    I am so fortunate to have been invited to curate a lock pick set for Multipick 😃 This set is my personal choice of the best of the best that Multipick have to offer and believe it caters for nearly any lock picking situation! It even has some of the awesome Multipick dimple picks in it! Is that a first for a pick set from a major manufacturer?

      That's an awesome selection indeed. I would miss the City rake, but then I've never used sinusoid all rakes, so your selection would be a teaching aid for some of us. Thanks Ash.🙂👍

      Will you be allowing UK manufactures to make those two new rake profiles you created the Abona and Monith rakes as I know of one UK company that uses German steel in there quality picks which would make the rakes more affordable and support UK lock pick manufacture at the same time. As £219.00 for the full set is going to make out of many's budgets. even though it is a quality product I would personally support UK company. I know you can purchase both the Abona and Monith separately.but would rather wait till available from the UK

      It’s an awesome kit. Also good for a beginner I would say, they don’t really need anything else. And it would also give them all the tools they need to develop further. I know the price is high, but it’s a premium set and I always say “buy once, cry once”

      They changed the set. Now it doesn’t include a standard short hook. They replaced it with a ball rake. I want the hook back.

    Mine have just arrived and they are beautiful! surprised by how compact this kit is too, literally fits in my hand. I was expecting a larger tool roll but I love the size. The quality of the picks is stunning as are the tension tools. I feel I need to make a video of these myself. Thanks again Ash, over the moon with this set

    To everyone saying, nice set but expensive, remember Multipick has great materials and finish and the best warranty against defects. I'll be saving up for this set. Sure, I've got most of these picks but picks break and these are great replacements. The dimple picks are a nice add. All in all the best single kit I've seen. Great choices here.

I had most of this collection already with the dimple picks and the elite set but I did not have the two picks you created along with the multipick versions of the .15 versions which i greatly will appreciate on my locks soon!! New to lock picking, bought the usual cheap pick + crap acrylic lock from eBay here in Australia initially, obviously it wasn't sufficient so I decided to buy this set after careful curation of a few different ones.
    I am so far finding the set to be both extremely versatile and helpful for getting further into the hobby. It gives you so many options to attack a whole bunch of locks in different ways. All the tools give great feedback, are durable and are clearly built to last. Excellent value for money for what you get.
    On a side note too the Abona and Monith rakes that come with it are awesome, I've opened a surprising amount of reputable brand locks with security pins + decent bitting with it alone!

    It's one of my favorite sets! It helped me develop a taste for Lock Noob's other designs, such as the Teylu, Abona, Monith and the Druim and his Tubular lock and dimple flag turn tools.
    This set can basically open the following types of locks: Pin Tumbler including Euro Profiles (using dual gague hooks and the Christian Holler champion turn tools), Shutter (Locks using the shutter turning tools) and hooks, flags and probes, dimple and smiley dimple locks (using the dimple tensioners and the bottom or top of the keyway tensioners as well as the two dimple flags). For tubular locks it's better to buy the tubular tensioner which was also designed by locknoob and use the tubular probe.
    All in all, It's an awesome well balanced set and it was my first multipick set that I got.

    I just got mine in the mail last night and started working with it today. The quality is awesome, as is the selection of tools. The only drawbacks I found is getting used to the rounded tips as opposed to the flat tips I started getting used to, and the handles being thinner than the thicker plastic I had been using making them feel so very different. But the thin hooks allow me to access many more locks I have that I couldn't access until now, including some heavily paracentric keyways. The only thing I would change is to add a few more TOK turner thicknesses.

    Looks great & well balanced.
    Do picks come in duel thickness ?
    Personally, I've found the deforest variants can get a better push when sidestepping warding. I'd also would have liked to see a postal hook.
    Not sold on pick rolls.
    Good for counters, desks, & workbenches...
    But, in the field, not as practical for me. I like cases I can suspend from door knobs.
    Just based on my picking.
    Thanks for sharing.

    That is a well curated kit. I agree with you about the rakes but I keep one in .015" around so I can say I have one. I really like the inclusion of the dimple picks but the single best inclusion is the probe. Not joking.
    There exists no more useful tool to have on hand then a stabby piece of steel and every kit needs at least one.

    Really nice set, kudos for curating it. If I didn't have the Multipick 27pcs dual gauge set already this certainly would be on my shopping list since it has been announced. Owning said set I concur with your decision of leaving out .4mm rakes - I haven't touched mine once. What I would've liked to have is a lower profile, not a thinner gauge. Adding the Christian Holler tensioners is a great decision as well in my eyes. I'm a bit on the fence about the dimple picks but if you're starting out that's certainly nice to have
    As for the case: My set came in the same case and while I like it it was showing wear early on and I needed to use leather conditioner on it to prevent damage. If you intend on keeping your picks in it constantly I recommend doing the same. Else you might see the handles' outlines quite clearly through damaged leather. I've given it a once over multiple times over the months and that has mitigated the issue

    I've never picked a lock in my life but i just got my first set, some cheap $30CAD set from LockpickingWeb... they're brass with hard rubber handles...a couple basic tensioners and a wiper thingy... and 2 clear mock locks...i used the wiper thing and a small hook and picked the pad lock on the second try! i didn't fully understand how i did it until i kept doing it...it takes a bit but u do get the feel for it, then i went on to picking my bedroom door knob lock and the dead bolt... couldn't believe how insecure regular door locks are lol. it's definitely a satisfying thing to do, and absolutely essential skill to have in SHTF situation lol.

    Great selection of excellent picks, rakes, tensioners, @Lock Noob. Multipick (German) along with Law Lock Tools (British) would be the two top of the range brands for quality of everything, including design, IMHO. For those who say the price is too steep - it's like anything: you get what you pay for. My favourite line is "The quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten", or as @Bosnian Bill would say, "Pay once, cry once, enjoy forever".

    Interesting, I find that I almost never use mu .025 rakes anymore, only the .015. That said, I mostly use rakes to get a false set. I haven't had a lot of luck with rakes in general (snake rake exception). I have found if I can rake it, I can likely "scrub" it or "zip" it with a hybrid ball type of pick. And for rocking, I find the .015 gets into more keyways. I totally agree on the regular hooks, the probe, and the tensioners.

    • @LockNoob

    Very nice kit. I love the selection of hooks and most importantly the tensioners. I disagree with the.choice of rakes but that is just personal preference. I like the 2 flags and the z wrenches but being Canadian, dimple locks are very rare here. There are 2 things missing I consider essential; a thin feeler for decoding combination locks, and a couple different size tubular lock tensioners. This set.is also lacking in any wafer picks/rakes for automotive door.style locks.
    Multipick are indeed.the elite of picks but for mainly financial reasons my best set is mainly sparrows with a few random brands of items I added.

      The only thing I’m really missing in your kit is a few comb picks for over lifting. Oh, and the pick LPL and BB made, for disk detainers but that’s Sparrows...

      @@LockNoob Well, I should have ended my previous comment with "for me". Triple digit price tags on hobby supplies for a struggling student on a budget are difficult to rationalize. I hope someday a set like this won't seem so out of reach - it really is nice! Sorry for my green-with-envy comment.

      @@arrrg3846 oh! Sorry I thought there might have been a genuine pricing mistake! I completely understand. Luckily there are so many great choices out there for us pickers. I actually rate Secure Pro set you can buy for £2 a set and know some lock smiths who only use Majestic picks that cost under a tenner. That’s the beauty of this hobby; you dan be a fantastic picker on any budget :-)

    A really nice looking set as you said should cover most requirements for an EDC kit for the professional and hobby picker you mentioned the deforest picks I would definitely have one of those in but that’s just a personal preference however maybe a decoder knife /pick for the combination locks I don’t own any multipick pin tumbler picks but they look very good something for the future I think great video 👍🏻

    They changed one of the picks in the set. Now you get a ball rake instead of the short hook in .6
    Honestly that’s kind of a big deal to me, I don’t care about a ball rake, but I use the standard short hook all of the time!

    • @LockNoob
      @LockNoob  2 роки тому

      I checked the list on line and they seem to have short hooks still in the set

    • @forteandblues
      @forteandblues 2 роки тому +1

      @@LockNoob yeah but the standard thickness size shortest hook (the one you said we would use most often) isn’t included. I’ll look up the exact product number or anything if you would like.
      I just got it for Christmas and was confused when it didn’t match the video. So I did some research. Still could be very wrong tho :p
      They still have I think hook number 1 in both gauges but the one specifically named “short hook” is only in the thinner size in the set.

    You should change your name Lock Noob to sponsored by Multipick your name implies that the people that are watching your channel are new to lock picking so you would think you would be showing them how to make this sort of thing from old hacksaw blades not trying to sell them some picks for over £200 👎

    • @LockNoob
      @LockNoob  3 роки тому +4

      I don’t take money from Multipick and no one needs to buy anything - this is just something really cool for me to do. I have a full disclosure on my vid description and I stand by my pick choices in this kit. I also do loads of videos on hacks and crafting. I try to do a mix of things but if you have not watched this video, please do - it’s one of my favourites ua-cam.com/video/p1ANmpB1enQ/v-deo.html anyway, happy picking and always remember that I value any pick that works, regardless of cost. 🙏

      @@LockNoobi saw that vid when you put it out which just proves my point they are just cut polished strips of metal what makes them £200 I'm not saying the picks are a bad set they do look good but your name implies your talking to new people to the trade and not all will have £200 to lay out on a set of pick when you can buy an EPG for the same price

    • @LockNoob
      @LockNoob  3 роки тому +3

      @@blackdotkiller1 absolutely but I can’t really change my name - also some people have more disposable income than others and may like this set. All this is is another option. I have done many, many reviews of kits ranging from £5-500 and I don’t judge pickers or picks based on cost. My channel is focused on new and intermediate pickers, but I’d never assume what my audience would choose to spend on their hobby. In the end, I wanted to curate this set as it’s fun and it was :-) I will keep reviewing all kits no matter what the cost and let people choose what might suit their needs and budget
