- The apostle Peter wrote these letters to encourage persecuted Christians and to defend the authenticity of God's Word against false teaching that had infiltrated the church. He called on believers to grow in their faith so they might detect and combat the spreading apostasy. On this flight, we see how these letters uniquely encourage us as we live in conflict with our culture, giving us incentive for holy living as we look forward to Jesus' second coming.
This teaching is from our series The Bible from 30,000 Feet - 2018 with Skip Heitzig from Calvary Church.
I found Skip in late January this year and he has expounded the entire Bible for me so far. There are still a few books to go. Praise GOD for UA-cam and MP3’s…etc Also, I recently introduced him to my son (19) and now he loves discussing whatever teaching he has listened to. Thank you for fanning our flames. I love listening to Skip. I especially love the history he gives that is behind each book of the Bible. It gives life and understanding to scriptures, so thank you for doing that. I do use the Interlinear to cross reference Bible scriptures. So, I looked at 2 Peter 3:16 in the Interlinear, and the way I understand it, is that the people were twisting not only what Paul wrote to them about scriptures, but also the rest of the scriptures(the Holy Word of God). So, I don't think that Paul's letters were considered scriptures at that time as you indicated in your teaching. Anyway, thank you Skip for your teaching.
Of all the popular (yet very confusing) leaders, and mega churches out there, thank you GOD for Calvary Church and Skip Heitzig. My guidance-scripture in listening to anything that has to do with Christ, The Bible and Preaching is 1 Thessalonians 5:21 "Test all things, hold fast what is good". This sermon was a tough one to swallow - because it was raw and to the core, unapologetic. But first and foremost it was sound teaching.
I am completely addicted to The Bible from 30000 feet. The teaching of The Word of God has strengthened, encouraged and blessed me. I have got loads of my friends addicted as well😀 Thank you to Pastor Skip

Something just dawned on me. If Peter is calling Rome Babylon, then in Revelation the term mystery Babylon could mean the Vatican.
Peter was writing to Jewish believers so how does that crossover to Gentiles?
Did Jesus say he was the only way to heaven or did he say he was the only way to the Father?
I thought I left the light on in the bedroom but it was the hot sun shining through the. Wish I could dim the sun to a pleasantly cool light. The big light bulb in the galaxy.
