I had never heard of this song until my father introduced it to me. He was a bad man for so long and he used this song to apologize and to tell me he was changing. I didnt fully believe him until he passed away on July 31st 2019. I finally realised that he had been sober from drugs for almost five years while I was in denial and kept ignoring him. I had only just started telling him I loved him a few months before he passed. My uncle told me that when he passed the last thing anyone told him was that "Kyra loves you, she couldn't be here but she loves you." And then he flatlined. I was about four hours away and wouldn't have gotten there in time. He died at 4:50 pm. I had just finished eating dinner at the foster placement I was in. So I listen to this song in remembrance of him.

My dad, growing up, was not the best guy. I was unplanned, and he didn't love me as much as he should've growing up. I had never heard of this song until my father introduced it to me. He was a bad man for so long and he used this song to apologize and to tell me he was changing. I didnt fully believe him until he passed away on July 31st 2019. I finally realised that he had been sober from drugs for almost five years while I was in denial and kept ignoring him. I had only just started telling him I loved him a few months before he passed. My uncle told me that when he passed the last thing anyone told him was that "Kyra loves you, she couldn't be here but she loves you." And then he flatlined. I was about four hours away and wouldn't have gotten there in time. He died at 4:50 pm. I had just finished eating dinner at the foster placement I was in. So I listen to this song in remembrance of him.

My dad, growing up, was not the best guy. I was unplanned, and he didn't love me as much as he should've growing up. That's when I knew he did truly care for me. I don't think we got out of that hug for a good while. It was the first time I'd see him cry. We are best buds now, and he's the most hardworking and caring man I've ever come to know. I'm so thankful that he's my dad. Sure we have our rough days and our share of arguments, but we never stop loving each other now.

This song is one of my mother's favorite songs and it's also a part of my childhood. I don't know why, but everytime I heard this song, I cry.
I wonder if Hoobastank knew when they recorded this song that they were literally recording Magic. it is so very rare for a song to have so much emotion. Unlike alot of heartbreak songs this one is apologetic from the point of view of someone who has discovered their own flaws and the wonders of who they lost due to their own problems. After my father committed suicide I heard this song and for a moment I wished that I could have heard words like this from him.
