Can A Motorbike Brand Use Their Expertise To Create An E-Mountain Bike?

  • We've headed to Belfast to find out if the expertise of an established motorbike company can lend themselves to the creation of an E-Mountain bike. We're riding the Gas Gas Trail Cross and Enduro Cross alongside Jordan Scott, a moto trials and enduro specialist who's showing us around some good trails outside of Rostrevor. Gas Gas riders and mountain bikers such as Kenny Belaey have turned to their E-bikes for something new. Will motorbike brands breed a whole new type of mountain biker into the game, ones that aren't obsessed with weight and ride the bikes in a completely different way?

    The answer is yes.
Just pop down to your local Chinese bike factory and rebadge what they have on offer with a massive mark up. Then do some PR nonsense involving the word “kinematics” many times and graphs no one understands.

Yamaha’s been making power assist bike longer than anyone. They launched the worlds first and have been at retail since 1993. Last year, Yamaha launch it’s first full suspension bicycle since the full suspension BMX of 1973. I think the YDX-Moro Pro model is awesome

Seems to me the profit margin on Ebikes must be massive. They use similar technology as off road motorbikes, with a fraction of the number of components, often with a larger price tag. Also seems to me that you can barely get a cigarette paper between current designs, so I don't think they are selling them to innovate new ideas.
