Yeah! Sirius’s perspective is even better (in my opinion). Much more details. Especially towards the end. The questions you have right now are going te be answered in his perspective. And the author of the sirius’s perspective is such a good writer!

“so i’m reading in the sunlight today to lower the chances of self harm!” lmao i read atyd for the first time a few weeks ago and this perfectly encapsulates my feelings during this whole thing
Ferox scenes got me giggling and kicking my feet fr bc it's such a shaping moment to have a crush on a teacher and we never got that in HP (except for Hermione and Lockhart). I loved all of the original characters in this. Even the evil ones like Lidia were very well written. But ofc GRANT is the highlight, the sunshine, my son. There's a 2 chapter epilogue showing his life after Remus death and it made me so happy for him. I also wanted a lot more from the ending, like what was it like when Sirius got locked in the house he was abused as a child (after YEARS in Azkaban), while Remus had to go back to werewolf missions under Dumbledore orders. Oooof the heartbreak 😢 but I guess the author wanted to be done with this fic. I can only imagine how much time it took her.
I loved getting to relive reading this fanfic through your reactions. I completely agree that it needed about 100,000 more words. I understand the author not wanting to rewrite canon scenes BUT I genuinely think it would have added so much to see remus' perspective of seeing harry for the first time once he was grown and painstakingly looked and acted just like his parents.
I couldnt agree more about the ending! When I was reading it for the first time I wasn't paying attention to what chapter I was on and was shocked when it ended!
It's fan fiction so I know the author doesn't owe anyone anything but I also figured after spending so much time writing it, the ending would've received a bit more attention. idk
A Wolfstar fanfic that is really popular and really good is “The Cadence of part time poets”. They are muggle, have a band and it’s really funny. Maybe the funniest fanfic I’ve ever read. Your reactions were sooo relatable I hope you read it

I found ATYD during covid after just finishing Harry Potter for the first time 3 months before and i can honestly say ATYD is the best stroy i have ever encountered, be it books or movies i have watched in my life. Regulus is a good guy in the end truly. It’s cannon in Harry Potter that he is a good guy. However, if you want to see more Regulus and also feel completely emotionally destroyed like with ATYD, Read Art Heist Baby or Crimson Rivers or if you want something more heart warming, read Just Lovers
I would recommend to read “Choices” first. Because I feel like, if you’re new to a Marauders’ character’s story (especially one like Regulus), you should start with a more canon compliant fic. If you read Choices first and only then Crimson Rivers, than CR just hurts even more because you know the characters already (through the “original” version of their story), and also, you have actually already seen the universe in which they are, in fact, a great, big tragedy (in the most extreme way ever).
If you're taking recommendations I'd love to see you read Crimson Rivers. For me it was on the same level if not better/more emotionally gruelling than ATYD. Its long but beautifully descriptively written with of course a lot of sad moments but there's surprisingly many funny and lighthearted scenes in between.
You should read the Sirius POv! It is from another author but is amazingly written and almost feels like another fanfic, You would be heartbroken since the start with the Black Family dynamics.

I found atyd way too late, but I finished reading it a day ago and holy shit. I'm well out of my harry potter phase but this fanfic made me wish that I could relive reading it over and over and over again. Atyd decided my emotional state for that week and im currently reading the sirius pov so guess what my emotion are like right now haha....
First thing to remember about reading fanfiction is that YOUR emotional stability does not matter to the authors. We derive joy from your panic-filled comments. It brings me indescribable happiness when I see someone absolutely flipping their shit about a cliffhanger or whatever. We don't give a shit about your emotional stability. We exist only to cause pain and fear and happiness with no regard for how quickly people rocket between those emotions.
This was great. I’m new to your videos but I’m going to assume this was your by-and-large introduction to marauders fanon. It was mine too (although I was already aware of wolfstar, and seeing you realize real-time what the ship is was hilarious). I just finished my first full reread of ATYD since I first read it in 2020 and I can definitely say that its nostalgia element does not fade. I understand your desire for a more cohesive and drawn-out ending, but I think it was mostly to do with MsKingBean’s reluctance to do any canon rewrites (which, as you said, is still a different POV, but in fanfiction terms a “canon rewrite” is just any canonical scene written over again from any POV). I think reading the Christmas tapes, Out of the Blue, etc, will give you a better sense of closure. Either way, this was a super entertaining reaction video! I’m glad you liked the fic.
If you've read ATYD and HAVEN'T read "Out of the blue" also by Mskingbean89 then PLEASE READ IT. Its a continuation of ATYD, It's only 2 chapters and it gave me closure that the original didn't. PLEASE I am not being dramatic, it is EVERYTHING (I ugly cried)
It was crazy to watch you react exactly as I did for every chapter of this rollercoaster of a fic ! It felt like reading it for the first time again, so for that thank you for posting this and taking us with you on this journey !
You should read “choices” by Messermoon. Your reaction to Regulus broke my heart!!! For me, ATYD and Choices are the two canon compliant fics that are the base for every other story with these characters. These fics, together, introduce to you the characters and events of the Marauders’ era in the best way, and only once you read these two you can start to move to au’s (my recommendation is Crimson Rivers!!!). Hope you enjoy your time inside the emotional rollercoaster that is the Marauders fandom!!🤭🤭🤭
What you said at the beginning about Peter wrongly chosen to be in Gryffindor makes me laugh cause all the House traits are neutral, and by betraying his best friends and sending them to their deaths and switching sides was the boldest thing Peter Pettigrew ever did.
You need to read the epilogue!! The author wrote it later... “Out of the Blue” it's named and it happens 20 years later from Grant's perspective 😭 that chapter will break you, crush you and heal you all at the same time 😭🤌🏻
Ok I absolutely LOVED watching your reaction to this whole story!!! Let me also say that it’s cool to have perspective from another guy 🙂 I LOVE ATYD, and I recently just finished reading Sirius’s perspective. Both versions just crush the soul, yet they are so beautiful and provide ultimate nostalgia. Also, you’re hilarious!!!
Im not gonna watch all of this because im only 1/3 into the book. But the first part of this is is so spot on. Feeling all this! “God i love this f-ing book” Yep!
fully agree with your thoughts at the end! i finished it last night and i was soooo deeply disappointed we got no scenes from the 3rd book. your take on “you’re not rewriting scenes because it’s from remus’ pov” was exactly mine too. we lost out on a tonnnnn of emotional impact at the end which took me out of it and made me less invested by the end which was unfortunate
you should read the sirius perspective! I promise that rereading is equally if not more entertaining, and the auther carries on after where ATYD finishes and we actually follow sirius through prisoner of Azkaban! I promise its worth it!!
Atyd is truly remarkable but I think because it's canon compliant the ending just doesn't work for me? Like remus and sirius are tragic figures in Harry's story but their own story in atyd isn't a tragedy on like a genre level its a coming of age story and a war story and those don't usually have tragic endings I guess
I was so mad at the ending of AtYD, because I don't think Remus makes sense the way he was written for all that previous work. Like, *that* Remus would move mountains, tear himself apart to get to Sirius in Azkaban. There's no way he thinks Sirius did it on purpose, even if he thinks he's the one that gave up the secret. I know she set it up with young Remus hiding from his problems, I just don't think he'd hide for THIRTEEN YEARS with no follow-up. The ending was rushed and I don't think fit with the characters she wrote, but the rest was such gold, it can be forgiven.
You could use a palate cleanser after this heavy emotional rollercoaster… I would highly recommend Draco Malfoy and the Mortifying Ordeal of Being in Love. Excellent immersive writing like ATYD and Manacled, but instead of going to the rope store you’ll just be beaming. It’s a fun, romantic, action-packed adventure. Thank you for documenting your journey, that was so fun to watch and remember how I felt reading ATYD!
This fic is so sad i can't😭 i actually dnfed at about 100 chapters because i knew i couldn't take the ending 😭lmao im kinda living vicariously though you to find out what happens less painfully
Ok, I finally finished atyd and can watch your video. I agree! I get not wanting to rewrite the books, but you need to address certain elements of the story. Like, I was very disappointed that we didn’t get at least a small chapter on when Sirius died and Remus’ grief, and how that lead to him getting together with Tonks. The ending is very anticlimactic. I have 2 versions of the fic and had to go to my other version bc I was like that’s it?!?! But no, we got out of the blue with Grant and Teddy and that was a much better ending, still not satisfying, but definitely better. Alright. I will torture myself some more and read Manacled next.
46 seconds in and I got a comment already.. Addressing Peter being in gryffindor: I think a big thing is that students get placed in houses based on what they value (or atleast I headcanon it that way!) So it doesn't mean students in gryffindor are always brave, or ravenclaws always studious, or hufflepuffs always loyal, or slytherins always.. villains (slytherin is an iffy one), and Peter clearly values bravery, as the 'brave ones are always who he hides behind. Typing this on mobile so excuse the formatting, lol
I definitely definitely definitely recommend Sirius Pov because there's moments from POA in it (no spoilers) it's really great seeing like both perspectives from each side of the story and I definitely had the same reaction to the first kiss and if you are new to the marauders fandom let me just say Welcome and sorry for the pain but there's so many brilliant ff but definitely read Sirius Pov
i am so super late to this!! but i found a canon compliant dorlene (dorcas/marlene) that really went in on the death scenes and it was something i definitely felt was lacking in ATYD
6:30 I had to take breaks too! ❤❤ I relate… in fact I still have 200 pages left, I’m scared cause ewe all know what happens.. ok gonna try to finish tonight before finishing this video 😂😂😂😂😂 Edit: ok done, yeah I guess ending was rushed but enjoyable, and heartbreaking 💔
I'm happy you're happy they're happy. I didn't want to have to initiate a wellness check if it turned into another Manacled situation. I do have to ask if you chose to wear that green waterproof sweater thing bc u were expecting the waterworks, or just a happy coincidence you didn't soak through another T? I'm relieved you made it-- great job as always, thanks for the reactions.
i need u to read sirius' pov lmaooooo its literally even sadder than thissss and i. literally. died. so. many. times 💀 but we do get the reunion between wolfstar and james parents death and everything in detail
I feel you so much about the ending. I actually took a break like when there was maybe 20% of the book left because i thought it would be too much emotionally and then it was just not. It was like really good other wise but once the potters died it felt like a bit rushed and so many important details were left unmentioined. It lacked the emotion load in the end that I anticipated. It was really good but yeah the ending could have been a lot better.
Regulus is a shithead but he wouldn’t really be if it was his pov because from outside he is not a very interesting character but once you get all the details from him he is one of the most interesting characters in there. And the perfect description for him is that he is the gray character. Like yeah he will do something good but he doesn’t have a problem killing a lot of people in the process
You need to read Choices by Messermoon. Idk how but that hurt like twice as bad. I didn't even think that was possible. Most beautiful and hurtful thing I have ever read
If you liked this, I would definitely recommend The Cadence of Part-time Poets by motswolo. It's a muggle au, so there's no magic but the writing is phenomenal. It's pretty similar to ATYD and I think you'd like it :)
“James wants Lily, Lily wants Remus, Remus wants Sirius, and Sirius… wants to not be a Black” is the most accurate atyd summary I’ve ever heard 😭😭
I CAME HERE TO SAY EXACTLY THAT!!!
“i know theres a Sirius POV of this… and that is a fkn warcrime” LMFAOOOO REAL
6:01 MY BOY REGULUS IS NOT A BAD GUY (he is but we don’t talk about it)
He isn't.. he really isn't. Read Meetings that start in the dark till some Point it's canon suitable and Pictures Regulus really good

This fic is so sad i can't😭 i actually dnfed at about 100 chapters because i knew i couldn't take the ending 😭lmao im kinda living vicariously though you to find out what happens less painfully
Read Crimson rivers you will love it! Such a happy story
Have you read "Out of the Blue"? It's about what happens to Grant after the Harry Potter books and everything.
im currently reading sirius pov
and choises by messurmoon and wow are they bleeding together
using this as motivation to read past year seven because im avoiding the war
You made me literally laugh cry for half an hour getting to relive my first read through of this book
It’s almost like the books were written by a trout with fingers who didn’t really think when she decided to base houses on personality traits
YOU HAVE TO READ SIRIUS’S POV! I STRONGLY RECOMMEND IT🔥🔥🔥
I definitely definitely definitely recommend Sirius Pov because there's moments from POA in it (no spoilers) it's really great seeing like both perspectives from each side of the story and I definitely had the same reaction to the first kiss and if you are new to the marauders fandom let me just say Welcome and sorry for the pain but there's so many brilliant ff but definitely read Sirius Pov
Where can i read his POV?
You have to read sirius pov now!
i am so super late to this!! but i found a canon compliant dorlene (dorcas/marlene) that really went in on the death scenes and it was something i definitely felt was lacking in ATYD
I love your live reactions vids on TT and again on here!
this fixed all my mental illnesses. please please read sirius’ perspective!!
also would LOVE to see a video like this on ‘crimson rivers’
this video is such a mood
“what about me tho?” “didn’t think about me for a fucking second”
6:30 I had to take breaks too! ❤❤ I relate… in fact I still have 200 pages left, I’m scared cause ewe all know what happens.. ok gonna try to finish tonight before finishing this video 😂😂😂😂😂
Edit: ok done, yeah I guess ending was rushed but enjoyable, and heartbreaking 💔
YOU HAVE TO READ SIRIUS’ PERSPECTIVE
Okay so I recommend art hiest baby , just brothers , just lovers and crimson Rivers to get into the fandom( the last one is a hunger games au )
these comments are so good, dude, thanks for recording
i need u to read sirius' pov lmaooooo its literally even sadder than thissss and i. literally. died. so. many. times 💀 but we do get the reunion between wolfstar and james parents death and everything in detail
You know what got me... knowing that Sirius dies right after
If you liked this, I would definitely recommend The Cadence of Part-time Poets by motswolo. It's a muggle au, so there's no magic but the writing is phenomenal. It's pretty similar to ATYD and I think you'd like it :)
i'm 100% gonna need an Art Heist, Baby! vlog of a similar vibe because if ATYD broke you i don't know if you'll come out of that one alive
