- Rebuilding a 2010-2012 camaro tr6060 6 speed. Same trans as t56 magnum-except different tail and main shaft.
This is my first ever TR6060 rebuild so be kind! I’ve rebuilt lots of early style t56s though
First full tr6060/t56 magnum rebuild on UA-cam. You’ve seen it here first! - Авто та транспорт
Fantastic video. Raw, comical and full of useful information. I salute you sir 🤙🏼
Finally someone did a video of how to rebuild a TR6060 step by step transmission, thank you so much Sir 🤍
Thank you very much for this video and posting it i greatly appreciate it
Thank You for Not Giving up 👏🏾
This channel is like the old beat up food truck, that serves amazing cuisine. Well done sir!
Thanks! Extra bonus for the music representation on the wall in the intro !! Thanks for your efforts
Thank you so much!
Bad ass video no one really had made a detailed video like your good job 👍
Thanks for taking the time to make a video!
I for one appreciate all your videos. Very cool of you. Thank you.
Good job sir. I’m about to do one myself , lost reverse but the rest of forward gears are fine.
Greatly appreciate the time you took to make this video in detail as stressful and time consuming as doing the repair itself is; recording and editing a video doesn't help, lol. Liked & sub'd, no criticism from me, thankful you put the energy into doing so. I am about to remove my T56 Magnum for the 3rd time this week. I took the shifter plate off and the forward position plate, from what I could see it looked like brand new, as if it was freshly rebuilt prior to my purchase 2 weeks ago. Upon initial installation the trans would grind while trying to go from Neutral into any gear. If I start the car in gear it would grind half way through clutch pedal release. After removing the trans and replacing the pilot bearing, now it does not grind when I try putting it into any gear. It only grinds when Im half way through clutch pedal release. So the pilot bearing solved 1 of 2 of my issues. My only option at this point is to go remove it again and actually open it up. If you have any tips or advice please let me know. Thank you!
Strange problem. If you’re in gear, then it shouldn’t grind letting up on the clutch because it’s already in gear. That tells me you could have a shifter issue, and you’re not fully going into gear. You’re kinda halfway in gear. Or you have broken gears in the trans. That would typically be more of a loud banging then grinding. That’s my busy guest anyhow
Just acquired a tr6060 for an LS swept, your video(s) are super informative and detailed. Going to …. Maybe …. Do a synchro replace soon and/or a slip joint tail end soon. Plus need to swap out the dodge bell housing for the LS3 bell.
Great video!
badass job thank you
Oh man bout to do this too 😅
Best of luck!! Take your time, removing those gears from the back half.
Nice work, Thank you for the awesome lessons. At what stage do you check your shimming / free play in the assembly?
This one actually shims up like the old school, T56, through the front cover. You can do it as the final step.

Thank you so much
Need a huge favour. You seem to know the TR6060 really well. I needed to pull out only the input shaft. I know on the older T56 you can just take the front cover off and remove the input shaft. I know on the TR6060 input shaft, the gear (4th gear) has a lip/flange which sits being the counter shaft gear which makes it harder to remove, but ive heard its still possible with a little “wiggle wiggle”. Can you confirm if I can remove the input shaft on the TR6060 without a complete teardown and just remove it from the front?
This trans had come to me just like that. Input was removed and rest of trans was still assembled. Don’t forget to remove the spring and roller pin under that bolt first
I have zero experience on rebuilding a transmission, I have a first gear synchronizer that is out. Would you recommend this for someone like me?
No unfortunately. This is a pretty advanced transmission. Definitely not what i would consider a beginner trans by far
OK I understand the T56 and Tr6060 now, just names. What aftermarket shifter is that?!

Subscribing for the content and chill.
Great video, been looking for something like this as I'm getting ready to tackle this myself. I have 1 question and 1 suggestion:
1. Do you have a parts list of things your replaced? I'm going into mine because I don't know anything about it other than it sat outside for a while and was supposedly run low on fluid.
2. I highly recommend a camera stand. While I loved the technicality of the video, the camera moving all over the place was painful.
Overall, I still give this a 10!
Yea i Have one and I apologize for not using it. I just feel it’s easier to get close up shots while filming solo, rather then far away shots from a stand. Next video I’ll try using both methods And use what’s better. Thanks for the constructive criticism, rather then going on full blast.
As for parts, this didn’t get a ton of parts. I installed 1-6 hybrid synchros, (they also have full carbon for more), all bronze fork pads, Bronze shifter cup, and it needed a new front pump because he was going to need an external cooler. That’s it. Texas drivetrain hooked me up with the stuff. Re used the bearings. They were fine
@@v8only I think I looked at Texas Drivetrain's website but I'll have to look again. Doesn't seem like there's a ton of rebuild parts kits/info. out there. I did find a place called "the gearbox" that has lots of parts. I've read mixed reviews on the plastic verses bronze pads. I'm doing a mild LS3 build as a daily in a Foxbody, should I run the bronze?
@@mathewshackelford8037 i always run bronze in all my t56 builds. That’s the VERY first thing that breaks, along with the keys. But the tr6060s are a little diff, and this is so far my only build. I can’t qualify a statement that can comment on the tr6060 plastic key reliability. I will say that i try to never use the plastic ones on the original t56s. Supposedly the Texas drivetrain 5/6/r bronze keys are the only ones that fit right. He also sells those too amp distributing, which is another great place to buy parts. Can’t go wrong with hanlon motorsports either. They’ve fed around since the Foxbody days. I’ve used the gearbox many times too. I “think their shipping is highest though. Lately i use amp for a lot of stuff for non oem tremec gears, as they have many made to their standards, and their great quality
@@v8only thanks for the info man, I appreciate it! Hopefully I can get mine torn down soon and see that it doesn't need much work. Mine is alleged to have come from a 2017 Camaro SS but like you, I've read it shouldn't have the sintered snychros. Guess we'll see. Again, appreciate it man! I also need to get those snap ring pliers and that 2-jaw puller.
@@mathewshackelford8037 my old 12 camaro had the early synchros. Man that second gear grind!!! Yours should look very clean inside
where did you get your two jaw puller? part #?
Proto j4234b. You can get it online or ones similar to it
How did you remove the Bolt on the end of the flange?
Impact
Or strap wrench
I have a T56 that, when on power makes a whining sound...my fear is that its a main bearing..
Whining is typically worn cluster shaft and input shaft teeth from running low on fluid. If it goes away in fourth gear that’s your problem. Whining usually isn’t a bearing. That’s more of a grinding
We're you buy your 2 jaw puller
Proto 2 jaw puller. Or urrea on Amazon
@@v8only whats the model#? 6 or 10 ton ? appreciate it
@@Airman.. 10 ton
@@v8only thank you boss
amazing video!
Just have to say, I'm kind of an OCD neat freak and your garage and how your throw all the parts in a pile make me cringe but that's just my own faults, lol. I'm currently do a full rebuild a stage upgrade to my T56 from my 2006 Z06. It also has a one pc counter shaft. No Shaft extension. I literally shadow boxed , on cardboard, and labeled all the parts in order they came off. But this is my 1st transmission rebuild
Wish i could be that way, but I’ve got 5 project cars, all being built at the same time And the occasional trans. Its Just something i deal with
