Why I No Longer Use A Tripod... Most of the time!

- After a couple of years using the micro four-thirds system it's become apparent to me that I use a tripod on very special occasions these days - and they are few and far between!
The raw ability that the OM-1 has given me to produce great hand held shots in most conditions and at ridiculously long shutter speeds means I now very rarely have a need to pop the camera on a tripod and that has given me more freedom to explore and enjoy my photography.
So, come join me for a wander where I'm playing with Live-ND shooting above a second at Spurn Point and get some tips and pointers along the way!
If you're interested in joining me on a personalised 1 to 1 workshop or photo walk, get in touch at leighw.photos/... and we'll sort something out. All abilities, both physical and photography wise are accounted for - and various locations around the UK are available.
If you enjoyed this video though, please do give it a thumbs up and leave a comment below with your thoughts - I'll be sure to read them all and I'll respond to as many as I can!

Well done on the handheld shot,
Thank you Andrew!
Well, you are right the stabilisation of the om-1 is amazing and when used with a pro lens that it can sync with, you get even better incredible results. 👍😎
It's some kind of black magic how good it is! Never thought I'd be able to get hand held night shots with a great ratio of keepers but then the OM-1 came along and proved me wrong!
You're convincing me more and more to switch systems Leigh 🤣🤣
I couldn't possibly comment 😂
I was wondering if you used the Handheld Assist. Just two nights ago I went down to the beach with a small tripod to take pictures of the pier at 3:00 a.m. under a full moon. I never used the tripod at all.
Using that and sync is is a complete game changer isn't it?
It's worth remembering that Olympus included sensor stabilization for ages, even in low-end models - while other manufacturers kept gaslighting us that lens stabilization is enough. Being them, it must feel really crappy to see all your ideas outright stolen by the competition.
It always makes me smile when they go all Apple on things and claim they've invented what's been around for years!
