Lynx Encounter on Beautiful River Camping Trip - Onaping River

- 4 days whitewater paddling down the Onaping river from Onaping lake to A.Y. Jackson falls. Being a lost route we found scant evidence of previous travellers and had to make our own portages. We travelled off aerial photography and satellite imagery compiled by Brad. Check out his channel at:

What a fantastic experience that must have been, seeing such a shy, beautiful creature in the wild. Thanks for sharing!
It truly was!
I also had a Canada Lynx experience in Northern Maine. Definitely an all time Wildlife highlight
Yes, I see that! Awesome! Hope you capture many more nice images of their clan :) Cheers
Too short, too short, over too quickly.!!!! I could have stayed another 20 minutes with you guys. Loved the campfire and running river shots. So dreamy.
Thank you for the feedback Lillian! This was my third video and my first video filming with other people. In retrospect I edited too much out. I am really glad you enjoyed!

what a moment to be able to capture on film. What a privilege to see the lynx so close and have it stay there for a moment.
It was a true pleasure!
Wow, what an amazing sighting of the Lynx! I do love watching the water just run smoothly in a river. Hypnotic. Great content as usual. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome video. The Lynx was just gorgeous.
I can't believe it stayed so still!
wow, u experienced my biggest dream when it comes to animal-encounters in nature! not even scared, that is rare i think. thanks for sharing. greetings from norway.
I have been very lucky recently, the Canada Lynx is a relatively small cat ( I would say about 4 times the size of a house cat) and there are no reported attacks on humans that I know of, so I was not worried. Thanks for watching!
Love the close-up shots of the flowing water - feel like I'm right there able to reach out and touch it
Glad you enjoyed Sebastiaan!
Great video, your family really has a knack for this stuff
Thanks!
Gorgeous footage of the lynx. Love your videos, God bless ya.
Thanks so much Juanita!
Amazing that this is only your third video, and we're already starting to see the serene, purist, nature-lover vibe we can't get enough of. I guess this is just the way you think. I am so happy to have found your channel! Thank you for making such peaceful, gorgeous content. 🙂 -Cara
Thank you, Cara! I still can't believe I was lucky enough to get such a clear view of that lynx!
@@maximbudnick 🙂 A very special few moments!
very special indeed - though it was more than a few moments. Remarkably, the lynx stayed still observing us for a few minutes! :)
@@maximbudnick They're my favorite of the wild cats, followed by puma. How far away were you? It looked like you could have been within 20 feet or so. Or were you even nearer than that?
Believe it or not, I was even nearer! It was incredible@@homeandgardendiy6363
Great video. Amazing to see the Lynx just hanging out like that
It sure is!
Do lynx attack humans?!
Beautiful scenes !
Thank you, Annemarie!
Beautiful footage u have an eye for beauty .. give a wave next time you are up Onaping way I’ll wave back
Please do Patti!
Superb footage and editing. So much of what you capture is truly breathtaking! 😊
Really appreciate that, have a good one Eugene!
Wow! That was incredible…. and you saw a lynx!!!
😁
Again, a stunning video, Maxim. They are all so healing and fun..As someone who used to backpack, traveled to all 50 states and all but NW Territory, Nunavut, and Yukon in Canada, 55 counties, and am a photographer, I appreciate all the effort you put into your travel and imagery. Keep up the great work.
Thanks! 😊
.I love it up there Onaping River it's falls , rapids are so epic and the area has an interesting history around Sudbury area for sure. , such as Oniping High falls, While hiking there i found an impact mark from what i believe was a meteorite . Such beautiful campsites , shore lines , wildlife , and wilderness . The Lynx is a rarity for sure wasn't it beautiful, awesome footage . Ontario.
Really is an incredible area. So many Geological mysteries. Thanks a lot for sharing!
Awesome 4 day adventure. Great videography Good Karma , Lynx not afraid of you. Just as curious. I live in the Sturgeon Valley in Alberta near the Sturgeon river.. I have a Fox follow me around while walking my dog , she also visits me at my home daily. Like you , wild animals do not fear me. I dont even feed her.
Something I realized , no messy food preps and eating. I like that.
I'm really liking what I see so far. Just a few Videos to catch up. 🇨🇦🇨🇦
Thanks a lot Darrell, really appreciate the feedback! I only started the channel two months ago so I am figuring out what works best. I appreciate your personal anecdotes:)
Im jelous of this trip - looks gorgeous. Unreal that you saw a lynx!
Thanks Dylan!
Incredible Lynx footage Max! Funny all my experiences with Lynx have been similar. They seem to be just as curious of us as we are of them. Thanks for sharing🙏
I hope I get to see another one some day
once in a lifetime encounter, thanks for bringing us along for it. Can't wait to see more brother.
Really was. Thanks for watching Austin. I hope you are doing well!
Considering how well some animals blend in with the background, we have to count ourselves lucky not only to be that close, but to actually notice them. Kinda makes me wonder how many times I've been right next to a critter and never even known it was there. 😮 Great job as always!
Thanks Gord! I was blown away to come across it 🙂
Good grief! How many Budnick kids are there in the great outdoors? Nosy I know, but oldest to youngest? And your Mum and Dad must be crazy handsome and brilliant to have raised such gorgeous, talented and kind-hearted kids!
Thanks Kel! Xander and I are the only one making videos. We go in this order Maxim, Xander, Ben and Dylan. All the best
@@maximbudnick I only recently was blessed to read a book that described the struggle my great-grandparents and their 7 kids went through crossing the Atlantic, to migrate from southern Poland to an abandoned old farm in northern Michigan. I suspect your own family history is the same. Take care)
So lucky to see the lynx
Thank you Beautiful 😘
Its beutiful experien with handsome guy
:)
Have you ever thought about teaming up with Xander & Dylan for a trip. That would be awesome 🙂😎
Definitely, Gary. I'm sure it will happen
Scary, it’s eyes staring at you. Weren’t you scared that night sleeping out there?
No not scared at all. The whole experience was super relaxed actually.
Even all 4 of you brothers.
👍
How big would you say that cat is? Stubby tail on the thing
I think he said it looked about twice as long as a domestic cat.
So the Lynx would be about 4-5 times bigger than a house cat.
🤝🏻💪🏻🐬😀🌲👍🏻
:)
"Have a nice little dinner, enjoy" Seriously? Where is all the messy prep, eating in front of the camera? I am out. National geography covers nature more accurately than. Let's watch that.
Camping without food is a big NOOOOO. Will wait for the next one.
Shsssssh, Xander's channel is a food vlog. He has been all lying to you. He just cooks it in the wild.
Thanks for the feedback Farooq! The food portion of Xander's videos is usually my least favorite part but I will keep your suggestions in mind for later :)
I agree, Maxim. Who cares about looking at food when you can take in mist on the water, a carpet of moss, geese passing by, a lynx sitting quietly along the riverbank or a gorgeous sunset as a backdrop to the campfire? I'll take any and all of that all day long over looking at food being cooked. Please don't change a thing!
Fallen wood everywhere but you have to cut down a tree?
What's next fishing with dynamite?
What you see in the video is called standing deadwood. These are dead trees that never fell over - so they dry out rather than rot on the ground - so they make the best firewood. Live trees do not burn so whenever you see someone cutting a tree for a campfire, you can be 99% certain the tree has been long dead and dried out :) Love that you care for the trees though! Cheers and thanks for watching!
@@maximbudnick Please don't do Burning Man just to cook two eggs. A standing deadwood tree serves many purposes that I suggest you research. After those 37 seconds are over, I hope you will re-consider chopping them and just using the fall down.
Hi max! My philosophy is to always make as little impact as possible, but at the end of the day, nothing lives without using some resources. The fallen wood also have many purposes (just like the standing dead wood) - but the difference is that it is not as good for my purposes, since it is often wet and decomposing. And who knows, maybe if I make no campfire, and I cook with a gas stove, the production of the gas cannister might have an even greater ecological impact. At the end of the day, I try to minimize my impact with common sense, but also by following the guidelines of the people who are experts in keeping this environment healthy. Just my thoughts... But as I said before I love seeing that you care deeply about the forest, and I appreciate having the discussion with you. All the best!
Yes
