I love so many things about your video!
    1. The stop motion photography keeps up the pace and the interest as you reorganize
    2. Putting a colorful design (or even just a solid pink color!) behind Elfa is the best part of having that stuff for people who love color!
    3. The pants hanger trick
    4. Realizing suddenly that I can repurpose the Elfa drawers in one of my rolling carts into my wall system without spending any more than I need to for the tracks!
    5. witnessing a clutter bug transformation!
I hope you have a magnet on a stick now to prevent injuries 😁.
If your sewing book collection grows (especially paperbacks) you can put some of it in the closet shelf with sturdy bookends.
You can extend your ELFA top rail and add clothes bars for fabrics and projects in process: they sell special hooks for purses/totes, too - The hook lets you hang your bags in a way that lets you put more bags on the rod, and of course to see and grab them quickly. Nice if you make or use homemade shopping bags. The Container Store has periodic sales (although usually not a full 50% off.) They used to always do 30% in January-mid February, 20% around September,, and one year they even offered a gift card that let you get double the value back in the coming year. So paying attention to sales is a smart move 🤓.
The test of a good system is whether it still looks great after a year. How is it going?

Wow, I'm surprised to see a major UA-camr make do with such a "tiny" setup (simple iron station, small sewing and cutting table and not an insane amount of stashed fabric). It's very relatable! Yay ❤

      Yeah! Same observation!
Im a member of a few Sewing groups on Facebook and some Sewing rooms I see there are huge and just SO MUCH FABRIC. Makes me feel small as a hobby sewist lol. I'm really encouraged seeing this simple setup. Like she puts out such quality and diverse work in such a simple space. Love April!

Agree! In the end, a stash is just dead stock if it isn't used. It holds little value and is a waste of production, space and money. Be proud of your small stash 😍

Soo cute!! I love that you waited and got the deal on the display setup, it was meant for you! I'm a butterfly as well. I had no idea there were categories for people who like to have things a specific way in their space. If I don't see what I have on display I forget all about it so I do love the open shelving but get annoyed sometimes if the open space isnt organized. Gunna get clear containers and organize my space more.

I’m the same way. I can’t bare when my stuff in display isn’t organised but I’ll gladly shove things in hidden drawers. 😅 I’m currently tidying my setup because I wanted a new thing or two + I’m making way for some vintage patterns and possibly a new mannequin because I have a vintage one but she’s not so good, rusty, broken and really needs her fabric recovering but I don’t think that’s something I can do and I don’t want to ruin her vintage look. I want to get one of those stands that make it possible to see what threads I have because with the old storage I have, I have to shovel my hand around in my thread basket and always get splinters. It’s old and beautiful but really not something I can deal with. 😓

My grandmother worked in a sewing factory, and was a wonderful seamstress and her best piece of advice was to always keep you hand sewing needles threaded. That way if you dropped them they were easier to find and if you stepped on one it would be easier to remove (which I did and it went in my foot all except half the eye and thread, which I wrapped around my finger and yanked it out). If you have a rug or carpeting, often pins and needles will land in an upright position.

Stick the extra bins in the zipper drawer for now, so you don’t have to move them out of the way every time you want to access a user manual.
Get a rug gripper pad to prevent the rug from shifting. It’s like a foam rubber mesh that you can cut to size, if it’s not already in the size you want. Similar to some shelf grips that you may have seen.

Tip for people who like displaying newspapers, magazines, or soft cover books, plastic canvas. This is my medium and I can't you tell how many Pinterest things I see with covers, inserts and reinforcements for things like this. So either cut a nearly full length section to slide into your magazine to stand it up or create a small "shadowbox" for magazines and newspapers by making a very shallow drawer to help reinforce the spine's strength to the other side of the cover.

April, for your pattern-making paper wouldn't the roll fit on one of the table legs or, maybe you could rig a stand up with a broomstick anchored in a pail or box of some kind? OR, hang the roll on a shower rod that you could anchor in your closet doorway or whereever (those shower rods are adjustable length and often not necessary to have to nail or screw - mine has rubber end-caps). You've got a lot of really good reference books that a bookcase (in white?) could stash and display conveniently, and looks likey you'd have room against a wall or in a corner, not blocking your light or work space. I bought a bookcase recently (5 shelves, in black!) at Target for about $40. Because you Mrs. "Butterfly" will absolutely utilize all storage drawers, shelves, hangers, etc.! And you do have some great flexibility with the storage you chose and you did brighten everything up with your pink wall graphics, great job! Wish I had a sewing room, dining table looks like your "prior" sewing area!! Enjoy, you are a wonderful design seamstress.

Great job on the organizing and transformation of your sewing space! Organization projects always take a lot of time and effort but the result is always worth it. And no one system works for everyone, but sharing is meant to spread inspiration and ideas so everyone can find and make their own!
Some suggestions based on the comments you made in your video: for your heavier or larger pieces of fabric, you can get some blanket hangers as those are generally heavier duty and match your pants hanger system; depending on how much fabric you actually have, you could also double the closet hanging space by getting a hanging closet rod (it's basically an additional closet rod you hang from your existing one) you can use to section off the fabrics on pants hangers from the blanket hangers (if you choose to go that route). For your pattern paper, a stand should be really easy to throw together: all you really need is a heavy flat base and a large dowel or pole for the middle, but this would also make it a little more difficult to move (unless your base has wheels) - food for thought! And lastly for your overhead camera setup - you mentioned that the tripods take up a lot of room (assuming you mean the tripod base takes up a lot of floor space) so might I suggest you replace it with a garment rack? The structure is almost identical and depending on the base, it could take up less room and also be easily movable.

I’m really over here trying to figure out how to create a diy version of that craft storage space. I live in a two bedroom house and my kids have the second room. I have a perfect space to transform in my living room!

Wow, I'm trying to organize all my stuff. I wish I had a room for my crafting but I don' so I have to use a wall space in my apartment.
The fashion books are a great reference for doll clothes making. That wall organization from the container store is phenomenal. I wish I could have something like that. That's for sharing all this great information.

I found April when she'd only just started her channel, the 1st video I found was one where she made a pair of harem pants out of regular sweat pants.. Now I've finally started mine after yeeaaarrs of thinking about starting. This video has come in handy! ^_^

Hi, this is my first time watching your videos! may I recommend that placing a hard cardboard inside your "Patternmaking for Fashion design" book to help it stand up. Librarians do this and is very effective for years! Thanks for showing us your sister's embroidery in a hoop- I have several embroideries and hoops- now I'll place them as a frame!

I love it! You could put a shelve beside the organizer and display your books. But the neon sign sounds amazing too! (That pin thing sounds like one of my nightmares, ouch 😖 I hope you're better now)

As someone who wants to start sewing, I am overwhelmed by the amount of supplies and tools you have/use.

I love your room - beautiful and functional! 😍 Btw Pintrest has some easy, homemade hanging solutions for rolls of craft paper. Mounting it horizontally on the wall would be simple to do, or even creating a vertical hanger/base with PVC pipe would work. I hope this helps!😊

That's totally awesome! Thank you so much for sharing AND for the link to the test. I am a Butterfly as well as it turns out and I'm thinking that's a huge reason my decluttering didn't work so well. It wasn't/isn't the way that works best for me. thank you so much.

I once somehow had the eye of a sewing needle go into my foot and break off. I had to go under and have it surgically removed.

This is just a suggestion but if in the future you needed more space ( because sewing means you need a stash of a lot of different things) you could consider moving the zippers in next to the elastics and velcro... especially if you had another one of those dividers that you bought separately. I hope this helps!! I really enjoy your videos!
