I use a pontoon boat for fishing all the time. You would be surprised how great it is. You can get up and walk around to stretch. You can get into some pretty tight and shallow places. I have a nice BBQ on mine. Also it carries more people which is great. Also, when you’re done fishing you can go swimming or BBQ or as we do, pop up a folding table and play cards and eat. Heck we’ve even put on some music and danced! lol. We’ve also slept in sleeping bags on it. What I’m getting at is that the pontoon boat is much more versatile than my last fishing boat, and it was cheaper.
I think I would much rather have a Tracker than the Harris. I can’t afford a Bennington so it’s not really in the race I guess. Dang after seeing the underside that’s not just a Harris. That’s a Kamala Harris !!! Lol
one thing I have a problem with is the gate locations. I do not see one on the right side. When the boat is on the lift it is too hard to get to gate on front. And my lift puts the right side to the dock. It would nice in a one man launch if I could release the boat and and get right into the control seat.
Ill give Bennington this, their boats are very nice, but this was with one boat model. Is this category Bennington wins but overall if i was looking for a full sized pontoon I’d stick to Harris any day
Marine plywood will last decades and most pontoon boats are owned 10 years on average. And people commenting seem to miss some of the nuances; like painted welds on the Harris vs anodized welds on the Bennington. Just wait a few years when you see those Harris welds start to rust and you'll "get it"...and the deck attaching hardware and a bunch of other noted features like the quality of the railing. Welll worth the price difference for the Bennington.
Is that bare plywood under both of those boats? Is it even treated? Water is constantly hitting the bottom of these boats. And the best idea they can come up with is plywood?
I love those pontoons....But my worry is, how long will any of that upholstery last down here in Florida, getting baked by the sun, every day? I've got a Grady White....I take all the cushions out when it's not in use. Also...is all the Bennington hardware, fasteners, stainless?
this is the same as comparing a glock to a highpoint, they both do the very exact thing and both do it well except one is a lil prettier and cost a lot more....
James Carl It was a question and I gave you the answer . You have 2 choices , educate yourself or swallow the shit somebody is selling you . Guess which one works in your favor !
My question is, why is all the seating area made of vinyl and foam? Why not solid plastic and then cushion that could be removed. I have to clean my seats every spring as mould and mildew develop over the winter. I better design and material needs to be developed ... too many things that can rot on quite an expensive investment. Just saying ...
Wood floor is that 50 pounds every 4 ft by 8 ft just in wood no carpet or screws or in laymen terms 10 hp extra on motor size just to push the plywood floor . And it will rot before the aluminum side will breaKdown

Plywood exposed like that won't last very long or will it? Please let me know.
I have a 2002 pontoon and we just redone the plywood floor it was getting spongy so we redid it they last a long time this boat was kept out side but was covered most of the time when not in use.

Very confusing video Ex: No snaps....how do you secure a cover? Comparison pics were not clear as to what we were being shown......not a good sales presentation
Bennington is a nice boat but I think you’re missing the point. Your better off just talking about your boat. Let us decide. I went to both dealers and I found out that the Harris Sunliner Tri-toon was the best boat for my family. Better quality when comparing apples to apples.
Im currently shopping and they are priced the same as the Bentleys in my area but start off with a Coast Guard kit and a few other things that definitely makes it worth it.
I agree that wood is not the best. However they do compress treatments on the ply wood. Through Bennington it is a life time warranty. Also if you want to ever change the decking it is much easier than aluminum decking.
That guy said very professional...who filmed this? Must have went down to the local retirement home and picked the one with the least amount of drool. Learn the difference between profile and landscape. A 6 year old could have done better. Thanks for the information though.
ok SO now lets take a look at the bennington, it has a real nasty plywood floor underneath that is not even epoxy coated to keep out any water intrusion so this will naturally rot away pretty quick leaving you to have to completely strip the boat of all furniture to replace this crap. very poor looking structure underneath. give a false sense of class looking at it from above... the Bimini shake on both boats was terrible, but the bennington easy disconnect is actually a bad design flaw, it would fall to bits in choppy rough conditions and they can creep up on you. . you say bow how big the bennington is inside and give the length inside. but what about its size outsize ? you call it a 16sl, but how long is it realy ? its 17.42ft long not 16 like suggested.... and what is the price of the bennington compared to the cheaper Harris boat your next to ? what is the thickness of the hull tubes not just diameter ? what is the max hp of both boats and what is the weight of each boat ? and I think you need to go buy a tape measure as no way on earth that bimini top is 10ft long. to be honest the Harris has a much nicer safer front deck too.. and what about where the motor attaches too, lets see a bit more of the structure of this and exactly what crap grade of aluminium are you using on this ? pontoons do look nice but they are a weird thing as most of the material to make them is very poor... take off the fancy furniture and your left with a aluminium raft made from pretty poor grade material and rubbish cheapo plywood..... show the price of both boats if going to compare them.. like comparing a rolls Royce to a Lada...
So 18 .000 for one and 18.500 for the other and they use cheap shit wood unprotected Under the boat sorry no fucken way I would part with that kind of money for that

Great video comparision ! Question why us the under side plywood not painted ?
It’s marine grade plywood, it doesn’t need to be painted.

exposed plywood floor and you're on water???.......what were they thinking!!!
yep crap idea. even with splashes it will soon soak up the water.
adds drag
If it floats flies or fornicates, you're better off leasing.
Can you use it in saltwater bays
Harris has many different seating combinations. So your comparison is not all true. You can add any feature including door space on console etc.
Where's the rod holders and live well

@@davidmorgan8612 true, but they are both still shit.
you should also put a thin layer of plastic between water and wood. I hate the fact its exposed.
NUNYA BIDNEZ
The thin layer of plastic would trap water and quickly lead to rot.
The exposed wood can dry out.
NUNYA BIDNEZ maybe spray a coat of marine paint on all the exposed wood
Treated wood will last 15 years or so..if you out plastic on it will rot in five years..
Can the floor be made lighter & not out of wood that will rot?
James Carl
