 Hugs&Kisses, I'm a big fan ❤
I can attest to the IT law changes, I came to Germany with a work visa and got the 2 year visa. after the new laws I emailed the the city office to find out if I qualify for the Blue card. I was send a bunch of documents I had to fill in and sent them back. After about 3 weeks I got the Blue card green paper and an appointment to go and process for the card (bio metrics etc). So I need 1. 106€ 2. Latest Photos 3. Passport This is after living here for two years.
Hi sir pls am an engineer and my wife is a registered nurse and mid wife pls i want to come to Germany to work pls i need your direction how to apply for it and pls i need ur contact or email address to that i can contact you sir.
Thanks for sharing! I'm looking at applying for an EU Blue Card for IT specialists. I have a university degree however it is not related IT BUT I have 11+ yrs of experience so I would qualify for the 3yrs. requirements and I also have a job offer for an IT position. Can you share which were the documents/forms you had to fill out? The lawyers who are helping me with the application provided an assessment saying I don't qualify for an EU blue card because my degree is not related to the job. But I don't want to use that path and rather use the IT specialists path. Cheers!
This is how a video should be. Concise information of the complex new changes that is easy to understand. Kudos to both of you for doing this good work 🙌

3:26 Coming to Germany or even moving within the country can be extremely difficult and challenging without Relocation Package from Employer. Based on first hand experience!
Hi, Jen, Hi Yvonne, While I was listening to the description about university degrees, I realized that it might be helpful to mention that since November last year, a specific amount of professional experience is also considered valid for applying for a Blue Card, not just a university degree. In my opinion, it could be beneficial to highlight this point right from the beginning, as I initially believed that only a university degree was valid for applying, which is not necessarily true anymore. This is particularly important for people from countries like Russia, where a degree is not always directly related to working experience. In Russia, many IT professionals have valuable skills and expertise even though their university education might not be in IT, since not many universities offer IT-specific training. Despite this, Russian IT professionals are among the most skilled and innovative in the field.
What you are saying is correct, however ONLY for the specific Blue Card for skilled IT workers, as we mention later in the video. The main Blue Card is for academics only and every other industry/job role needs a matching academic degree for a Blue Card.
I recently applied for a job change after working for 13 months on Blue Card. The Ausländerbehörde didn't know about the rule changes (2years to 1 year) and I had to send them screenshots of the rule. But once clarified and after I submitted the documents, they printed my new Zusatzblatt the very next day.
Hi!! Did you apply from another EU country (the country that issued the EU Blue Card to you and was not German ) or was it a job change within Germany?
@@MSannejyo hello, I sent all the documents via email and didn't need any physical copies. I just visited the Ausländerbehörde to pick up the Zusatzblatt.
Very precise and nicely summarized video. However, I need little more detail on bringing your parents here. 1. How "high" the salary should be to bring your parents to Germany? Like is there a threshold? 2. What does having a "managerial" work position mean? Is it limited to a specific field of work?
Amazing video! I had so many doubts in 2022 when I applied for a visa and this video answered all of them. In the end my position did not meet the salary threshold (at the time), but I qualified for the scientist visa (Visum zum Forschungsaufenthalt).
Muchas gracias por poner este video! Es mucho más explicativo que muchísimos. Por favor sigan publicando al respecto :) Yo estoy finalizando mis estudios de masterado pero hay cosas que nadie te explica D:
Sounds great, but it’s incredibly challenging to secure a job without proficiency in the local language, ideally at least at a B2 level. Additionally, finding an apartment in larger cities and popular areas is notoriously difficult.
We agree that speaking German helps, however, we have lots of community members who have found a job in English. It is harder but not impossible. 😊 We also have lots of content on how to find an apartment in Germany and even wrote an ebook to help international tackle the challenge. Again - it is hard but not impossible with the correct information, mindset and approach.
More and more companies in Germany are dropping the German B2 language requirements(or replace it with potential of learning afterwards), especially if they are international companies.
Agree with you, impossible is nothing and all those changes in the regulations they are doing are in that manner to simplify the processes and make the country more attractive for international talents but still not that simple as it looks, something you can realize when you have to wait in the huge queue in front of ausländerbehörde.
In my case my company is has English for our official spoken language. It is harder to find non German Speaking I agree 💯. But not impossible as some have mentioned.

Hey guys, I'm a person who used info from this video to get his visa and I am very thankful for the info and this channel in general. I was wondering if you could start a subreddit for this channel. I'm asking cause in my case, there were many complications (which got resolved quickly, thank God) but it would have been nice to ask/get info from someone who had had similar experiences. A couple of subreddits definitely exist already but I think they could be improved, hence the need. Or like in general, it would be super nice to have a tribe of people around you as you battle your way through the intricacies of German bureaucracy.
Can't wait to finish my PhD in the US and move to Germany. I'm hoping the terminal degree will mean I can find a good job that will offer a relocation package for me and my little family.
You either find a new job right away or need to sign up as unemployed with the Agentur für Arbeit. To our knowledge you have a few months to find a new job until your permit expires. But you should speak to your Ausländerbehörde. We also have a guide on unemployment benefits: www.simplegermany.com/unemployment-benefits-germany/
I always enjoy your content. It helped me learn a lot about various topics before I moved to Germany. Keep up the good work. Now, about my question, what's the salary threshold for non-IT professionals? Is it still the same as what you mentioned, Euro 45,300? I work as a graphic designer. Last year, the salary threshold for non-IT professionals like me was around Euro 56,000. I would really appreciate it if you could provide me with this information. Thank you.
I'm also Brazilian and can confirm getting the ZAB comparability certificate approved after only a couple of weeks. The issue may actually be getting the certificate via mail, which depending on where you live, it may take a lot of time or never arrive. For me, it never arrived until I moved to Germany months later, but hopefully I received a digital copy from them via e-mail, which I could use in my Blue Card application. Not sure if they always send it digitally as well, but better ask for it to be sure.

Sounds good in book. People already living and working in Germany cannot renew their stay, because there are no People to process the. I have been told that they will take 2 years to process my permanent residency in some cities you have to tent out from mid night to get an appointment. If I were a new person, I would think twice about coming to Germany Nc
great vid! i know the focus of the channel is to help settle in DE, but have you considered doing a video on what to do when/if you leave Germany for good? (abmeldung, bank account, radio tax, etc.)
Thank you very much for the video, can you please discuss the new changes in the law regarding the international university students here in Germany ( likehow many houirs are we allowed to work yearly ? and are we still supposed to get a job only in our major after graduation or we can work in a different field and still be able to change our residence status to a work residence permit instead of a student residence permit... thanks a lot for your valuable videos again :)
In my case, all the criteria were met but the Ausländerbehörde refused to give me. They were pointing at some old income criteria. I didn't argue because I got that appointment after multiple desperate requests 😢
I have a small doubt. If I completed 12 months in the current job and I have a blue card. 1. What if I wanted to look for a job in some other country like the Netherlands? Can I have the same blue card or they will give me another kind of Resident permit like an EU blue card?. \ 2. What happens if I have PR in Germany and looking for a job in the Netherlands? will I be considered a foreigner or a person inside the EU?. Altogether, I wanted to know, which Resident Permit is benefit in case I wanted to switch my job to the Netherlands From Germany? EU blue card or PR. Because if I have PR of Germany, I am tied to the country, unlike Blue card which is valid across the EU? Please clarify me.

Thank you for such clear explanations. One question though - I am an expat in Germany and applied for Blue Card in August23 , so it is before March 24. Now I am living in Germany but my Blue Card still not issued. When I get it which is after March 24 - will I be able to bring my father--law in Germany (my wife is here and we can pay for him)?
Thank you the detailed overview! I was just thinking about “upgrading” my current skilled worker visa to the Blue Card but it seems like the portal is not ready for the situation when I’m already in Germany (there’s no Germany in the country dropdown list). Where should I apply in this case?

As per 3:27 basically, non-EU citizen(American/Canadian) can apply to germany, all they need is job offer letter ? So would any company ask such question - "Do you require visa permit?/sponsorship?" What would be the response as a job candidate be ?. Could you clarify abit more the next steps , once the job offer is provided with given salary as mentioned ? . Do we need a certifikate of german language level from goethe institue , as well ? And USA/Canada doesn't require resident permit within 90 days or after 90 days, but rather apply direct EU blue Card within 90 days based on job offer letter ? Does university degree has to be from Germany? Thanks for alot of info. .but if you can clarify abit more, really appreciable ?
Your video is pretty clear that we need only employment contract and recognised university degree. But there is one additional form along with application with a tag 'make it in Germany' that needs to be signed by employer. Do we still need it?
If a translated foreign education certificate needs to be submitted, where can I get it translated and which education certificate do I need to submit - bachelors or masters?
You can access certified translators via our partner link: www.simplegermany.com/lingoking/. You should use the degree that you will use to apply for your visa 😊
Hi Both, When we are applying for a VISA EU Blue card before arriving in Germany, can we also bring our family/spouse along with us? Or should we move in 1st and then apply for a family reunion visa?
Most people do the second way. But discuss with your embassy if you can already apply for family reunion visa while you are applying for the Blue Card.
Hello. Can you make a video for people that want to have a side hustle and what kind of things can make with a pickup truck? Thx and have a great day! 🎉
Hello, thanks a lot for this informative video. Could you please confirm if the 12 month validity rule of Blue Card while staying outside of Germany is also valid for Blue Cards which were issued in mid of 2023?
Thank you for your independent work, ladies! A question: my university is recognized with +A, however I couldn't find my degree tagged to the university. Would I be able to apply still? Considering only this factor.
Rules regarding bringing parents after March 2024, you specifically said management position? How is this defined? Or do you just go back to the point of high salary?
Very informative video, new visa requirement is this : Handelsregisterauszug des in Deutschland ansässigen Unternehmens. Any idea what this is and where to get it
The WelcomeCenter administration is a bad joke. I applied for BlueCard 1 year ago. I can’t see any status online. Via telephone and email there is no reply.
Can you give more details about the permanent residency from blue card? I have checked the details from the federal government and from the city but the requirements do not match. They say I need the integration course certificate, but it takes too long to do it.
Whether you need an integration course is individual. Some get asked to do one when they arrive in Germany, others don’t. You need to speak to your Ausländerbehörde to find out what is the case for you.
You could simply Google it yourself or look on the German government website: www.make-it-in-germany.com/en/visa-residence/types/eu-blue-card 18b no longer exists and is now 18g since the new law took effect. You can also find online threads about this topic 😉
As always, vielen Dank und muchas gracias! I'm worried about the information regarding waiting times and the need to leave and reapply. My understanding -based on other fireigners experience - was if your papers are in, you just have to wait in Germany and don't leave.... could you please double check that info? Also, if you move from let's say Frankfurt to another smaller town with a shorter wait time in Ausländerbehörde, does frankfurt continue to process your residency permit request, or is it automatically transferred to the new town, or does it cancel the process in Frankfurt and you start over in a new town? ...too many questions, i know ))))
You need to ask your Ausländerbehörde about that ... we can't give immigration advice sind we are not lawyers 😉 If you move within Germany, you have to inform both ABH about your move - nothing is automatic, as each ABH works independently. From our experience, they can transfer your case, once they are informed. Again, only they ABH can really tell you. From what we hear, Frankfurt is one of the quickest though!
I have a master degree from Germany (bachelor from foreign country). After masters from Germany, I moved to an another EU country for work. Now I have a job offer from a German company and I need to apply for a work visa. Can i apply with my German degree? Does it matter if my past degree from abroad is comparable or not, since I have one german degree? I can't find a detailed explanation on this matter. Can someone tell me about this? thanks and have a nice day :) PS: My german degree is relevant for the job. I am in science field (research and lab work)
Thanks for putting forth this video. I need help for my query. I am in Germany on ICT ( Inter corporate transfer Visa) from India. I want to switch to Blue card, Could you help me with the process of submitting the for Blue card If I have a degree, a German company offer letter along with being above all the requirements for filling for a blue card. I need to know the process to obtain the blue card without going back to India as post my resignation my employer will ask me to serve the notice period from India. Do I need to have any legal process from my new German employer.
To our knowledge you can apply for a Blue Card (if you fulfill the requirements) from within Germany with your local Ausländerbehörde. Our partners can help you personally to get the Blue Card if you wish individual support: www.simplegermany.com/getinexpat-residence-permit/ 😊
I am from India and I am working in hospitality industry, I had my blue card in 2023 and there is D written on it, can you tell me that I can only work with same company or I can change the my job within Germany.
Then you most likely don't qualify for the Blue Card but instead a regular work permit (like what Jen had). Exception is IT - a degree is not needed here as we outline in the video 😊
Thanks for the video. My bachelor is in Economics and I hold a MSc degree in Computer science. Plus I have software/data engineer experience for 8+ years. I’d like to find a job as a software/data engineer. Do you think I am eligible for Germany Blue Card? If so how? Thanks😊

I have been told that they will take 2 years to process my permanent residency in some cities you have to tent out from mid night to get an appointment. If I were a new person, I would think twice about coming to Germany

This is very informational. Can a EU Blue Card holder still travel to another schengen country without applying a visa?
Thanks for your video. You are always awesome.
This video help me answer lot of questions I had from long time. ❤
Thank you guys!! ❤
Great video🎉
great vid! i know the focus of the channel is to help settle in DE, but have you considered doing a video on what to do when/if you leave Germany for good? (abmeldung, bank account, radio tax, etc.)
We have a whole section on our website for that ☺️: www.simplegermany.com/moving-away-from-germany/
@@simplegermany no way!! this is just what I was looking for, thank you so much!
Good news, thank you 😊
I have 10 years IT Tech and server management experience..pending matter is route to get a job offer to actually apply for the blue card.
Love the channel ❤, always informative
Could you make a video about the procedure of changing job in less than a year with the blue card.
Find a new job and inform your Ausländerbehörde.
Received mine in December 2023 for 4 years😮
I have a small doubt. If I completed 12 months in the current job and I have a blue card.
1. What if I wanted to look for a job in some other country like the Netherlands? Can I have the same blue card or they will give me another kind of Resident permit like an EU blue card?. \
One of the clear informative video ever seen with 2 beautiful ladies... Please make one video how to find a beautiful German girl for marriage,,😉
We have 2 videos that talk about dating: ua-cam.com/video/_mp6_nEvMmk/v-deo.htmlsi=yiYZv3hmCRMb8yZW and ua-cam.com/video/P3AcUbCf8as/v-deo.htmlsi=Pw4_BLEWKSkixfo8
Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you for such clear explanations. One question though - I am an expat in Germany and applied for Blue Card in August23 , so it is before March 24. Now I am living in Germany but my Blue Card still not issued. When I get it which is after March 24 - will I be able to bring my father--law in Germany (my wife is here and we can pay for him)?
You will have to ask your Ausländerbehörde.
Thank you the detailed overview! I was just thinking about “upgrading” my current skilled worker visa to the Blue Card but it seems like the portal is not ready for the situation when I’m already in Germany (there’s no Germany in the country dropdown list). Where should I apply in this case?
At your local Ausländerbehörde 😊
Thank you sehr sehr
Love your videos ❤
Informative i just want to add one thing Can u please make a video on pharmacist immigration into Germany and degree recognition for pharmacist please its a request
Manifesting the blue card for this year🥺
That shirt looks like a Star Trek uniform
hi please also guide where to get renewal of EU Blue card? is there any online portal or how to get appointment ? no info available on Dusseldorf immigration portal for renewal, thanks a lot
I did my Ausbildung here in Germany as a Pflegefachman, can I apply for this chance? Thanks
Can self-employed people get the blue card if they earn more that the requirement? For eg, UA-camr, Freelancer, etc.
Blue card is for skilled workers
Hi Both,
When we are applying for a VISA EU Blue card before arriving in Germany, can we also bring our family/spouse along with us?
Or should we move in 1st and then apply for a family reunion visa?
Most people do the second way. But discuss with your embassy if you can already apply for family reunion visa while you are applying for the Blue Card.
Hello. Can you make a video for people that want to have a side hustle and what kind of things can make with a pickup truck? Thx and have a great day! 🎉
We have a video on that 😊 ua-cam.com/video/nisn0LFTd4w/v-deo.htmlsi=guPqrNa1jFrH7G-F
Thank you 🙏
Can I apply for a blue card as a nurse here in Germany with b2 and have lived here for the past 6months?
Hello, thanks a lot for this informative video. Could you please confirm if the 12 month validity rule of Blue Card while staying outside of Germany is also valid for Blue Cards which were issued in mid of 2023?
Thank you for your independent work, ladies! A question: my university is recognized with +A, however I couldn't find my degree tagged to the university. Would I be able to apply still? Considering only this factor.
You might need to get the ZAB statement. Your German embassy can tell you.
Germany did what American politicians has being debating and campaigning on for 30 years
Rules regarding bringing parents after March 2024, you specifically said management position? How is this defined? Or do you just go back to the point of high salary?
Only your local Ausländerbehörde can tell you. There is no real definition in the law.
Very informative video, new visa requirement is this : Handelsregisterauszug des in Deutschland ansässigen Unternehmens. Any idea what this is and where to get it
It’s the registration of your company. Google it for your city.
@@simplegermany OMG! you guys are extra amazing, :-) you actually replied🙂 So l just download that from google and provide them right?
The WelcomeCenter administration is a bad joke. I applied for BlueCard 1 year ago. I can’t see any status online. Via telephone and email there is no reply.
Can you give more details about the permanent residency from blue card? I have checked the details from the federal government and from the city but the requirements do not match. They say I need the integration course certificate, but it takes too long to do it.
Whether you need an integration course is individual. Some get asked to do one when they arrive in Germany, others don’t. You need to speak to your Ausländerbehörde to find out what is the case for you.
What is meaning of Blue Card Remark “18B ABS. 2 S.2” ?
Thanks
It refers to the law paragraph it is based on.
@@simplegermany can you please send me more information or link where I check all detailed information
You could simply Google it yourself or look on the German government website: www.make-it-in-germany.com/en/visa-residence/types/eu-blue-card
18b no longer exists and is now 18g since the new law took effect. You can also find online threads about this topic 😉
how can I know if my degree is comparable? please can I have the website where I can search if my university is comparable?
You can find the links in the description 😊
@@simplegermany thank you!) i will definitely check it out)) thank you again for all your work and helpful info!)
Would be nice to know more about the construction industry, specifically welding. Ich bin Schweißerin.
Is there a validity of certificate of this B1 ? If it was completed some years ago ?
Not to our knowledge.
Can someone tell me about this? thanks and have a nice day :)
PS: My german degree is relevant for the job. I am in science field (research and lab work)
I like this video!😊❤
What if you have a degree in one field, but you made transition in your career, and you are doing something totally opposite ( software engineering)?
Then you most likely don't qualify for the Blue Card but instead a regular work permit (like what Jen had). Exception is IT - a degree is not needed here as we outline in the video 😊
@@simplegermany well since im a software engineer for 5 years now, i guess this qualify me for blue card?
How does one know if the new law has been passed and accepted
We explain that in this video: ua-cam.com/video/QsnLWduvZ6U/v-deo.htmlsi=zsAvOpUa-wv7y3fV
Thanks for the video. My bachelor is in Economics and I hold a MSc degree in Computer science. Plus I have software/data engineer experience for 8+ years. I’d like to find a job as a software/data engineer. Do you think I am eligible for Germany Blue Card? If so how?
Thanks😊
Your background sounds like it makes you eligible. The next criteria is your salary. Please watch the video in full, as we explain all requirements. The how - you need to fullfil the requirements and then apply for a Blue Card visa and/or residence permit 😊

Good to hear I am eligible, do you know how I am eligible? Because of having a masters degree in computer science or my experience? As my bachelor is Economics
Thanks
Thanks for the video! I have a question though. I started my job in May 2023 and my blue card is tied to it. Does that mean I cannot change my job after this May without asking for approval because it was issued before March 2024?
Thanks for the information. I’ve a question. I moved to Germany on dependent visa and I currently hold dependent visa. Now that I’ve got a job and working IT professional with university degree. How can I apply for my own blue card? Please share the link or guide me through this process as I could not find any details for my scenario. Thanks
You need to inform your local Ausländerbehörde of your change and apply with them for a Blue Card.
@@simplegermany Thank you!!
I am from India,If I have D visa from Estonia. So can I apply directly for Blue card in Germany ?
