Any suggestions for a phone case for the handle bar?

    • @johntapley2549
      @johntapley2549 7 місяців тому +1

I use an Ultimate Addon case mounted on the bars. I plan routes on Tomtom's MyDrive app on my PC or tablet. On the phone I use TomTom's GoRide app which syncs with MyDrive and load my route. I can then choose how twisty I want my ride. Phone is Bluetoothed to my Transalp and headset. Using MyDrive is optional, it just makes route planning easier on a bigger screen. Both apps are free.

I got a Transalp in December 2023 and love it so far. I have had a Yamaha Vmax 1200 since 2009 and also have a KLR(or two, long story). I'm thinking the TA will replace the Vmax and at least one of the KLRs. I live in Canada so have only had now about 4 days that I could ride the TA this year but by next weekend the high is like -10c again so it might be a bit more time before I can get much riding in. Hopeful that my crash bars and skid plate show up by next weekend so they'll be ready for the warmer temperature to come by hopefully April

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I have what Honda calls the “Red Prominence Candy” model. 52.000Km on it and going strong and smooth as ever. My daily commuter, weekend rider and a trip across Europe and the Balkans with luggage and a pillion without a single problem. Couldn’t be happier, I plan to ride the thing while it has any life left in it (which judging by the accounts I read, will be veeery long). If you ever decide to come ride in the Canary Islands give me a shout, beers on me… ;-)

I have a Transalp, which I have had for a month now. Due to your video’s, I will be getting the wind deflectors. I purchased a windscreen mount for my Tom Tom Rider. • @silverfoxinoz

My Transalp is the best of all worlds. The answer to your navigation tangles is a Garmin XT2 mounted over the bike display on an SW Motech GPS bracket that bolts to the dash (NOT the windscreen). The Garmin Tread phone app lets you plan a tour and then syncs it to the Garmin. Mobile phones are not for real time navigation, should be in your jacket in case you come off and need to call help. They’re also hard to see and in summer can overheat and shut down.
The investment is well worth it.
    Happy riding!

6:31 man we had a telepathy moment here 😂 I was just writing to you: I can’t resist asking motorcycle reviewers what’s your personal ride and why did you choose it❓To answer your question, my current ride is BMW 1250 GS after a few years with BMW 750 GS. My riding journey began in the late '90s with a Yamaha RX-135. Since then I have tried quite a few other bikes. ➡ Now your turn ⬅

Hi Alex 😊 Thank you very much for your comment.
It is so much better with the visor up 😂 Much less noise.
I ride a Honda Transalp XL 750 and I absolutely love it. I find the adventure style seating position very comfortable and need a larger bike due to how tall I am (I’m just under 6’3).
However I didn’t think a 1000+ cc bike was needed for most of my riding. I wanted a high level of wind protection and the Transalp is perfect! Ticks every box for me 😊
I am a huge fan of the GS 😊 I learn on a 750 GS and very nearly purchased an 850. What has been your favourite bike? I presume the GS? 😊

Interesting! Thanks for sharing. The Transalp seems to have won many fans over the years. Yamaha always offers great advantages. Since I'm more into adventure/touring bikes, I tried the Tracer, but it didn't quite work for me despite its great engine. For your next ride, since you're tall, the BMW 850 GS is a great option. It has most of what the 1250 GS offers but in a lighter package. Yes, I prefer the GS so far, although this may change in the future.

      @@TyresNTorque
I tried the Tracer 9 which has a slightly different engine than the one in 900. I thought I would get a reliable bike while saving quite a bit (in the Netherlands), but to my taste it had a dull personality, and it felt too small (I'm also tall: 6'4).
You have every point to be happy with the Translap. A neighbor and friend of mine has as it and he won't change it for anything.
I'm a one-bike person and I use my bike for cross-country travel. If I had the capacity and space for two bikes I would gladly consider a Translap.
As alternative to the GS, I think I would first consider Triumph Tiger 1200 GT, then the KTM 1290 Super Adventure.
