i don't understand the fascination with that thing. Technically, it's not even legal under the vast majority of kickboxing AND Muay Thai rules, but no one ever says anything for soem reason.
to me it is impressive because that mive has so much natural momentum that to be accurate with it so it hits the head but also controlled enough that it doesnt hurt the other person takes a lot of skill. or it looks like it does to me. i dont even mess with that cartwheel kind of shit lol i just stick with the basics. i didnt know it was illegal. is it a banned move or does it break some other rule like the hand touching the ground or what?
the second one you said, if a fighter touches the ground with a glove or knee or basically anything that isn't the feet, he's considered on the ground (either by slip or knockdown) and the fight is supposed to be halted. I would very well hope they wouldn't let him do that if it was explicitly banned, that'd be absurd, but even as it is now it's weird. What if he KOs someone with it and the guy issues a formal complaint? Btw, he has actually KO'd several people in sparring with this very move, which isn't exactly a nice thing to do.
not sure what your point is Stone High. We all know he's used it. That's not the discussione, the discussion is whether he should be doing it when it's not actually legal under most competition rules; certainly not under muay thai rules, you can find an article from Sylvie von Duuglas-Ittu which mensions this, and she's probably the most knowledgable in the west of actual thai rules, both written and unwritten. However you might say that depending on the particular kickboxing league rules wording, it may be a grey area (like GLORY rules).
The way he throws a leg/body kick then feints pulling his leg back, only to rechamber it for a push kick is fucking beautiful and I'm going to start practicing it right now.
Love the video, Saenchai just clicks with the reason why I love this sport, he's real femur, and the arsenal of the moves he pulls out is incredible, they don't teach it anywhere.
It depends on skill level too I think. The other guys haven't mastered their stance and techniques enough to throw them while totally relaxed like Saenchai does. So they end up really stiff and telegraphing their kicks that Saenchai can read a mile away. The last guy had better skill and control so he was able to relax and just play lightly with Saenchai.
