    Personally, I picked up the Rocksta as a kit and even when I got all the seperate pieces I only spent a total of about $80 shipped. The hard part was waiting until everything was in stock so I didn't pay a butt load for all the separate pieces to arrive. My biggest reason for the Rocksta was MOA(motor on axle) vs central transfer case and extra parts. Only thing I'm not happy with that I didn't expect was needing to address the shocks. Granted I assumed the tires were going to be slop, but they aren't horrible. Once I get it together I'll do a listing of spec's and then do a crawl video using my old trusty camera.

    I just the hbx in today. Excellent rig for the money. I did pay more than the amount you mentioned, but still a good enough deal, even though I paid about... 110 to 115 bucks. Still worth it at that.

    The basher seems like a smaller version of my Danchee crawler with the m.o.a. design. I just ordered the devastator. It looks so cool.

    I got my little HBX two days ago. Unfortunately, the wall wart didn't come with the North American adapter, but no worries. I saw that the ESC/rcvr module was good to 9 volts, so I performed some minor surgery on it and fitted it with a 250 mah 2S lipo. I cut the jack off the wall wart and modded it to fit my balance charger and the new battery's balance plug is accessible on the outside of the crawler. I get 20-25 minutes of very hard crawling with this battery. I was a bit concerned about the voltage going to the servos, but they seem to be doing just fine after ten cycles of running on the new battery. What a fun little rig! I also own a 1/10 Night Crawler and a 1/18 Temper, and I have just as much fun playing with the little fella as I do with the bigger crawlers :-)

      +Kilomikepapa thanks for that. I want to do that soon as well. I have so many of those small 2 cell lipos.
      Cheers and have a good day

    First of all thx for the comparison of the smale crawlers! I agree the situation with the battery body clips from RC Marty. Now I have my own basher at home and I build a special scaled track this week. I love the Basher Crawler. In Germany I paid arround 80€ on the EU ware house for that tiny Crawler. I think tha's still a good price for many hours of fun. ^^

    Thanks for the unbiased review. There's so much brand loyalty (and brand hatred, at times) in this hobby, it's hard to get the straight goods sometimes. Quality of the outside video especially, was great.

    you can cut the battery box in half to get rid of pins snagging on rocks and put battery on front servo

    The only thing I hate about the Basher Rocksta is the battery door placement and those tiny annoying body clips...
    Better tires would've been cool too but for the price asked, it's a fun little crawler.

      RC Tanks & Trucks 24/7 hey what charger are you using for the Basher Rocksta?

    • @hashtag8534
      @hashtag8534 6 років тому

      There are multiple motor options, including a high torque version, along with metal gears. You can upgrade the servos, pretty much anything. Plenty of aftermarket options for tires too.

    by the way i took all springs off my basher.for more centre of gravity and crawls loads better and weighted the front servo or stick battery on

    I have both, Rocksta is far more of a crawler, hands down. Articulation is more restricted with the HBX which is sad, it would otherwise be excellent. Both have fatal manufacture flaws: HBX will break ball joints guaranteed, and Rocksta will break gears guaranteed. HBX parts are available and can be 3D printed, Rocksta is out of stock, always, and you really can't make your own gears. So it's a tough decision which to get, but no question which one is a better crawler (sadly the one you can't get parts for).

    i would rather have the truck with 1 motor i own a basher the the front weels move be for the back weels move makeing it realy hard to keep both front and back weels on a rail as my track hase 3 rails and its a fail if your weels fall off the rails to make it more clear 2 tires on a rail in the air the other 2 tires on the ground

    I strip the main motor pinion on my Devastator every time i use it. Considering you have to buy an entire kit compromising of a gearbox casing and some other random parts just to get the one gear you need i can't justify the price and time to keep changing these pinions.
    Yesterday i found a youtube video of a guy who found a link to 3D print the pinion. Search youtube for the video with the link to Now, just to find someone with a decent 3D printer!

    • @RCTanksTrucks247
      @RCTanksTrucks247  4 роки тому

      Awesome, that saves buying them. Have you checked the mesh isn't too tight? It should not strip. Mine hasn't yet.

    • @izzzzzz6
      @izzzzzz6 4 роки тому

      @@RCTanksTrucks247 I can't adjust the mesh. I found a reason and a solution.
      This time with my new pinion ( the large plastic one that drives the drive shafts) It became stripped on the inside and was slipping over the hex pattern on the shaft. It is only designed to go on one way as there is a stop on one side to set it in position. I forced it on the wrong way around to get a really tight fit and i glued it to the shaft with chemical metal. This fixed the issue. I also was offered 10x original gearbox packs for $60 inc postage but i declined the offer for now.
      The cause was the drive shafts can pop apart sometimes and then they bind and strip the gear. So I tightened some of the turn buckles to bring the wheelbase slightly closer together. I had fitted metal driveshafts for the URVAV or whatever that car is called. I think they are almost identical but the pins go all the way through. Works very well now. Also i had put some thread lock on some of the drive shaft push through pins on the cv joints as i had noticed them drifting themselves out. I had not taken care to check the results and the thread lock had stiffened the pins up causing much more stress on the gearbox. It took me some time to remedy this by heating them over and over again and by applying thin oil and manipulating them. Eventually they moved super free again and this time i carefully applied a tiny amount of threadlock to just the right places. Working flawlessly now and had many runs out of it. My soon to be 3 year old loves it and he is really quite good.
      But, i wouldn't let any of his friends any where near it. lol
