@@jasonhigley3536 this channel is a good place to start then if you're just learning...check out VARIANT COMICS too, and their "history of" series... a lot shorter and more condensed than Rob's videos, but very good, and gives examples of specific comics to read if you're interested in a character/team/storyline, etc...
I feel like a few details were missed here. For one thing, it's a common misconception that Odin falls into the Odinsleep immediately. He falls to eath with Galactus and speaks a prophecy to Thor before he "passes out" meanwhile Galactus himself is out cold. However, we find out after this that Odin did not in fact pass out but sent his consciousness off to pilot the destroyer and says as much once it shows up and causes Galactus to retreat. When the threat of the World Eater is gone, Odin consciousness returns to him and he tells Thor directly that he was the one who summoned the Destroyer to continue the fight with Galen and even following this he is still conscious and functioning (albeit in a weakened state). This entire segment of the story was left out of the video and I'm not sure why but anyways, it's worth noting.
Ik kinda annoys me how he constantly downplays asguardians but loves and even said one time spider could humble all the avengers including hulk and Thor and for some reason the comic says one thing then he constructs a way to down play it's so weird

The hammer didn't do what it wanted, Odin summoned and took Mjolnir. This was still before the Mother Storm retcon when Odin could control Mjolnir whenever he wanted.

@@satanicpony644 As in, before Jason Aaron retconned the origin of Mjolnir, Odin had absolute control over the hammer. More than Thor or anyone else. So Rob saying this was a seed that Aaron built on was false. Mjolnir didn't move on it's own, Odin took control and summoned the hammer to the Destroyer Armor to fight Galactus.
Just like in Fear Itself after Thor whacked Odin once with Mjolnir Odin said something like “ drop “ and Mjolnir hit the ground while Thor was still holding it.
Videos like this make me wish we had seen Odin show off more of his power in the MCU. We hear people talk about how powerful he is more often than actually seeing him do anything on this level.

That and the Odin Force is as weakening too so he was growing strong as the age he was in the sense that unworthy Thor nearly beat him to death until Baldor stopped Thor and Odin was also drunk.
ODIN is a total BADASS.
An Odin powered Dr Doom was the final boss in MUA, wheres Galactus was the sub-boss. And Dormammu was the sub-boss on MvC 3 where Galactus was the final boss.

Silver Surfer Vol. 3 from 1987 to 1998 Is pretty good.

You missed the detail that Odin didn’t just go into the Odin sleep but into the destroyer armour. so it was Odin summoning mjolnir
Do you know if Odin used his Odin Force when hitting Galactus? As Rob narrated things, I think Odin didn't. Then, my argument is that if Odin had used Odin's Force against Galactus, the ultimate consequence of that battle would be both dead.

@@CTimmerman In Marvel I think Borr was born from nature itself, just like Galactus. Odin is then a son of a being that came to be from the force of nature.

Would love to see a video on one of my favourite Spider-Man story lines ever Kraven’s last hunt. I seem to remember you saying you haven’t read it, could be wrong. I think it’s one of the all time best story line of any comic in marvel and would love to see it shared with others who haven’t had the opportunity to read it. So much more than a hero beating the villain in the story, very deep concepts of morality and a sense of self.

Question, if Galactus has comic awarness, then why does he need heralds? Isn't he all knowing with the power cosmic?
"Then we wouldn't have the characters" is the out-of-comics argument, but I don't even know if power cosmic makes one 'omnipotent', but even 'far sight' could be tedious/tiring. There's a reason the phrase 'Galactus stirs' is used in this comic; he hibernates between feasts. It's the way predators never waste their energy and Glactus has been shown (as in this comic) to back off once what he wants is either gone or not worth the effort. He has heralds, whose use of power does not drain from his own (citation needed) do the leg work for him so he saves AS MUCH energy as he can, not wasting even a drop.

There was also the world eaters / anti-gods Fraction created to act as a justification for Thor bringing Odin back as causing Asgard some destruction and shoot Odin with ray guns

Hey rob can you cover an old comic where thor somehow one shots galactus with a concentrated attack?
He did, its called a god blast I think. It uses the lifeforce of Thor as he channels it through Mjolnir. He can impact the head of a celestial If I remember correctly.
@@Valoruchiha while the godblast is totally a thing, that old comic never described his attack on galactus as such, although it did say he channeled his inner godly power through the hammer instead of just using some lightning, so it may have been a godblast

We need to pick the “best author of marvel comics” to sit down and make an issue solely to explore the beginning of the marvel universe called “Origin of Marvel” and take into account The builders, celestials, the eternals, eternity, the life tree and whoever else played a hand in making the Marvel universe and sift thru and make it clear.
Leave out those Builders though ( never knew why they were created. Just doing the same as Celestials).

Celestials broke off and moved into part of the first universe (Eternity, the second universe/multiverse due to their chaotic nature, as explained by the Never Queen).

Odin was outclassed by Galactus here, and 4 planet fed Galactus one shot kills Celestials who make all Skyfathers bow.

They retreated, used the power of the Celestial they killed and merged all 4 into one super Celestial. A Celestial that had to be more than the sum of its parts.
Didn’t kill Galactus either as far as I can tell, as adult Franklin used kid Franklin’s power to resuscitate him.

The problem with comparing the power of Galactus and Odin is that it doesn't matter. Odin knows too much and always cheats. It's never a question of power, it's whether or not Odin can pull off his scheme. Or set of schemes. Or interlocking myriad of schemes.
I really like looking at it this way! Super clever.
It actually makes sense the Wyrd Sisters are Olympian but associate with Norse cosmology, too. The idea of three fates is common among all Indo-European religions.
The Norns and the Fates are not the same as the Weird Sisters. Their 3different mythologies. Asgardian, Greek, and Arthurian.

The siege story is not in the description. There is never a link in the description to what he says there is.
I think all the different origins of the universe we see come from all the times it's been destroyed and remade, each one being from a different iteration. So like in the recent thing with Dr. Strange recreating the Universe as it was, now there's a new creation story, but the beings who were involved with previous recreations still remember doing things their way and are unaware everything was remade again. So as everything is destroyed and remade over and over, the origins grow apace.

@@cheeseburgerfreddy6350 I think OP's concern is pretty warranted though. Odin shouldn't and honestly displayed by this comic can't necessarily go toe to toe with Galactus. I think in another video back in the day Rob said Galactus is on par with a Celestial. There is a story where Odin with the help of the other Skyfathers gets obliterated by the Celestials during one the host events. In this story it was just normal odin channeling everything hehad for one hit. It's sort of weird that Galactus depending on the story is either a punching bag or a God Tier character.

Andrew Baag who the fuck knows tbh. I think something something Second expansion of Galactus’s original universe but that’s CONTRADICTED just by Knull’s origin from the void followed by Celestians fucking around and pissing Knull off leading to the Symbiotes and maybe there were Builders/Beyonders that also kicked off life once the Celestials planted their seeds on planets (yes 2 characters have origins that explicitly contradict the existence of EVERYTHING)
Oh and because of the recent Avengers: No Road Home… you also have the house which sorta implies a 4th-wall meta narrative akin to “Gwenpool” where it’s literally being DRAWN by artists and authors on a higher plane of existence
But also having that story focus on Olympus you also evoke the ever existing primordials of Chaos which birthed the further primordials, which further birthed the giants and titans the later of which birthed the gods with Prometheus the Titan allying with the Gods but also betraying them by making man and giving them fire… which provoked Zeus to pull an original sin with Pandora gifting her a vessel which housed all kinds of horrors and illnesses and evil knowing her of her immeasurable curiosity making it impossible for her to NOT open the damn thing (what’s it with god stories and a woman causing the downfall of mankind anyway?)
BUT Black Panther’s god is sometimes depicted as Bast who is an Egyptian deity that’s MET Doctor Doom which “VERY complicated and poorly translated story short” means we also have the Egyptian’s explanation to contend with…
Oh and the Nordic
and traditional Christian because FUCKING GHOST RIDER OF ALL ASSHOLES MET THE ARCHANGEL MICHAEL IN A STORY INVOLVING JUDAS’ FEELINGS OF BETRAYAL SURROUNDING JESUS (GOD HIMSELF) CHRIST!!!
So Galactus, Knull, Thor, Ghost Rider, Hercules and Black Panther just off the top of my head offer SIX contradicting versions of “in the beginning…”

J. Michael Straczynski & Matt Fraction's Thor run > Aaron's by far. Aaron has just been riding the cotails of Gorr the God Butcher, most of his other stuff are just okay. I don't even like War of Realms, it's just underwhelming. But I just hate how Odin was reduced to an unstable alcoholic drunk and toxic head of a patriarchal regime.

Aaron has this tendency of writing epic fantasy characters like they are thugs from Brooklyn.
It's how i feel about his Thanos Rising story. He doesn't depict the titanian Eternals like an enlightened society of mythological superhumans, he writes them like regular modern day humans who happen to have weird clothes and live on Titan.

I think that’s part of the reason why Old King Thor is such a BEAST in the God of Thunder epilogue fighting off Galactus. Because unlike Odin, Thor had 3 gods backing juicing him up instead of just 2
