"How do I properly ask my mommy and daddy to forgive the loan they already said they won't forgive? I'm the youngest of 5 and they are supposed to be spoiling me, but they aren't doing that! 😭🤧"
This idiot called asking Dave how he can weasel out of paying his bills like a man. Ken ask how does he make more money as a farrier and boy Patrick stuttered and stammered. The boy makes $15,000 a year and owes parents $10,000. Dave is right, this BOY needs to get a real job and pay the parents back like a real man would. But he doesn't sound serious like Dave said.
Many, many moons ago my parents were at the dinner table with us 7 children and made an announcement. Dad said "We will get you through High School. After that, you are all on your own. We suggest Community College or Trade School". All of us Children did just fine choosing careers and becoming self-sufficient. No excuses.
Horses are for rich people. My "Brother from another mother" was roped in to owning not 1 but 2 race horses back in the late 1970's. Sometimes they made money, but mostly they lost races. The boarding fees, food, vet and farrier bills were HUGE! The final straw was when the other partner suggested sending the racehorse to Florida for the winter for training. As Frank said, if any one is going to Florida for 6 months, it is going to be me!
When I hear people like this I can't help but think, where did the parent's go wrong. I know a lot about this from observing others as well as my own upbringing.
Easily. I know of 3 making over that right now. But you have to be where the work is. If you are spending all your time driving from client to client, 20 or 30 miles between each one, you'll never make any money. Have to live near horse centers, Kentucky, Florida, California. Race tracks, horse show centers. Theres a shortage of blacksmith, he can make it if he's smart. I know even stupid lazy ones making good money!!!!
Jesus! A real ingrate! I one who also, advises family to give not loan money to family for this very reason. Its causing the rift and giving him an excuse to not earn his own way. Dad forgot to teach him honor and integrity.
It sounds like he wouldn’t have had to pay it back if he went to get a college education. I’m pretty sure they made that clear which is why his siblings aren’t in this situation.
I side with the parents. Pretty damn ungrateful. He think his parents are the government or something? Do this on the side while getting a FT job with benefits.
We've got a horse and we live north of Colorado Springs, a young farrier is not ideal because it's such an important job. We want someone who's in their '50s or '60s who's been doing this for 40 plus years.
@@1jw298they have a horse. Only the (perceived) best for their pet equine. Like all trades, sometimes older is better, but sometimes they have to take shotcuts because age has taken its toll. And sometimes the trade has just passed them up. (this guy however is a dufus & needs to grow up)
The minimum wage in Colorado is $14.42 per hour or $29,992 per year in a full time 40 hour per week job. The guy should be able to do that as a bare minimum.
Nice video. Not a criticism, I enjoy your insights. I tend to think prices could go higher if XAI220K rockets. But understand the logic for sandbagging estimates. My opinion is XAI220K breaks 1, perhaps reaches 10 ATH, if conditions are right. But broader forces are at play now. We’re moving into really unknown territory. And these entities are shrewd. I think there’s massive manipulation ahead. If XAI220K survives that, well, we’re likely in for a good pump.
Well, if his parents gave his siblings help with uni fees, they should have given him the same help to set up his business. Nothing breeds resentment more than knowing you were left out. However, he does need to get a full-time job and, if it was a loan rather than a gift, he should pay the money back asap. In the order of things, he'll be the one who's done "the right thing" and $10k in the coming years will seem like far to little an amount of money to fall out over. Having said that, quite often I have to put the settings to 2x playback speed just to get to the crux of the matter without pulling my hair out.
No they shouldn’t have. They don’t have to do anything. I would wager that they wanted him to go to college, he refused because he had this bright idea and was being a known it all. Now he’s stuck living at home paying next to nothing for rent and making poverty wage ‘living his dream’. He’s a brat and sounds like he spends what he does make on getting fried
Yea a big problem with this kid is his attitude and mindset, that’s the biggest reason why Dave was so hard on him, because he doesn’t have his head on straight
Depends on your finances . 1000$ in XAI220K is 4000 XAI220K if it goes to 50% of ath in 2024 thats a 600% gain. If it goes equal to ath . Its a 1200% gain.
Jesus he can't be shoeing many horses at all. It's 200 ish a horse in my country and each horse needs shoeing every six to eight weeks. Most farriers would do 8-10 a day. It's a good income though gas is high. I think he has a lack of work ethic. Do this as your side hustle it seems. He's obviously fit and good with tools so he has some skills that can be applied somewhere else.
He thought they’d help him figure out how to convince his parents to forgive the loan lol. I think that’s why he kept going back to that. Or at least validate him on “my parents are the bad guys here and I’m the victim” which makes perfect sense in his world but is not reality.
I make more at my part time job than this guy, then I babysit and/or tutor and/or nanny up to 55 hours a week (75 hours in a week is my record). I'm also married. It sounds like he's working 10 hours a week or not charging enough.

He lost me at $15,000. My partner is a farrier, and he has way more work than he can handle. He gets $200 per horse and even tho he's elderly, he can easily shoe 4 or 5 horses a day. This guy is just in the wrong area. Show horse and race horse people pay a LOT for a good farrier.
In fairness to the caller, he's 23 or something, not "elderly". He stated himself that he could make good money if he had enough clients. I'm guessing that your partner has built up a good reputation over many years, and got his start when a young man could easily afford to live on a shoestring budget while building that reputation.
Money is way better now than it was back when my partner started out, and he still made good money starting out. He just needs to go to a horse centric area if he wants to make a good living. I know of 3 blacksmiths right now that make well over 100k a year. You have to be where the work is.

Your other siblings went to school and are trying to make something of their life, whereas this kid seems like just trying to coast through life. I'd say good job to his parents, but I don't think they'll ever see that money again and might as well just secretly write it off
