| Armored Core: For Answer is a 3D vehicular combat mecha-based video game for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 developed by From Software and published by From Software in Japan and Ubisoft internationally. It is the 13th installment of From Software's Armored Core series. Armored Core: For Answer is the sequel to Armored Core 4, and takes place around ten years later. It was released in Japan on March 19, 2008, in North America on September 16, 2008 and in Europe on October 3, 2008.
| The planet is in a decrepit and decaying state. Pollution from not only human habitation, but from the hazardous waste given off by Kojima particles released during the LYNX War, has caused the surface of the earth to become virtually inhospitable. The remaining corporations from the Pax Economica formed a new group called "The League of Ruling Companies" or "The League" for short. In desperate need of a solution, they build airborne habitats called "Cradles" to house a majority of the populace - safeguarding them from the contaminated surface below. Some however, are forced to live on the surface. A few NEXT pilots have learned of the corporations' dark secrets and formed the rebel group known as ORCA to wage war against the League. Piloting the cutting-edge Armored Cores known as NEXTs, the player is thrust into the middle of the conflict between the corporations and ORCA. Each faction now controls super weapons known as "Arms Forts" that the player must battle against.

Funny how the most chill mission in the game is then followed up by the biggest gank spank in the game to make the toughest mission outright, it's very dark but very funny that way.

The worst thing about English version of ACFA is Old King singing unknown music in the mission. In the Japanese version, he song "Thinker." I don't know why Ubisoft changed this thing.

Those cradles really aren't sized proportionally to your NEXT for them to believably hold 20 million each.
A next is about 100 ft tall if I recall. They're suppose to be twice the size of old generation ACs.
Number 2000 no a next is about 12 m tall so roughly 40 feet
@@ThePapino134 I see. Still pretty tall. I thought First Gen AC's were about.. 50 ft and Next's were about 100 ft or near. I know in the AC4 intro the white AC is definitely much larger than the generic ac's.
For some reason, the From Software devs obviously couldn't do the math...
all of you are idiots. a next is 10 meters, a normal, or first gen AC is around 7.5, and AC's from V and VD are around 5.
People don't seem to realize that in every AC6 ending except liberator billions are killed.
Mankind transforms by merging with the Coral in Alea Iacta Est ed, not exactly dying.

"No Russian" has more effect to it. You actually see innocent people screaming and running in panic.
@@metalgearexcelsus I was talking about the evilness of the action, not the emotional impact. Destroying cradle 03 results in MUCH more civilian deaths (100 million confirmed) than in "No Russian".
@@metalgearexcelsus its neck in neck on emotional impact for no russian because you really feel the guilt and evil of the situation first hand but in armored core the weight of the guilt only happens 10 after completing the mission it's where you dig into the lore to know how derangingly evil the cradle mission really is
@@thelonelystankmuncher8879 At the same time though, it really tells how sucky things are in Armored Core: For Answer that destroying Cradle 03 and killing 100 Million people is considered a viable option. The Japanese version of the game also has Old King confirm in the briefing that ORCA's actions won't actually change anything.
The Cradle 03 has fallen, millions must die.

The first time I did this mission was when I came across it on accident when I unknowingly took the Destruction Path on my second playthrough. Worse is that when you take the wrecked Cradle in the Motherwill mission in Verdict Day in consideration, this mission could be considered canon! Ironically, I didn't know this was a reversed version of 'Defend Cradle 03' where you had to...erm...*DEFEND* Cradle 03. This is similar to what Armored Core did with their missions in the Revolution Disc, which not only recreated most off the missions from the first AC generation, but also feature the same missions with the outcome being the other way around. For example: There's a mission called 'Attack Urban Center' where your goal is to cause as much destruction to the inner city area as possible to get your post-mission payment as high as it can go before the enemies arrive to fight you. In the reverse version of the mission, however, you are playing the role of Valkyrie(the white AC that tries to take you down once you've proven too much for the Guard MTs to handle) and are trying to prevent any collateral damage to that same area whilst fighting an original AC that is following the player's role(it's possible that the pilot of the AC in that mission COULD be the player since he doesn't have any dialogue whatsoever).

@@bloodedge1528 not necessarily canon though, because in ORCA's "Closed Plan" the Cradles were to fall as well. Besides, in Gen 5 AC one of the factions has an orbital base, which means that ORCA ending is most likely to be canon

Assuming this is in fact the cannon ending, as the Orca ending is also possible. Actually all three endings could work if things go wrong enough in the League ending, but I personally believe that it's either the Destruction or Orca ending
I feel one way is, while boring, seems interesting.
Stray: why should I do it? Don't get me wrong. Working paycheck to paycheck sucks and forced to be slaves to the corporations is unfair. But why do you want me to destroy Cradle 3, Old King?

Old King: if you say so, lapdog. *Old King sends him a document to one of the lower flying Cradles to Stray* this is Cradle 21. Seems normal on the outside, don't you think? Especially safe from the effects of the pollution, no? Well, lapdog, give it a read.
Stray: *begins reading the document with photos. What he learns makes him want to hurl. Especially seeing that even the Cradles aren't immune from the Kojima Particle pollution. Especially seeing that 99% of the population are dead due to Kojima Particles contamination.*
Stray: h...how? How is this possible!? I thought the Cradles were high enough to escape this!?
Old King: unfortunately, lapdog, eventually the Cradles won't be ssafe. No one wants to admit it. Even the Corporations and Thermador admits it will happened. *Stray's eyes widen in shock*. Yes, even our leader knows the truth and doesn't want to admit or tell anyone else. At least, not yet. The differece is that the corporations want to live like it won't kill them while Thermador realize by destroying the facilities will cause many to glide and, at most, crash down. Depending their landing trajectory. But a sacrifice he is willing to commit.
Stray: *floored on what he learning, is left speechless. After a few minutes of silence, he makes his decision.* I'll do it. I'll go with you. It may as well be a merciful kill.
Old Long: *smiling* that's the spirit, Lapdog.
To even get this mission, you have to be a member of ORCA. You're no longer sworn to protect them, although Serene would still object to wantonly killing them.

Know this is 2 years late, but the cradle are supposed to be massive, they are scaled down do to game limitations.
@@venom0825 and in that Armored Core our mecha was still pretty big, their size was reduced later.
the craddles can't be as big as they should for software limitations and it would take a hour to take them all down otherways

Even in AC6 they couldn't load the whole ass floating city at once. And they tried.
Fortunately, the mission where they ask us to forget that little detail happens to be the sickest mission in the game. If you don't assault boost the entire mission you're doing it wrong. Kinda hard to savor that much speed.
Old King: I'm hiring you to kill millions of people.

Old King: but we're targeting the 1%.
Strayed: -I mean these ammo coupons I've saved up. The deal I'll get will be bat sh!t crazy. How about you? I can hook you up.

You’d think it’s the 1%… but half of humanity inhabits the Cradles. There are corporate officials up there, but I would wager the majority of the Cradle residents are former colony laborers whose colonies managed to earn enough favor with the corporations, or who gained enough money to buy their “freedom” in the skies.
A lot of people tend to overlook that you’re not deliberately targeting the fat cats and corporate giants in this route. At least, that’s not how Old King sees it. His exact ideology is never made totally clear. But if you want to look at it through the lens of eating the rich, the truth is, you’re killing half of humanity to get to them. Which brings a nuanced edge to the ending, where you’re not out-and-out destroying the 1%. Rather, you’re stacking the corpses of the entire middle class to get to them. Many of whom simply wanted to live a better life, and managed to claw their way aboard.
Whether that’s worth the price or not, is an answer you’ll have to decide for yourself… lapdog.
I wish more games like that, games where you could be a villain by yourself. Prototype, Ace Combat, Armored Core, dang bro, where are games like that?
Funny you should mention that. Project Wingman is coming out with a pseudo sequel of sorts where you play as the enemy faction, The Federation.
I think the only Ace Combat games where you're a bad guy are 3 and sort of in Zero if you go Mercenary style in mission 11. All other games have you as the good guy.

This mission will always give me goosebumps.
Since AC 6 has done so well I really hope we can get some of the older games remade/remastered. I never got the chance to play allot of them but they seem allot of fun.
From Software gives a big F about there old non Souls games.
And Dark Souls 2 because it is not made by Miyazaki or the Sekiro guy.
I remember doing this mission with regular settings, no infinite energy.

Really feel like the stakes of taking out giant airships containing 100million people is not well represented in the gameplay. No massive defensive force? No escape craft? No evasive actions from the cradles? It's like whoever came up with this dumb solution never imagined the possibility that they might get attacked or have mechanical failures.
This is one of the most evil missions in AC history lol

This is one of the most satisfying missions in the game. You're given the choice to destroy the system that has been turning this planet into a barren wasteland directly to the source, you destroy the ones responsible for it and their spawns. I hardly can see these 100 million lives as anything more than a way to avenge Earth for all the stupid shit the people in the cradles did to it and the responsibilities they tried to flee away from in the sky.
This mission doesn't make you a bad person, it makes you a remedy to a scourge.
I mean the Planet is already a dead wasteland.
Orcas plan is too colonize other planets.

The Assault Cells would still trap humanity on the surface, and Strayed would be directly responsible for humanity's collapse.
This ending also isn't canon; Orca's is.
@@BansheeNT-D ORCA's plan has always had the League's best interest in mind; it's a honeypot set up by the corporations to get away from the never ending war they caused, there's an entry you unlock in ACVD-LINK titled "The End and the Beginning" that pretty much confirms that the League, and by extension ORCA, were "deceptive" from the very beginning, even described outright as "cowards" who couldn't face the problems they themselves caused.
No, murdering a hundred million makes you a bad person, and justifying it makes you an edgy fuck.

When I went back to 4, I saw that White Glint looked massively different in that game. Then I made the connection that For Answer had a completely different design, like a Mark 2 or something.
It basically is a Mk II of Joshua's White Glint from 4. Even the emblem he uses is a replica of it, most likely to honor the comrade they had to slay at the end of the Lynx War.

I've got destruction path only once, but never done it, last mission is too hard for me
On a new game, you're railroaded into siding with the League. On a new game plus, you need to accept the mission 'Destroy Alteria Ulna' to side with ORCA and then just keep doing their missions until Defend Anti-Satellie Batteries comes up. You also might need to defeat Old King in the ORCA arena matches before you unlock this mission, but I could be wrong about that.

incase you didnt found out you have to do the league ending first then you got the ability to choose in chapter 2 or 3 to do the mission attack arteria ulna.. if you do that your part of orca.. if your done with the orca path theres a very hard and short path the genocide path. in order to do it you do the orca ending and in chapter 4 or 5 i dont remember you get to choose to do this mission thats displayed on the video.

@@HeilRay except you'd be doing the mass murder yourself, starting with killing all the NPCs in the roundtable hold, then the Volcano Manor, then fighting a ressurected granseax on the ruins of leyendel, before the standard gideon ofnir/godfrey duo, finally ending in melina first as the lost finger maiden and then as the gloam-eyed queen, a malenia level of difficulty that really just exists to be a more fun version of sans.
