I’ve had a Domino cactus for 5 years before I discovered it blooms! Most beautiful flower I’ve seen in a long time! Now it gives me quite a few blooms every year.
Mine just bloom today and I'm so proud of myself, 2mnths ago I got it but it was brown and dry AF gave it some TLC and now I got a beautiful big red flowe.
This may be a silly question, but why would you want your cactus to bloom? I understand dragon fruit and prickly pear and the other fruit bearing cacti, but what's the purpose of a flower on San Pedro for example?
I live in southern Colorado and we have cacti that grow naturally outdoors in the open spaces. We also have some in our yard by our west facing front porch. They are so lovely when they bloom! Beautiful and adorable to see them make these colorful blooms in the spring. Gives local pollinators more flowers for food too.
