The lack of reaction to being told with pinpoint accuracy that he's a nasty piece of work, the attempt to refocus the interview on what people want to hear (what he wants them to hear he means, not the truth about him) are telling. One of the great interviews.

Watching this March 2023 after he was ousted as PM and just after the Partygate select committee . The tactics Johnston tries to use are pretty much identical, i.e try to rubbish the interviewers questions or to make light of any accusations put before him, then when that doesn't work, try to steer the conversation to another subject entirely, then finally, get angry and try to take over and dominate the proceedings because he's been found out.
There's nothing worse for the narcissist to be cornerned and have their script of lies they have in their heads exposed and dismantled. 10 years after this interview, the only thing that had changed about him at the select committee was the confident smirk on his face had gone.

No, in fact something very important has been revealed. Boris gets away with a lot of stuff because he's so charming and likeable. He seems genuinely nice. Mair has shown that he's done several things that could only be described as nasty; this has certainly opened my eyes. How can we trust a man who is so convincing at playing the nice guy, but who behind closed doors is a callous and cynical git?

Eddie Mair is brilliant. The new Paxo? A razor-sharp, analytical intellect combined with a wonderfully dry sense of humour.
Poor old Boris came out of this looking like a liar and a slippery character. He may be bluff and apparently unstuffy, but just watch the way he avoids giving straight answers.

2022 here. He’s sort of gone. He gave a speech this week where everyone expected him to resign, although he never used the words Resign or Resignation. He also didn’t take responsibility for the mess the country is in, and blamed the Tory party for hounding him out.
      He’s a shit.

This just shows what was always known about him and not one tory can deny it or claim ignorance. They still put him in the seat and the rest is history. Trying to deflect questions, change the direction of the questions etc etc. What an embarrassment and the warnings were there as many of us knew. Just others ignored it and made the rest of the country suffer.
