I was literally almost crashed by a train that morning after I realised my only friend at that moment wasn't my friend at all and I wanted to die for the longest time cause I didn't have any support during my depression. So I came back home heard this song and I got inspired in learning how to play the guitar, and I learned it that night. THE MEANING OF THE VIDEO to me is Rex trying to move on with a long serious relationship.
Hear me out... At the beginning it’s a sad slow tempo at first. He is sad and depressed b/c he and his partner are slowly growing apart and says not to leave so he can tell her how crazy he is for her and how hard he fell and saying he still does and “nothing is new” meaning his love is still there. Then he asks where he can go (memorable locations) to be reminded of the “good times” when life was great between the both of them.
Then It shows him trying to get his mind off her by going out riding a bike, hanging with his buds, and with girls but he wasn’t happy he kept thinking about her. Next he ran into a group of dudes while riding a bike he got intimidated and ran away. Then he ran into an awkward problem with the crackhead and ran. (By now the tempo speeds up and gets a little happier/joyful). Lastly he stops and finds himself at the end of the ally with nowhere to go and decides to face his problems and not run away and move on so he goes back to those problems get on his bike and moves on with his life.
This means he final accepts it and moves on and starts to dance awkwardly showing he’s being himself again and enjoying life, hanging with his buddy’s and girls at the pool.
MORAL OF THE STORY: Sunflower still grow at night. Even when it’s night, dark ,and cold. Your sunflower will grow. The sun will come to brighten your life again. But just be prepared for the next dark night.
