  • It was 30 plus years ago when my wife and I caught our last Kokanee. A cold spring morning lead us to Alder Lake in Pierce County where you could find us nearly every weekend chasing Land Locked Sockeye Salmon better known as Kokanee.
Since then we have diversified our fishing schedule to the point of neglecting those small but rambunctious and tasty critters.
No more will Kokanee be safe from the pursuit of the Northwest Fishing Fanatics crew for I plan on many more adventures in the future so stay tuned. East side West side no Kokanee is safe.
On this trip Mike and I used a variety of tackle and baits to encourage savage takedowns and vicious strikes from the depths of this man made reservoir known as Lake Merwin. We walked away with a limit of 20 Kokes and had a blast reminiscing about the past, talking about present day and planning many more fishing adventures in the future.

That is amazing the rubber wasn't rotted. It hasn't been quite 30 years, but a long time for me since I fished for Kokes also ( maybe 15 ?? ). I might try it later on this year. Fish On yeaaahhh !!!

My wife caught a 22 inch Kokanee on the South side of the lake, East of Cresap. Its our favorite lake to fish in Washington.

Did you catch any using that OG1? That color combo is our favorite on Chelan and Roosevelt.

Was it the 1.8” or 2.13”?

1.8 and no, nothing on it. Everything came on the shrimp micro hoochie.

@@Northwestfishingfanatics The reason I asked is because we suggested that color to the owner of Old Goat and he made the for us. It’s been a solid producer for kokes. But micro shrimp are always out in our boat as well. You give them what they’re telling you they want! Great video! Enjoyed it.

If you net a fish twice, does that count as two fish? :)
