You are a great teacher. You explain what you’re doing and why all along the way. You emphasize that things don’t have to be perfect and your voice is very soothing.
Lovely as always, Betsi❤ I usually watch your videos without drawing along, then rewatch and try it myself. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and encouraging words😊
Looking though your videos tonight, I discovered I'd missed this one. Thoroughly enjoyed it. What an excellent class! Love both of your versions. Lots of shapes and elements in these to practice on and found your tips and tricks quite helpful. Size is perfect too.. Not too overwhelming. Thank you Miss Betsi! ❤🕊️
I’m playing around with colours at the moment, just using gel pens. I followed you with this beautiful design using pink, orange, green and blue. It didn’t turn out as elegant as yours, but it was great fun doing it. Thank you so much for the inspiration 😊❤
Génial 👍 Merci de partager votre expérience avec nous... Magnifiques dessins et très bien expliqué pas à pas. Moi je débute et vos conseils me sont très précieux.Merci beaucoup
Love this. Need to work on some of these techniques. It's pretty. Didn't think I'd like drawing with pens until I discovered Zentangle. Love it. Pens are inexpensive.
I'm so glad you like them! Sometimes it can be a bit daunting to buy pens that a little more expensive (at least it was for me), but these are totally worth it.
I’m completely impressed with your line work. It’s perfect every single time! Even zooming in I find no imperfections. I’m afraid to grab a pen first so I first start with pencil. My question is… Do you think line work is a practiced skill or a natural talent?
That's such a good question. I'm sure some people might have a natural talent or inherent dexterity, but I believe 100% that it still always comes down to practice. I guarantee there are plenty of days when my lines are messy and uneven, when my creations feel uninspired. I don't mention this too often, but there are entire videos I have filmed and edited ... only to then discard the whole thing. I've learned over the years to let go. This way I can move on and try again.
You're not alone! I agree with what Betsi said. I know for me, the practice helps me feel more confident, therefore there's less hesitancy in my lines. That helps immensely with how smoothly the lines flow. Just try not to compare yourself to other people, only work to be better than YOU were yesterday. (Not always easy to do 😕)
Thank you so much for your reply’s. I’m new to line art and think that’s why I’ve always done Watercolors, seems more fluid. @Lisablacker3102 Thank you. I do compare my lines to Miss Betsi’s, and you are right. I should not and I need to just accept that I need to practice more. I’m my own biggest critic and the sad part is that this line art is something I’m doing just for myself. I purchased one of Miss Betsi’s beautiful journals and I’m too nervous to start drawing in it. So with more practice I may work up the courage.
There is a slight difference between them. Most of the time I prefer the hard-tipped pen, as it feels a little more like regular pens, but recently I've learned to appreciate what the soft-tipped pen can do. I think it will come down to whether you prefer your tools to be firm or soft. The link I provide is for a set that comes with one of each. Might help you to try both out and decide which works best for you.
I love your complete class videos and I hope you make more of these videos. I draw with you and I enjoy it. Thank you so much Betsi 🙏🙏
Beauty is simplicity. You always have the ability to use very simple patterns to create wonderful drawings. I always enjoy your full classes. Awesome!
Thank you so much 😀

Such good clear instructions. Easy to follow instructions. Thank you!
This has to be the best work I think you’ve done. Amazing.

Go for it!
I finally bought a couple of those Tombow pens! I love them!

Wow thank you 💙 and welcome !
Thank you!! ❤ it!!
Thank you 💖🙏💐. Is there a link for the art journals coming?
The link for the journals is betsijae.gumroad.com . I'll edit the description to be clearer ☺
Dhalias and Aztec headdresses.
I was thinking Mayan, but yes, some kind Mesoamerican crown for sure 😊
Yes! Mayan headdresses. About halfway through the drawing I realized they looked like feathered crowns. I'm officially changing the title 😎.
Yes, "Mayan" is better. Glad to know I wasn't a million miles off. Honoured to see the official change of title. 😎
Tomboy pens come in soft and hard, which do you reccommend and is there a difference between them?
