Great trip! I love seeing you setting an example with PFD's. I wear mine all the time, regardless of air/water temperature. I also use it to hold my phone/camera though.
My group completed the same trip from Site 4 on St Regis Pond a couple years ago, but we didn't cram into one canoe! I wish I had video from the campfire chat the evening before when I said we should be on the water by 7 AM so we were not too late getting back. The look on some of the "newbie" faces when I told them of our long day was priceless! Such a good time, though!
My favorite part of the paddle was Bog Pond, with the narrow, twisty sections. It's definitely a tricky takeout at the dock by the trailhead! I'm jealous of the solitude you had on the summit. We were the only paddlers that day but it was mid-summer with perhaps 20 or 30 people that hiked in from Keese Mill.
We finished with a swim off the rocks at Site 6 and some killer hamburgers for dinner. Site 4 added a couple miles to the trip since we were on the "wrong" end of the lake. Certainly a long day, but worth every minute, every step, and every stroke.

Great post Tom! Yes it's quite a long day. Longer than we expected for sure but well worth it. Besides what else did we have to do that day? The best part about St. Regis is all the side trips you can get yourself into. Alot of fun with kids too!
