Same! I see people standing literally on the yellow line even when the train is hauling ass into the station. I don’t understand how they have so much trust in the world lol
Having more cops in the subway is good but if they want to mitigate crime in the subway, they should focus on preventing fare evasion. If you're homeless, have mental health issues or just a typical criminal, the odds are that you're unable to afford the $2.75 fare to get into the subway in the first place.
Unfortunately that won’t work because homeless people tend to sleep overnight on the train or in the waiting area by the platform . Or they jump the turnstile so fare evasion hasn’t stopped anyone from boarding the train whether they are homeless or not.
@@joyblessing2011 I'm fairley certain that the homeless person who pushed Michelle Go to her death on the subway tracks didn't pay $2.75 to get into the subway system. So if that homeless person was prevented to get into the subway system in the first place by preventing him from evading the fare, Michelle Go would be alive today.
@@kevincooper8232 totally understand. However, there’s really no way to avoid subway fare evasion. I have lived in NYC for 23 years and it’s an ongoing issue when it’s comes to homelessness hence my previous comment.
I was a young man back in 1980, 20 years old. I remember riding back and forth on the Subways to work, and while there obviously was crime then, it was not as pervasive and out-of-control as it gotten today in 2024. At least back then there were dire consequences for crimes and most criminals tended to have a genuine fear of law and order. Now, New York City is totally lawless; today's thugs are a lot, lot more brazen and undaunted and crimes are much more brutal, sadistic and savage than even in 1980. This is definitely not the New York of my youth.
I remember that news story when it came out. I was 12 years old and growing up in NYC during that time. I can’t believe that was 42 years ago. Time goes by so fast!
@@tomtom7412 why? Do you not know who does most crime in nyc? Do you not know who is most poor in nyc? Do you not know who is oppressed vs the oppressors? Who are you ? Are you looking to blame African Americans because your grandfather was a slave owner? 🤡
Well, the same things that happened today but even worse since 2024 because all hell is breaking loose with these young people, and these this generations is different because they killing their own peers on the train in the train station in front of the train station, the robberies and stuff are worse on the train station the shelving onto the tracks are worse now
History repeating. NYC is dead. It may have been worse in the 70s and 80s but not much. If you're there, leave. If you're thinking about visiting - don't. What you allow, continues. No city deserves your loyalty.
I never understood why Subway Riders stand so close to the edge of the platform when these pushing incidents have been going on for so many years.

Why is the reporting more interesting here than current times? It’s so clear and concise.
Breakdown of the nuclear family?
The same thing is still happening here in 2022.
42 years later in 2022 its still happening.....

This pushing people in front of trains has been going on for a long time.
Thanks for the throwback! Gives New Yorkers what they can expect more of over the near term, sorry to say.
Things haven't changed a bit in 30 some odd years, the more things change the more they stay the same.
Like these old videos. Interesting to watch.

On pace to head back to the dark days again
In 1995 the NYC Transit Police merged with the NYPD.
The cops looked cooler back in the 70s and 80s. They looked grittier and earthy.
Grittier & not afraid to be tougher
Thanks for sharing 🎥🎞
Why are they talking about it now
They're not but you are
This is why they need to bring back the transit police division
What's old is new again.
