There was a video i had from early youtube of this song played live, where what the violinist played just melted me. I've not been able to find it again. This ones violist part isn't as impactful.
Maybe it's this ua-cam.com/video/h0ha2ZM0L0g/v-deo.html (Piazzolla live in Utrecht 1984). A little correction, It isn't a viola, it is a cello. The last formation of Piazzolla (1989-1990) was a sextet, with a composition similar to his quintet, but replacing the violin with a cello, and adding a second bandoneon. But I agree, it isn't as impactful. Regards!
Astor dissolved his quintet before this recording was made. This is a sextet without violin. The cello played the violin parts. The music turned somber at this point, as Astor added a second bandoneón after having had severe heart problems. Pablo Ziegler also left, and was replaced by an exquisite composer and pianist, Gerardo Gandini. But the quintet sound was gone forever. I saw them live and missed Astor’s last quintet. They were a rare blend of tango and chamber ensamble. Unforgettable. Fernando Suarez Paz was irreplaceable.
It's assumed that the origin of the word "milonga" can be African, possibly root Kimbundu, a language that is currently spoken in Angola, Zimbabwe and I think in Congo. Many people came as slaves to Buenos Aires when it was a colony from that area of Africa and bequeathed words to "lunfardo", the particular way of speaking in Buenos Aires and, therefore, in the lyrics of tango. Today "milonga" is used to name a musical style with variations linked to tango and folk music and is also used to name the place where people gather to dance tango.

Sure. An older version should have featured Antonio Agri, master of the violin masters in Argentina.
Yes i felt it like you, the violinist was sublime.it was live in italia i think

SUBLIME
I've heard some rap songs using samples based on songs like this.
@486dude Except it's not an accordion. It's called "bandoneón." I'll send you a video about it. This instrument is incredibly interesting.
Where is a live recording of this seminal performance? Why not?
I was joking to see how much hate I would get, I actually made a mix tape of this guy because he is so awesome. Sorry.
