Hi, thanks for this, such a tragic event. I was in Paisley yesterday and stopped to look at the monument in honour of the young lives lost 😢. It stands on one of the triangular lawns in Dunn Square, beside the river and the town hall. Thanks again. Cheers, Don 👋
Thank you so much Don. It was just terrible what happened that day.
Such an insightful, but thoughtful account of the tragedy. I'm born and raised in Paisley and remember my Grandmother telling me about this. It must have been awful for those poor kids. It's a tragedy that Paisley will never forget.
Thank you for taking the time to make this, it's more appreciated than you may realise. ❤🙏
P.S. The Paisley witch trial would be a good slice of history, that would fit nicely into the historical theme of your channel.
Thank you so much. It's unimaginable what those poor parents went through. I will add the Paisley witch trial to the list, so thank you for the suggestion.
This was such a sad story to hear. 😢
Those wee kiddies up against a door that opened the wrong way, then locks on gate.
Ironic the earlier fire inspection didn't think the locks were a problem.😳
At least some good safety changes were implemented because of it. I enjoyed my Saturday mornings at the cinema when little.
Another well told part of our history, thanks.
RIP 🙏 all those lost. 😔🏴
Thank you so much. An awful event but as you say at least lessons were learned and today we're safer because of it.
Hi and thanks, Scotland's History for sharing.
This is such a disastrous incident and children were always victims. I cannot imagine how much sorrow wrapped up this town.
I think parents who lost young loved ones from this event really wanted justice, so they could cope with their losses.
Thank you so much for bringing up this history. WEll done.🙋♀🙋♀🛶🛶
Thank you so much. It hit the community hard but everyone rallied round to support the families. A truly sad event that people in Paisley still remember.
My dad lost a younger brother in this tradgedy, dad couldn't go as he was working in the mills that day.
That's so sad. It was a terrible thing to happen. Thank you for sharing.
That's right and it took many yrs for monument to be erected almost forgotten the only memorial is a small plaque beside the piazza many kids suffered I'm sure there's a memorial at hawkhead cemetry
There is, and there's a memorial at Dunn Square which was unveled for the 90th anniversary. It was such a massive loss for the community, but it's good it's still remembered. Thank you so much for watching.
My Dad took me to the Kelburn Cinema in Paisley every week.
It was a big thing, going to the cinema. Thank you so much for watching.
I worked alongside one of survivors bobby pope in the post office underwood road.
It must've been such a terrifying event in his life. It's nice to hear what some of the survivors did afterwards. Thank you so much for watching.
My hometown and was told of this as a young child,so so sad xxx
It was. I can't imagine what it was like for the parents. Thank you so much for watching x
My Aunt Mary died in this disaster aged 9 years.
That's so sad x
My mum Mary mcIreavy went there with her twin cousins the mcrann twins she changed her mind and didn't go to the cinema
It may have been one of the decisions she ever made. Thank you for sharing that and for watching.
Come on now, if you don’t want anyone sneaking in to watch a movie for free, then put someone to guard that door, don’t lock it. Locks can be picked quite easily.
Totally agree. Ridiculous.
An other cracking lost historic post. 👍🖖
Thank you so much!
filled by a little smoke filled a a bit ?
Where the children were, yes, there was only a little smoke when it was noticed. Thanks again for watching.
Royal Alexandria infirmary---just saying
Thank you so much for watching.
clean house once a year ?
Traditionally, the house gets cleaned from top to bottom on Hogmanay in Scotland as it's unlucky to do any housework on New Year's Day. Thank you for watching.
@@scotlandshistory It's more that the New Year arrives in a clean house.
Pity the voice over is so poor. The inflections within the narrative are mostly completely misplaced.
Appreciate the feedback.
