Her voice is phenominal. And, like you said, she is so comfortable up there on that stage. I was listening, and not believing what I was hearing. Cripes, I just looked her up. She's Dutch. What have they got in the water in that country?
Happy for you that you've found her! I felt exactly as you did but more hearing her sing first time.. because I had no warning about her.. Her audition for Holland's Got Talent 2013 just appeared in my feed one night and I clicked on it.. I could not believe what I was hearing - from a 9 year old - who'd had no singing lessons.. her confidence and calmness on the stage even back then was staggering.. I recommend her audition to anyone who hasn't seen it. She got the golden ticket to the semi finals, got to the finals sang Nessun Dorma in that and won the competition... And the rest is her childhood and teen history, her producing a fantastic list of performances in opera, classical, musical and sacred genres since. I await every new performance from her since she was 9 years old.. She's just in her own special league..

Between the ages ot seven and eight, Amira taught herself to sing,She had no formal singing lessons before she entered "Holland's Got Talent," only a few vocal tips,by some of the organisers of H G T.before going on stage.Amira taught herself by watching music videos on U Tube of Pavarotti, Maria Callas and Andrea Bocelli,while singing along with them and copying their mouth movements.Amira won the first round singing,"O Mio Babbino Caro", receiving the golden ticket and the golden shower,skipping round two taking her through to the semi finals, where she sang "Ave Maria",which she won, taking her to the finals,which she won with more than fifty percent of the votes,singing "Nessun Dorma.These were the first steps of Amira's road to fame.Reguards from Michael Jonathan Lewis, Johannesburg,South Africa.

Great reaction thank you. We came across Amira about 4 months ago and have been blown away by this incredibly talented young lady. We always have tissues near at hand when she sings. She brings such joy peace and comfort to us. Not only has she the most exquisite voice but she also has a wonderful warm caring heart for the poor underprivileged children in South Africa. Amira has been donating about half of her earnings from singing for the building of playgrounds for them. She is truly an exemplary human being. They're staggering for a kid who taught herself from UA-cam from age 7 to 9, her slightly older brother Fincent jointly with her writing out the Italian lyrics, translating them, Amira painstakingly learning then how to pronounce them.. not to mention her learning about breath control , vibrato etc etc. Her HGT performances are unreal when you know that background and how perfect the performances were. Amira and Fincent are a great team..still are.. I don't know how to share a link but the documentary of her her young years is really interesting.. the title is: Amira Willighagen - VPRO Titaantjes documentary. It's on UA-cam.
She's not classically trained - she taught herself, by watching and mimicing singers like Callas on UA-cam. At 10, she received a little tuition from Andre Rieu.
This is South Africa. She was born in holland, but now lives in South Africa. She give about half of what she earns to help the children in South Africa.
As absolutely incredible as her voice is, she is an even more incredible human being. The more you learn about her and listen to her, the more you will be convinced that God has blessed this world with a phenomenal gift in this young woman.
Thomas is right. She is the best of the best. She's a very humble soul too, and a very loving, giving soul. The first thing she did when she achieved fame was to start her own foundation to provide playgrounds in South Africa for the poorest communities. At this show, she had already sung two opera arias before delivering Amazing Grace, they were Nessun Dorma, and The Flower duet from Delibes' Lakme. There are many stunning videos available on YT, and she has just started her career, so more are released every year. In her field she is outstanding, and she seems to draw people to her genre of music, who wouldn't normally go looking for it. Its the quality that seems to lift it to another level. As you learn more about her as a person, not just a performer, you will see her almost constant exuberance, delightfulness, joyful essence, grace, elegance, charm, and poise. Much of this exudes from her strong Christian testimony and values in her personal relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. When she sings Amazing Grace and other Christian songs (such as Nearer My God To Thee & Down From His Glory), it’s obvious that she is believing and feeling every word experientially! Amira lives her beliefs as well, in the fact that she is so loving, kind, and generous to others, especially the less fortunate and children. She’s an angel!

Partnered with Ruhan Du Toit, this is, for me, the most dramatic presentation I've seen and for a 19-year-old, the closing note is extraordinary. In addition to Dutch she is fluent in English and Afrikaans, but has sung in around 10 languages.
