This is the absolute best lifting video I have ever seen. You are a wonderful teacher. Thank you for this.
Hsin, it is a very good video. Easily the best example of how to pull a cylinder. A few years ago I adopted your thumb method and although I don’t use it exclusively, I do like the results I get. I never tire of watching you masterfully create incredible forms.
Marvelous! These video’s should be part of a mandatory program in all schools of pottery!
I have always enjoyed your simple explanations on how the process is done. Plus all the visual effects you add. It doesn't matter how experienced of a potter a person is. Anyone can get a few great tips from you. eddiespottery.
best demonstation I ever saw
thank you
You are a wonderful teacher! But what do I do if my right arm is not flexible like yours? I can’t turn the thumb downwards like you do... should I use my index finger knuckle?
Use any method you feel comfortable should be fine.
How much clay is used for these samples?
I have the same question. Thank you.
Throwing cylinders
The glass demo is great
Thank you for creating these fabulous videos--I can tell you are a master of the craft. The split views are extremely helpful, with the overhead perspective especially helpful when showing the opening and compression of the floor.
Glad you like them!
I love this video because you have two angles to see. Very helpful!
Awesome, very helpful.
Thank you, very comprehensive and the tips and demonstration s were excellent. As you said, keep watching the video, I will.
You're the best guy.
Fuck the pandemic and .so crap...
What a great video!!!!!!
지금까지 제가 본 영상 중에서 최고 입니다. 자세한 설명이 입문자 에겐 최고의 스승임을 자랑할 수 있겠습니다.
감사 합니다.
Love this technique
Thank you will try
Your videos are so helpful! Thank you so much. I learn from you every time. :)
You are such a good teacher. Thank you for all your videos.
You are excellent teacher....thank you so much for the video.
Could you share the weight of the clay and the approximate diameter and height. Thank you. I agree with the 100’s of positive comments before me your videos are didactic wonders.
This piece is approximately 2.5 Lb and 4.5”x 9”
That was soooo helpful!! The two views and your great explanations- thank you❣️
You are welcome
Thank you!
You are welcome!
Thank you so
Much for your tips and shows how to do the right thing. I love your lesson.
You are welcome!
Thank you teacher. You are the best!!
You are simply an awesome teacher . I have been having trouble pulling and I think I am going try the thin technique .
Meant The Thumb technique
I just watched the same video you made 10 years ago and read in the comments about this remake. It is so helpful to have both top- down and side visuals. I am totally self taught…about a year so far…and I have been having trouble learning cylinders, so I will give this a try tomorrow!!! ( How much clay are you using?). Many, many thanks for being an amazing and caring teacher. Everything I know how to do I have learned from you!
You can try 2 Lb of clay.
@@hsinchuen I have lots of practice ahead of me!! So wish I could take classes from you in person!!
Thank you teacher!!!!
On the second lift (where you push the belly out from the inside and lift with the thumb on the outside) how much pressure are you applying with the thumb? Are you squeezing in or just enough to lift the 'belly' up?
The pressure is depending on the thickness of the clay. The thicker the more pressure.
@@hsinchuen Thanks :)
