What a wonderful analogy! I love hearing and watching you play, you play so beautifully, and make it look so effortless, which is the sign of someone who has put in a lot of time, mastering their instrument..💙♥️

My dear, you are so sweet! I wish you were my teacher. I am a 68 year old lady who tries learning the piano at that age! You make me feel so happy when I watch your videos.

Excellent analogy. I'm a 'nibbler' when it comes to practicing music. I need to look into your program when I get back to my piano. Soon, I hope. Where's your website please?

Yes. Break it down to small pieces. You don’t wanna shove a whole side of beef 🥩 in your pie hole in one bite. If you don’t choke and die you’ll most likely throw up on your shoes. Either way, it doesn’t work.
Work on whatever is giving you a problem. If it’s moving from one chord to another, loop those 2 chords over and over until you can do it flawlessly. I suggest 10 minute loop blocks. Yes, 10 minutes will seem like a monotonous eternity but if you focus on execution for the full 10 minutes, when you sit down the next day it will be like magic. If it’s a difficult passage you may have to repeat the process for several days.
Remember, if you get frustrated and begin to think that maybe you just suck, don’t give up, push harder, because when you get to that point that means you’re on the edge of a breakthrough.
Patience and discipline are your greatest ally.
Nobody is any smarter or better than you.
An expert is someone who, when the going got tough, they kept going.
    Another mind numbing cliche:
Quiters never win and winners never quit 🤔

I agree with a lot of what you say, but looping an action for 10 minutes can be very detrimental. If it works for you, that's great!

@ I agree with you there. It’s more of an action I’ve taken out of frustration from my hands refusing to cooperate with my brain. I sentence them to 10 minutes of hard labor.
Here’s an interesting problem I recently encountered. I’ve been working on an Elton John song. I got it to where I can play it fairly well from beginning to end. So I moved to singing the lyric melody over the music. Going along with your dining analogy, it was like spilling a plate of spaghetti and meatballs on your 3 piece suit. I had to make all kinds of adjustments like turning a few whole
notes into half notes, a timing issue, and using a few different chord inversions here and there. It was a lesson in ignorance. Now I know to at the very least, hum the melody so I can put everything where it belongs from the get go.
I try not to be a perfectionist trying to copy someone else’s playing. I can’t. They are them, I am me
      (sounds like a beatles song)
I think with music you are expressing yourself through song. It won’t come out right if you’re trying to be someone you’re not. Classical music is a different story, it’s not about you, it’s about the song, so you’d better hit every note the way it was written.
