    Thanks for that great review. I was waiting for your review before I installed it in my car. you lost me at it needs to be plugged in lol. I enjoy the native system as well. But I do have a question for you. the drive mode button. Do you know of a way to get it to select a mode and stay in that mode? I like the eco setting but sometimes I forget to hit it when I get in the car. I have a 16 but I believe that button is the same on your car.

      yes, both vehicles are exactly the same. And, unfortunately, there's no way to keep a drive mode selected once the vehicle has been turned off. What bothers me about that is that the "Auto Hold" button also has to be pressed each and every time you turn on the car....and because I come from Mercedes, I'm used to having that feature as it has been 7 years of me using it daily. So sometimes I let go of the brake petal at a traffic light and quickly have to step on it again because it starts rolling forward because I forgot to press the button

    Excellent review on the android auto connect. I will be purchasing a genesis in the up coming weeks. I know that you've had your Genesis for awhile. Can you please do a long term update? Ride, cabin noise, the Lexicon sound system, the durability of the seats, and any imperfections that have come up. Etc...
    I would appreciate it. Thanks!

      I've had my genesis for 4 months now. So far I'm loving it. I'm not enjoying the gas mileage. I went from a sonata to this. Yes it's a major upgrade but my 12 sonata got 38-40 mpg on the highway. be able to afford the gas if you get it. sound system depends on what type of music you enjoy. the lexicon system sounds amazing. But it has NO BASS. I mean none. I had to upgrade mine. but again I grew up on booty music lol.
      the seats are very comfy and the ride of the car is very very smooth. Again my opinion. I've had my car 3 months (not 4 like previously stated above ) and I have 9k miles on it. And I've loved every minute of it. I'm hoping I feel this way after a year. my only gripes with the car would be the no bass in the sound system, the gas milage, having to hit the eco button every time I get into the car. And I'd say no beeping when backing up with the signature class (that's the model I have). hope that answers some of the questions from another genesis owners point of view.

      Yes this was very helpful. I truly appreciate you taking time to answer some of my concerns.

      I'm getting close to a year with my Genesis now and this has been a significantly better ownership experience than when I was with Mercedes-Benz, particularly the E class. The interior has held up very nicely and still smells brand new, the leather feels great and other interior accents haven't faded away because of the regular wear. I have driven this car close to 20k miles, and I have nothing but positive things to say about it. In regards the gas mileage, it has performed better than all the E classes (I managed a 20mpg on good days out of the 2014 E350 but a 19mpg on the older ones) as I am continously getting a solid 23 mpg per average WEEKLY drive (some weeks I average 25mpg)....so where I come from, this is a gift from heaven to me. I love the sound system now, before I complained about the lack of bass, which I made apparent in my original review three months after I purchased the Genesis....now I love it and how crisp it is....I guess there was an adjustment period?
      But you know, typing all of this still leaves a bunch of stuff I wanted to say out.....so maybe I should do a long term review of the Genesis again.

    thanks antonio for that great review, could I get direct link for software of android auto please because I couldn't get it from the Internet

  • @double2706

    Antonio what do you think of the gas mileage after owning it a year now? I commute to work 40 miles each way pretty much all highway though. so I can get 29mpg out of it. But I'm used to the sonatas 40mpg highway. So maybe I was spoiled lol. And sucks they won't include the valet service for the 15 or 16 genesis cars. that would be awesome to have it picked up and get the work done and then dropped back off.

    • @robertschulz3584

      so I do 66 miles daily 5 days a week....and I average between 24 and 25 in mixed driving. Yes, you're spoiled because I come from the lower end of MPGs (18 or 19...sometimes 20 if every traffic light was green lol) and I'm obviously very happy because this is a significant increment in efficiency for me. So, I'd say, it will be an impact for you.....and no, even in highway you won't reach 29mpg unless you do a constant 55 or maybe 60...after that, it starts to go down....so if you do switch, prepare to fill up more often. Personally, I fill up once a week exactly (every Friday to be precise) at $40 going to the Sams Club Gas station, so to me, this car has been a win all around .......but if I was getting 40mpg and then go to mid 20s I'd be pist....but you do get much more luxury, tech and comfort

    I have to say, that you've provided more information in your short review than most any other reviewers that get paid big $$$ for it. Thank you. You've provided gas mileage, real world comparisons, and just honest experience with it. In fact, in the comments, you've genuinely assisted me further with other areas of concern. Thank you again! I do have one small gripe...given that this was my first review I've seen of yours, I did get quite dizzy with the camera shake and pretty much had to look away from the video most of the time. If you're so inclined for your future reviews, please hold the camera steady and not move it around so quickly...All-in-all I appreciate your honest efforts!!!

    Since The phone is required to be connected to the USB port in the car, your phone will not charge properly. If anything, it will drain, unless you don't interact with your phone at all. In that case, the phones charge will pretty much stay around the percentage you started off with, maybe charge a few percentages up. The USB was built with charging in mind.

    Nice review. I agree with you about the shortcomings of android auto. But, how much a month do you pay for BlueLink and XM Traffic? It is a value issue for me as I rarely need NAV as I know where I am going.
    I also added Amazon Music to my AA.

    Antonio, thank you for the review and your other video on how to install it. I believe you can connect via blue tooth now but, as you stated, I don't see anything that Android Auto does better than the integrated system. Thanks again.

    the genesis g80 and g90 are getting amazon alexa support, its pretty cool, not a necessity but google it, they have a video where it can turn on and off the car set the ac and lock, and unlock and beep the horn / lights

    this was a fantastic review - I am soooo disappointed. I was getting ready to secure a 2016 Genesis 3.8 with 7 inch screen tomorrow. I was looking only at 7 inch screen because that is the only one that works with AA.

      Well....I still use Android Auto when I'm having a texting frenzy with someone and I must drive somewhere without leaving the conversation hanging....so that's when I plug my phone in and voice type away. However, situations like that are the only time when I use it.... I will admit that music does sound better when plugged in than through Bluetooth because, well, it's plugged in and not being streamed.
      Other than that, Android Auto is not that good at recognizing speech when highway driving (at least not on these shitty Louisiana highways) The perfect example for this happened this morning when I requested to send a message, dictated the message and Google read something completely absurd back to me like "the chicken is canning a turkey" when in reality I had said something like "Well she can't seem to turn the key"....then Google asked me if I wanted to send the message or change it, to which I said "change it" and it just kept on repeating the same question over and over and over again.....until I unplugged the phone (very angry if I may add), screamed for two seconds, and proceeded to use the speech to text feature in my phone to send said text. Though I haven't had this sitcom situation when driving around town, which Google does a great job at sending and reading messages

      The other thing you mentioned was the lack of integration. The point you made about not seeing the directions in the dash was not something I thought about when test driving. I'm wondering if there is a different experience with Android auto being a "native" option in some vehicles listed in the official android auto website vs being a software update like it was with Genesis.

      I've also been on the fence simply waiting for the brand switch. I read some people have difficulty with the Genesis connect app. Is that your experience as well? Also, is there any Hyundai branding you come in contact with right now im not thinking about? At the risk of sounding arrogant, I'll happily wait for the g80 and pay more if it means I never come across hyundai branding

    • @robertschulz3584
      @robertschulz3584  8 років тому +1

      +David A. Rambo In regards the lack of integration of Android Auto in the dash, it's the same for every car. Is not an upgrade issue but a design issue as the binnacle and the infotainment system are two different computers that communicate with each other. With that said, I believe that if these two screens exchange information, it would have been nice to have Google maybe go the extra mile and share some info as well? In regards the badging, I hear you, I really do. Being a Benz snub myself I really had a hard time making "hyundai " disappear off my car, but you know what? owning this car has been such a pleasure that I don't give a fuck anymore. I much rather own a hyundai I love than a Benz I was disillusioned with.
      lastly, I've never had any issues with the Genesis app, in fact, I just used it to remote start my car as I typed this.

    • @double2706
      @double2706 8 років тому

      I have the 16 and the only badging I can see is on the windows themselves. the glass says hyundai on it.
