Galaxy S22 Ultra vs iPhone 13 Pro - BEST Cinematic Video?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 19 чер 2024
- The Galaxy S22 Ultra and the iPhone 13 Pro have very capable cameras especially in the video department. The Galaxy S22 Ultra can record 8K video up to 24fps and the iPhone can record beautiful 4K video up to 60fps. However, both phones can go one step further by recording in even higher quality for flexibility when editing. The iPhone 13 Pro can record ProRes HQ video on all cameras in 4K up to 30fps while the Galaxy S22 Ultra can record Cinema RAW video in 4K up to 30fps when using an app called Motion Cam. Of course, there are limitations which I will be covering in the video. If you would like to see a full camera comparison of the Galaxy S22 Ultra vs iPhone 13 Pro please let me know in the comments. I think iPhone stabilization is better than Samsung…. Stabilization is more important in video. Because smooth video make more interesting…😍
Cant wait for my s22 ultra, should get it within the next 4 hours :D
🔥🔥🔥 You're going to love it!!
Bought mine 2 weeks bck n loving it. U will too
Just got mine, how's yours holding up ?
@@jdrandoms9627 one of the best decision i took. Enjoying it well
I grabbed Motion Cam when you called it out I'm the S22 Camera video last week... what a powerful piece of software! Overkill for my needs, but I love exploring the limits! Thanks.
This is very intimidating and extremely exciting. I can't wait to do a deep dive into my S22 Ultra and see what I can learn as an amateur.
Given the huge file size of MotionCam, I would strongly recommend using an external ssd drive (formatted as exfat) for recording because the internal storage while convenient has a limited number of write cycles (usually about 150 TB) after which it becomes read only. And since you can't replace internal storage, using external drives is a safer practice.
But overall I'm super impressed with this app! Not just internal RAW (even though it's just 10-bit) but also direct to ssd recording is uncommon even in high end DSLR market.
Wait does it NEED to be formatted as exFAT? You can't use NTFS?
EDIT: Okay I'm dumb, you can use exFAT for large files in Windows nvm. I asked because I wanna shoot RAW Video and install Steam games onto the same SSD, and exFAT should do that no problem (the Steam Deck uses exFAT and Steam on Windows has supported it since 2018).
Thanks☺️
I'm so blown away by what the Samsung could do. I really didn't expect that at all. Really makes me kinda mad seeing how they do have the hardware to produce great video but their processing on their native camera app is complete dogsh-t. Anyway, great video and subscribed!
Completely agreed... samsung had great hardware and their software is very good in photos but video oh man really bad for the hardware it had
lmao what do u mean dog shit in the auto processing , it's still a flagship camera and praise by many and majority of people doesn't even know what the hell is raw anyway .
@@mitismee it is dogshit by flagship standards. Of course it will be better than most non-flagships. And yes not many people know about raw or would use it if they know about it. That's precisely why Samsung should improve their video processing because they have one of the best hardware in any phone.
@@tomjones8962 i bet you will vote for Samsung picture during blind test in auto shooting 😂 btw are u using an ip or something 😂 just curious.
@@mitismee I think you misunderstood me. I'm talking solely about video processing. In terms of photo processing I pretty much mostly prefer Samsung over iPhones. I am using a Samsung and I have no interest in iPhones currently because I don't like iOS. It's just frustrating to see the discrepancy in video quality between Samsung flagships and iPhones, or even Samsung and other Android flagships in terms of video processing and quality.
Hi Jonathan, how would you say the motion app compares to FiLMiC Pro on the S22 Ultra? You can use all the lenses on FiLMiC and it records in H265 which plays back natively.
Hello, i saw your clip just now ;) MotionCam Pro was released not long ago and has a lot of features that you pointed out in this video. Thank for your work. Cheers Sebastian
Y'all even added support for all the cameras! So many more features available
Jonathan, kindly tell us which S22 Ultra you used to make this comparison: the Exynos or the Snapdragon version ? Thanks.
Are you able to view the videos on the s22 after converting them to video files? That seems like it would make sense, but I went to public school.
Was wondering on motion cam the pictures it takes when recording a video are they in 16bit raw when the option is turned on compered to the 10bit taken from the normal camera app?
Go for 10 bit , 16 bit is too much and not necessary.
Winter Garden Florida in da house!!!! We should do a collab man! 😁
Great comparison! I downloaded the MotionCam app but unfortunately it doesn't run on all Sumsung phones, inuding my S21. I also have a OnePlus N10 which is a more mid range spec phone and the app seems to run ok on that phone, but I'm still testing it out and can't really provide any feedback yet.
My S22 Ultra arrived on Monday and I freaking love it
I just had to subscribe. This is precious. Thanks man.
I'm curious why you dumped this into DaVinci instead of Final Cut. I'm pretty sure there's some more controls to be had per the Keynote.
Really a good video, I appreciate the time and effort you put into this video you're genuinely one of the best in this domain keep on. Following you from Africa.
Sir which dslr camera you are using and the lenses...
Hey Bro... Can't thank you enough for this awesome video...I have like 2 questions...Is it possible to shoot directly on SSD or PenDrive through OTG so that disk management can be handled better and why stabilization looks so bad....please please reply.. Thanks in advance....God bless u :) )
You wouldn't want to do that even if you could because the internal SSD is much faster. You should just transfer data to OTG as needed.
Yep you are correct
You can always stabilize the footage in post if you want, though it does seem as if the OIS is turned off in the S22 Ultra
The native pro-video camera app on Samsung is epic.
S22 ultra, any day.
Definitely has it's benefits 😁
Soooo, what about Samsungs expert raw😐
That’s only for photos
@Tech Glide I made a video already on expert RAW ua-cam.com/video/7EN5bquUnVQ/v-deo.html
MotionCam rocks. RAW DNG video looks much better...and the best thing is you dont need the best and newest phone on the market. MotionCam works very well on my Oneplus 7t,some sample shots are visible on my channel.. peace ✌️
I'm really surprised at the photos the 22 Ultra takes. Much less the video.
**QUESTION- Why are my Photos showing up on the receiving end of emails & social media apps like Instagram, Amazon & especially Twitter, 90° turned??
In my photos they are correct but I understand I can turn them in the Apps but I never had this issue with my Note 10 Plus & other Galaxy Devices. I've seen other post about this.
What's a basic camera setting because Amazon states I cannot post pics in this format?
I have 3:4 set, HDR off, Scene Optimizer Off & High Efficiency On.. Trying to set to the lowest quality I guess so I can upload pics. Which sux
Second video watched. Great presentation. Subscribed 🙂
can you record raw video directly on the external ssd from the s22 ultra ?
Hey: one question. does the Samsung enable the stabilization on a third party app?
No, it's RAW video.
Should i record 4k 30 fps or 4k 60 fps on my s22 ultra?
Can you do an update on this. I wanna know what updates MotionCAM and prores have brought in 9 months.
waiting for this.... thankyou
No problem at all! Please let me know how you like it.
Cool vid bro. 👍🏼
Mine will arrive at the 8th of next month. Too bad no white color available. In PH the launch for pre order will be on the 3rd of march.
Cinema DNG killed it
The flexibility is incredible
Why didn't you use the Pro Video Mode in the stock camera app on the Galaxy?
Because the video is comparing ProRes to RAW video like I said. You have to use a third party app to shoot RAW video. I explained everything.
The S22 completely blows away the iPhone for sure
Can the app shoot in 8k raw since S22+ can do so ?
Does MotionCam work on the S22+?
Hello Jonathan, great video
I have a question, I'm a smartphone videographer and now I'm confused between s22 ultra and iPhone 13 pro max what do you recommend for me?
And I am using Windows, will there be an obstacle in transferring videos to the PC from the iPhone ? I've never used an iPhone before, so I'm worried about not getting used to using it
can you make a camara comparison?
I’m so tempted to get the s22 ultra do you have any reservations against it or is it the Android of the year?
Get it of Facebook marketplace etc for 950-1050£ instead of 1250 ....People are selling it cheaper on there. And for ~1000£ its the best phone this year hands down !!!!!
It’s a little early to give it phone of the year but so far I love it! It’s become my go to android device over the S21 Ultra 💯
@@VhsssTv ooo good point 🙏🏽
@@OT4Tech dang 😳 THAT energy is what I need 🔥💯👑
Does the samsung galexy s22 ultra overheat while recording video or not ?
Wait, there's a ProVideo setting on the native camera app on Samsung right?
Provideo only gives you manual control over your video, ProRaw gives you manual control AND Raw Image frame by frame of your video
1:12 Please anyone knows which wallpaper is it + the theme?
Been using motioncam app for 1 week now, with moto g8. Shooting with 4k mode, 30fps, raw.
There is notable quality difference between raw and basic mobile video.
To put this simply and referring my friend: "there is difference between "art and video". (meaning that video looks over polished, boring and with all kind of stuff that makes video look boring vs. raw and graded video).
"Do art, not videos" ;)
Is the Pro video mode better than Motion Cam or no? I personally use Pro Video because it's part of the native app and I get great results
I have the same question
Pro video is till normal stock processed video just having controls over ISO and shutter.
RAW is RAW, like full details you can edit afterwards.
like those RED or black magic.
question i wondering which camera phone have the best low light video ...
iPhone is still a bit better in low light but I think the S22 Ultra needs a few software updates to fine tune the camera.
Overall s22ultra is best camera nd video nd spen and ltpo display 👌 etc
Did you have high efficiency turned on in the s22 like I saw it was on in the apple?
That does not make a difference when shooting in RAW and ProRes
raw video seems revolutionary, especially it gets in the hands of the right people
Check out the S22 Ultra Cinematic

Nice. Can you tell us how you shot and processed that? Thanks!
I wanna know where you bought the monitor on your office lol it's huge
I think iphone has better stabilization and shadow details
S22 has better overall details and noise control
Stabilisation is better on S 22 ultra
S22 have no stabilization cause its cinema png format. You must use a gimball
⬆️ this
@@khabanh1393the s 22 does have stabilisation, and it works extremely well
@@sparx2391 in their default app, yes. However RAW video is RAW... you get no assists. It locks the sensor in place and .. WYSIWYG
I need the link of your theme on s22u
I'm using s22 ultra and i think normal camera is better then editing 😅🤣
Because Samsung is bad example of showcasing raw dng video, cause its capped to some internal limitations and bad HM3 sensor (not optics, but sensor itself - for shadow details).
@@miesto_paukstis The Isocell HM3 is a way better than Crapple camera with HDR issues. Better comment this useless facts to other Apple Biased Channels
@@sampadkar19 I feel sorry for you, really. Please read again to what i wrote. Where do I mention apple??
My point is, that showcasing MotionCam application on samsung S22 Ultra is a bad choice, as it has overall bad sensor (and sounds good with marketing data only). Especially complicated with 9to1 binning (nona bayer array), producing artifacts in video. Both HM1, HM3 were having this. Widely sold for 3rd party companies the HM2 was none better. Even worse more. HMX has 4to1 binning (quad bayer), but at the end same level of details, similar way of artifacts then cropped, but it somehow does not fall apart that quick in low light (to my suprise - I've made tests between both devices). MotionCam just even more shows and reveals defects of those sensors than in regular video recording via native app.
Best devices from Samsung to showcase the MotionCam is the ones who uses IMX555 sensor, which is sadly, last large mobile Android phone sensor with full bayer array (except Sony, but they have other issues I would not even bother to mention).
Good luck.
Unrelated to the video, but just went to an S22 Ultra and Speck redesigned their cases for the worse. What case are you using on S22 Ultra?
wow man. Really impressed. I didnt know such apps exist for galaxy.
At start I was shocked that why didnt you use the native pro video mode. And then with the outcome you got with 3rd party app I was pretty impressed!
Can you make a video using the native pro video mode and compare it!
I once used pro video mode on my s20fe and lowered the iso and adjusted the exposure a bit and results were way better than the stock video!
Great work mate... Subscribed 👍
With my limited testing, the only difference Is the native app uses the mp4 file type while the motion cam uses the dng file type.
@@dequariuswalker4739 So does that mean the stock pro mode video cannot retail as much details?
@@uzairzafar3087 Not close. Details does not mean oversharpening. But big issue is forced on Noise Reduction all the time
@@miesto_paukstis Didnt get you. Can u explain better? Thanks
@@uzairzafar3087 Samsung has overprocessed video. A lot. And even 3rd party apps cant get original quality, because of Samsung overrides over cameraAPI. The MotionCam is that a way around it, of ISP, because it records pure dng raw video. But what happens there? Seems Samsung overprocesses a lot that dng file. Every developer overprocesses or gives a small like thumbnail next to it, so some editing applications mess around with incorrect color data. But samsung does that much more some corrections baked/applied for that dng compared to other phone manufacturers. So if you intend to fully utilise the hardware, Samsung is not the way. But for regular user - this phone is superb versatile with nice image capture (only for phones screen) and many lens. Just not for good video.
I have brand new s22 ultra. I think (looking at the video) footage of this smartphone is flat or greyish. I think that it can be fixed in postproduction easily. I have seen other comparison and it seems to me that s22 ultra looks more natural.
The video I’ve been waiting for apple vs Samsung
Not a traditional comparison. I can definitely do a standard camera comparison though!
Great video per usual.... would you be able to do a comparison of the ultra 22 vs ultra 21? If you don't mind 😝😊
Working on it right now 🙂
@@OT4Tech Thanks so much!!!!😊

im not an iphone user
but as far as ive seen and used
the s22 ultra motion cam footage is just :chefskiss
There's the expert raw app made by Samsung and u can also use camera assistant to enhace the quality of photo and probably videos too
thanks i didn't know i could shoot raw??? i knew about 10bit but not DNG files
We need update on this video. Motioncam allows you to shoot 60 fps if you are rooted . also the tele photo lens.
Can someone tell me, does this mean you have to reapply camera stabilization on the Ultra footage?
Motioncam saves gyro data which can be used to stabilized the video after being recorded. You can check youtube for more info.
Why is there a white haze on s22 ultra videos
There is a pro version for videos in the native camera app for the samsung
I loved the quality of the Galaxy, it really looks like you're shooting a movie, but the stabilization is terrible, on the iPhone the colors look good but more casual, yes, the stabilization is much better. If I had to choose one I would stick with Galaxy, for my trips I would buy a compact stabilizer and edit my own movies
Just got my s22 ultra today. Upgrading from the Galaxy Note 10 Plus.
Hi did you find out huge difference between s22 ultra and note 10 plus. I have note 10 plus and I'm not sure if is worth to upgrade to s22 ultra. THANKS FOR REPLY
@@IFIT78
honestly the camera is the biggest upgrade.
Besides that you just have a upgraded processor and more updates. You don't really notice the 120hz like most people claim nor do you notice the faster s pen. You lose a SD card support, Mst, and dual aperture. You also lose some support for some music file types.
Not much of a upgrade UNLESS you care about the cameras.
Thanks for your opinion. I think I will stick with a note 10 for little bit longer.
Appreciate your quick response 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Can't you just use the pro video mode on the S22?
It doesn’t shoot raw

Is the burgundy a dark burgundy or light in color? I can't tell from the pictures I've seen online.
@@GSP-76 I did a unboxing of it if you would like to check it out. In my opinion it looks more purple to me if I'm being honest little deeper than what pics show.
Nice! That’s a good looking option. My S22 Plus is in that color.

Facts
Watching on my s22ultra 😍😍
I am quite sure that in the Galaxy S22 Ultra, you can open up the normal camera app, tap on "more" and then you can choose "Pro Video" and with that you can play around your ISO, shutter speeds and you can actually shoot up to 120fps on FHD and up to 60fps 4k or 24fps 8K...
but not sure about the RAW formats though 🤔
You still will get digital sharpness and less detials...
search RAW video or Motioncam and check various sample videos..
Even budget devices can take spectacular videos..
I don't know man, that Galaxy shot at the end was jerky and warpy while the iPhone shot was silky smooth. Seriously, just throw that jumpy video in the trash. No one will even want to post that on UA-cam. Also, those colors. My eyes are cracking. I was thinking oh, how cool up till the final clip. Now, I'm thinking iPhone.
Without watching in going to guess it's the iPhone. I have an Ultra ordered but you can't come close to Apples video processing.

It does not shoot RAW video. I stayed this all throughout the video.
