The new nether update decreased likelihood of fortresses spawning so it was actually a lot easier to find them before! The dolphin effect makes you swim faster. Great reaction! Can’t wait for the next one

god apples are one of the rarest things in minecraft because they're so op
they give you resis , absorbtion , regen , fire res
basically , your health goes to full , your hearts doubled , you take less damage and you're lavaproof and fireproof
Plus the gapple has even longer effects on top of the golden apple
@@s.colton84weikel24 We actually use "gapple" for the golden apple and "God Apple" or "Notch Apple" (no clear winner between the two) for the Enchanted Golden Apple.

regular red apple : obtained from oak/dark trees
golden apple : obtained from crafting
8 gold and one red apple
God apple/ enchanted golden apple/ Notch Apple : can only be obtained by FINDING IN CHESTS and CANT BE CRAFTED

The dolphin affect allows you to swim faster. I've heard that affect is faster than the boat, dunno, I just saw it..

The reason why dream found the nether fortress so fast because they are playing on old version(1.15 or so) and because of that nether fortress were easy to be found ...and in the latest version of minecraft (that is 1.16) mojang made nether fortress *RARE* ..and it takes hours to find a fortress 😀... that's the reason..
hours? you can always find one in max 15 minutes, but normally much sooner
Correct but also dream edits a large portion of these videos out and when talking abut recording the manhunt series he said that the longest recording session was over 4 hours long.

I love how he’s an adult starting a war about farming potatoes. This is why I love Techno.
nether fortresses are way harder to find in the newest update. but dream still finds them much faster than the average player because he is a speedrunner, so especially in the 1.16 nether, he knows where nether fortresses are most frequently found from learned intuition and experience. just fyi, he also generally knows better than the average player how to find the end fortress and where it can spawn, plus the most frequent places/areas where the end portal room spawns based on common structures in the fortress. it's really impressive how much knowledge he has, but he needs to know stuff like this to have a better chance at getting good speedrunning times. also, dream is the only one editing and making plugins (if they're being used) for his videos! just letting you know bc you keep saying "they." to reiterate what some other comments have said, you have a chance to get the dolphin effect ("dolphin's grace," and i think it's only in java version) by swimming close to a dolphin. it makes you faster than a boat. also sorry if i already said this and i just don't remember, but keep in mind that george is colorblind, which makes it much harder for him to see/notice certain things sometimes in future manhunts. anyway, i love your reactions! your energy is infectious and it's really great how invested you get. tysm for another great reaction, looking forward to the next one!
EDIT: to clarify, i should have been more clear about the nether fortresses! they spawn evenly and also more commonly in open areas, but finding them is based more on luck than anything. i was just thinking about how in dream's speedrunning streams, he knows the general area where nether fortresses MIGHT be just because of experience, but that doesn't apply to the average player at all.
Almost correct. Nether fortresses spawn evenly through the Nether. There is no specific method to find a fortress quicker, like along any given access. It literally is all based on luck. This is why speedrunners are frustrated with 1.16. You can't speedrun for fun anymore, because 1.16 killed nether fortresses. They are so hard to find now, that you have to get extremely lucky to get a good run (sub 30 min).
Strongholds, on the other hand, do have specific spawning locations. They spawn within certain rings at certain x,z distances from the origin, and these Dream has memorized to make finding them quicker. He knows about what coordinates the rings are at and how many strongholds are in each ring, especially the first since you're usually closest to that.

@@leonakim7979 I did not know he mentioned that. I know they spawn evenly through according to the wiki. However, you have a better chance at finding one in an open area solely because you can see more of the map.
I don't mean to nit pick either, but since she is new to the game, being especially specific about some of these details will help her. I'm sure you already knew that like you said, which is why I was clarifying for her sake.

The dolphin effect is called dolphin's grace".
When you get close to a dolphin, it gives you that positive effect which allows you to swim as fast as a dolphin for a few seconds.

I’m pretty sure Dream is playing in 1.15+, 1.16 makes Nether Fortresses IMPOSSIBLE to find.
He still finds the tho
Its probably in 1.14.4 the wood strategy for the village is usually what speedrunners (like me) go for in pre-1.15.
i found one almost right next to my portal in 1.16 -_-
Some people have mentioned some of these, but here's the list:
1) Update 1.16 butchered the spawn rate of nether fortresses. Many main minecraft youtubers are not happy, and especially speedrunners find it frustrating. Rather than it being about skills, speedrunning is all about luck, with one of the primary make-or-break components being can you find a stronghold.
In this video, they are still on 1.15, so fortresses are much easier to find.
2) Dolphins give a status effect called Dolphin's Grace, which significantly boosts your swimming speed. You end up swimming faster than a boat when you have the effect. According to the wiki, the Bedrock version also has where dolphins give you a speed boost. However, there is no status effect to indicate that you get a speed boost like there is in Java.
3) The enchanted golden apple is a life saver. It was previously craftable, but its crafting recipe was removed in 1.9. The apple gives Absorption IV for 2 minutes (giving 8 extra hearts), Regeneration II for 20 seconds in Java or Regeneration V for 30 seconds in Bedrock, Fire Resistance I for 5 minutes, and Resistance I for 5 minutes (20% damage reduction from virtually all sources). It is an op apple, and is like the Golden Apple on steroids.
4) Dream and George are playing with Optifine. It's a mod that makes all the graphics quality run smoother. It also adds a few other features like the option to remove the fog in the Nether. One important feature that appeared in the last video and this one is the Optifine torch. Holding a torch or other light/fire based object actually illuminates the area around you. In the standard game, you have to place a torch for it to light up the area. George likes to hold torches in his hand and use Optifine to light things up for him to see better. However, Dream also often finds him because of this illuminating effects as well.
5) In case you missed it, here's a fun fact. When falling from great heights, there are many ways to save yourself. Placing bodies of water, enderpearls, and MLG moves can be used. "Pearls don't fall faster," as Dream says in the video. When you throw an enderpearl straight down, it falls slower than the player does. Therefore, when using enderpearls to save yourself, you have to be careful not to throw it too early. Dream almost dies in this video by just about throwing too soon.

@@SuperMcGregs Certainly! To be honest, I moved away from Minecraft and over to Terraria somewhere around the 1.10 update. I moved back recently after watching Dream's manhunt videos. They got me back into the spirit of the game, and it's fun seeing all that's changed since I've been away. I've also learned several things from watching him as well, so it's fun seeing you do the same. For example, despite previously playing the game for years, I never thought about building a nether portal with a bucket. I always got diamonds cause I assumed they were needed.

I recently watched George's footage of this up on his channel, and aside from how fun it is seeing what he was doing when, it's also interesting how different I felt watching compared to the 'official' version here. Like, with Dream I was all 'Yes, get him!' but watching George it was mainly 'OH GOD RUN AWAY GEORGE'
Fun fact about the editing, the dream v 3+ hunters videos take him 4+ hours to record so yes a lot gets cut out
The fortress usually spawns far away from spawn. So Dream tends to find it quicker in Manhunt since he runs so much.
9:35 - Yeah, fortresses became very rare in 1.16, since there are only 2 biomes that they spawn in if I'm not mistaking (soulsand valley and nether wastes)
The dolphin grace is an effect that you get when a dolphin is near you and makes you swim pretty fast
Also, if you want a long water fight, check dream's manhunt with illumina
Enchanted golden apples (notch apples or god apples) are insanely good for pvp, like, they make you almost invincible for a few seconds (regeneration, resistance, absorbtion and fire resistance)

1 block in the nether is 8 blocks in the overworld, so if you enter the nether, move 100 blocks forward and make a portal, you would have travelled 800 blocks in the overworld, that is extremely useful for traveling.
Also, you heard them say "Optifine torch" that means that they have a mod called Optifine, which is a mod for changing graphic settings in the game, it also allows to turn dynamic lights, which makes the torch you're holding actually work in your hand, so Dream could see George torch light move around.

Dream always plays Christmas music whenever he finds diamonds. Watch his Block Shuffle video (very funny) for example.
16:37 The god apples are one of the rarest things in the game. They fire reistence and resiestance for 5 minutes, regen 2 and absorbtion. They give you about 7 extra hearts when you eat it, and it is a real game changer

If you swim near a dolphin they can give you dolphins grace, which allows you to swim quick

fortresses are harder to find in the recent version but he does edit the boring parts without interactions out and he does it pretty seamlessly.
He does an amazing job with the editing! I'm always entertained. There never seems to be any lull parts.

part of how he finds strongholds so easily is just how quickly he runs through the nether compared to a regular playthrough, even on 1.16 he still finds them really quick cause he moves so fast
I usually like to put videos up on my second monitor while I'm playing games as more of a background noise thing, but when I started watching manhunts I would start just staring at the video and pausing my games instead. It's so entertaining and suspensful like you said, had to give them my full attention!

The enchanted golden apples (notch apples, or god apples are other names for it) gives you fire resistance and resistance two for 8 mins. It gives absorption and insane regeneration for a minute. Its basically a super golden apple.

Yeayyyy! This is finally here! So the dolphins right! When a dolphins swims near you, you get a potion effect called "dolphin grace" since the dolphins swim very fast... The grace helps you swim faster than usual... You can try out urself one day in your world it's a pretty cool thing! 😀

9:26 they have someone search for good seeds which explains the tons of village in this manhunt, so he probably found a seed that has a nether fortress close by. Or he just edits everything out.

The enchanted apple is rare non-craftable item. Its gives you 4 mins of resistance and fire resostance, 2 mins of absorbtion and 30 sec of regeneration V. Basicly youre invinsible for 30 seconds. It used to be craftable with 8 gold blocks and an apple but its removed

I actually switched from Bedrock to Java about 6 months ago. Best decision I ever made in Minecraft. Bedrock was just too buggy and doesn’t allow you to do the same stuff you can do in Java. Also finally being able to use Xisumavoid’s vanillatweaks.net features was icing on the cake.
I look forward to switching. I can't wait to play around with mods and what not :)

the "dolphin power" is called dolphins grace and it lets you swim faster. The effect is in effect as long as a dolphin is swimming next to you. Swimming with a dolphin is faster then a boat at times.
Edit: They are Enchanted Golden Apples, They are very rare because they can't be crafted. They also give you incredible effects like: regeneration 2, absorption 4, resistance, and fire resistance.

The dolphine power is a gift if you come close to it it will give you there speed so you can swim faster and if you throw a gold or diamond the dolphin we lead it to a shipwreck or treasure

It's a mix of new nether making it harder to find fortresses and the fact they edit out some of the boring parts where they aren't really saying anything and just running around.
Before the nether update the nether fortress are very common but after 1.16 they made it very rare...

You get Dolphin's Grace (aka dolphin power) by swimming near dolphins. You can then swim really fast. Also Enchanted Golden apples make you pretty much invincible for a short time.

You get the dolphin affect by speed swimming near a dolphin and it’ll swim with you giving you speed and aqua affinity
older version of nether is smaller so fortresses r waaaaaaaaay more common.
