Hey! My name is Dave Donoghue and I am a Guitar teacher from Ireland
The aim of these videos is to create Easy and Accurate Guitar Songs that you can play on guitar. I have many playlists that act as a collection of easy song lessons for beginners and intermediate players on guitar. These easy guitar tutorials contain open chords with strumming patterns! Whether or not you are into pop songs or you are here because you want to learn how to play easy guitar songs, I hope my collection of song lessons help you!
When learning guitar, a lot of players are looking for easy guitar songs to strum but even if you have been playing a lot longer than that, then these lessons are still a good group of tutorials of easy guitar songs to sing and play. Although some songs were originally played on electric, they still make good beginner acoustic songs, many being easy songs in easy keys. I know with UA-cam there is so much to learn out there and you may be asking yourself "what is a super easy song to play on guitar"? , well I hope this channel will be built out over time to help serve your playing so be sure to subscribe for future uploads! ..and remember to get your free access to my tab and song sheet collection at theschoolofguitar.com/songlib...
If you liked this lesson, you'll LOVE the "What's YOUR #1 Beginner Blindspot" playing assessment. You'll find it on the link in my profile under "freebies" :)

This makes me happy :)
Holy f***! I’ve been playing for 22 years now and you’ve shattered my barre game. Thank you so much!!!! 🙏🏼✨
WOW, amazing what a difference this instantly makes! Reminds me of one of the core principals of yoga which teaches an awareness that our body is not a bunch of isolated parts, but rather one big, interconnected system. I've been asking my thumb to do it all when it should be a full body experience. Its so simple but so powerful! My mind is blown! Thank you!!!
Holy. Shit. I can play Littleroot Town now without muting the hopo sections. You sir are a saint!
Nice job :) You're Welcome!
My gwaaadd!!! This is what i was lacking.. thanks alot i think i have come one step closer to master the barre chords perfectly ❤
yeaaaaaah! keep it goin :) so glad this helped
This was actually insane thank you
Sweet! Glad you find it useful :)
You forgot to tell people this technique requires a bit of finesse. If you pull your guitar like that you make the neck bend backwars which will make your chord go sharp depending how much u pull. Sometimes you see some guitarists do it as a vibrato effect by pulling on the neck. So the advice I could give is to practice to do this technique with the least amount of effort to make the barre chord ring out nicely. That will be the point where you dont pull too hard but still can make the chord sound clean.
People who can't play a barre chord probably don't even notice that lol.
HOLY SHIT THIS IS THE BEST GUITAR VID ADVICE I GOT SO FAR, it’s hard because you can never tell people are doing this by just watching vids
Great tip to make everything you play sound sharp 😂
Haha yes, why tune to a different frequency when you can get there organically 🤣
Dude this saved me so much time thank you SO much! W
As a beginner who struggles with barre chords this helped a TON, thank you so much 🙏🙏🙏
You are so welcome!
This is an amazing tip, finally able to make clean sounding barres now. Thank you!!
wuhoo!!
Dude after all the videos and days of practice, this video unlocked barre chords for me. Thank you ❤
Sweeeeet! Great job man, I love the persistence!!
Thank for teaching me. Im been struggling for years
ah you're welcome, glad this has helped :)
It actually felt easy and not life threatening after using this tip haha , thank you !
I have been playing guitar off and on for 37 years and never learned this. In a one-minute video you changed my playing forever. Thanks!!😊

Appreciate these details, thank you.👍
Dude, thank you so so so much, I’ve been trying to play a barre chord for like, 3 weeks. I finally got it.
Wow 3 weeks, awesome job on sticking it out :)
Saved me from getting carpal tunnel thank you!!!
That’s sick , I immediately felt it and was🤯
That's it. That solved it. Thank you.
Glad it helped
if theres someone to teach me barchords, its gonna be an irishman
cheers!☘️
Omg! I can instantly see improvement thanks.
Brill! Glad you got it working!
I've been trying to learn for the longest time and no one ever taught me this INSTANTLY after this I got clear sound out of my barre chord THANK YOU
So that's why every great gutairist is shredded. Whoa!
Pressin the tom 😂😂
This is game changer man... Thank you so so much... This was magical !!!!!!!!!
This helped me INSTANTLY
Great to hear!!
Very useful, we only learnt it the hard way
Good suggestion. Another would be to play fewer strings. If you're playing the E shape barre just play the top 5 strings. Trick question: how many G notes do you need to make a G chord? 2 are probably plenty. Better yet, triads are a better option. It all depends on the sound you're trying to get
I spent all day working on my barre exercises from a 17-minute video on UA-cam. Still could not make them sound right. Not once was this technique mentioned! Thanks for the lesson! Instant fix.
It makes my day seeing comments like this! So glad you got it working :) And yeah short lessons don't solve everything but there's definitely a lot of guitar problems that can be fixed in less than a minute, without 17 minutes of "like, subscribe, follow" etc etc.
Thank you, will definitely try this. Much appreciated 😊👍
sweeeet!
I've been playing for 6 years and i didn't know that i was playing barre chords wrong until now, Thank you so much!!
You are awesome , saved my hours😊
This literally changed everything for me! So simple and so effective, thank you so much!
For me it’s harder to play barre cords because the middle strings don’t vibrate unless I have other fingers on the frets up further from my Barr finger. Like barre A cord is harder than a B barre
Thank you so much. I have struggled a lot becaue of small hand etc. But because of your tip the sound improved a lot
thats great to know, thanks!
Thank you brother I was about to give up on the barre Chord and this was my
Issue
Glad I could help! Keep us posted how its goin
Brilliant!!! THANK YOU!!
so welcome!
omg this is magic
I cannot believe how instantly this worked for me. Thank you!
sweeeeet!
For years ive either figured out a different way to play songs, or avoided them completely because of how much my hand cramps up from playing barre chords, im hoping this can change that, thanks for the help
Yeah I hear ya, here are 3 more things that could help your hand cramps:
1. Use lighter strings to begin (10 gauge)
2. Learn the G major barre chord first
3. Put a capo on the 1st fret to add some extra pushing onto the strings..
..then do this video exercise, and piece by piece work on it, remove the capo when you feel ok to do so.
These will help build small wins but build up bigger belief. You got this.
Get on it and drop me an email at dave@theschoolofguitar.com in 30 days to let me know your progress.
You got this!
Nice very effective tip!👏
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks so much! This fixed my muted 2nd and 3rd strings (not doing a normal major or minor bar chord).
great great, thanks for sharing that!
For years I though it was "bar chord" because the index finger made a "bar" behind the fret. Only much later did I learn it was "Barre chord."
haha I was the same!
Instructions unclear, I beheaded my guitar
noooooooo
Been very casually playing gcde for years after giving up on barre chords, this simple tip sure is going to help

It worked instantly. How can i thank you brother. A humble sub is all i could do. Many thanks once again 😊
Ah great great, I'm so happy it worked for you :)
Wow.
THIS JUST WORKED. I HAVE BEEN STRUGGLING FOR SO PONG THANK YOU SO MUCH
Thanks!!!
Making sure that the clearance of the strings from the fretboard is not too high is a great help. (Some people call this the ‘action’). Don’t buy a guitar if it is too high; if you do have one then carefully filing the piece that holds the strings away from the fretboard can help
Brooo boy am I glad I searched this! Two years of playing and skipping barre chords because of a screwed up ring finger… the elbow move just totally got my hand in a position where I can now be mediocre at barre chords too!!!
Thank you very much my guy
I LOVE YOU I CAN NOT EXPLAIN HOW MUCH THIS HELPED YOU ARE A REAL ONE
